Type Bridge

Approved by Hollywood

Type Bridge is a metagame where Pokémon share their movepool with other Pokémon with the same type, i.e. Garchomp shares its movepool with Flygon and viceversa. It might appear obvious that Pokémon with common typing such as Water-Ground or Bug-Flying, and obviously monotyped Pokémon, are going to like this a lot, while Pokémon with an unique type are going to find an hard time dealing with all those new threats.

Rules
  • In order to share moves Pokémon must have the exact same type combination. Sharing beetween Talonflame and Ho-oh is ok, but sharing beetween Talonflame and Tornadus is a no-go.
  • Mega Evolutions, Castform formes and Darmanitan-Zen will work only as one-sided share, they can give moves, but not take new ones, they are going to rely of the type they have when they enter the field for the first time. This means, for example, that Gyarados can't take any move from Crawdaunt, but it can do from Mantine. However, Crawdaunt can take any move it wants from Gyarados. A Rotom-Appliance can't take the movepool from another Appliance, since this is also impossible in-game, as Hydro Pump etc. get deleted when turning back to normal Rotom. They can only take moves from normal Rotom other than their respective type, aka nothing since Electric-Ghost is an unique typing. Pokémon can't take the movepool of their pre-evolutions. Similarly Shaymin can't take the movepool of Grass-Flying, neither can Sky-Shaymin with pure Grass(lol it's banned).
  • Smeargle is not taken into account. Otherwise we would be full of crazy shit such as Shell Smash+Sacred Fire Ursaring. Normal types still have access to almost everything the game has to offer though, including ExtremeSpeed thanks to that event Zigzagoon. Mew is fine, as is Arceus, but only for Normal types.
  • Unreleased Pokémon can share their movepool. Only Diancie and Floette-Eternal are able to do so at time, though, as Volcanion and Hoopa have unique typing. Nothing will get Thousand Arrows and Waves, as they weren't found in the natural learnset of any Pokémon.
  • If a move illegality can be fixed by a sharing, then it's no longer illegal. Absol can use now Knock Off+Play Rough, because Mightyena share Play Rough with it, but Raikou can't use Aura Sphere without shiny+Rash because no other Electric type gets the move.
  • Standard OU Clauses and Banlist still applies.

Make sure to point out if you think that something is unbalanced, and have fun!

So, Dragonite would not be able to get moves from Garchomp, but it would be able to from Druddigon?

Belly Drum + Extreme Speed + Guts Ursaring. Damn.

Flygon gets boosting moves, Furfrou gets recovery, Medicham gets shadow sneak. What's not to like?

Slurpuff with a physical movepool.

Coilperior with a diverse movepool. Sylveon is from stabmons(almost) with geomancy.

So, Dragonite would not be able to get moves from Garchomp, but it would be able to from Druddigon?
No. Druddigon gets moves from Dragonair though. Klinklang gets moves from Meggron who is pure steel.

No, Dragonite would get moves from Salamence, Noivern and Rayquaza, because they are all Dragon-Flying. Aggron can't get moves from Klinklang because it starts the battle as Rock-Steel and Klinklang is pure Steel, but Klinklang can get moves from Aggron because Mega-Aggron is pure Steel. Hope this clarifies better.

Throbulator, try not to Double Post unless it's very important. It's against the rules. This Meta reminds me of some other OM, I forgot it's name, but it feels similar.

Okay. So by typing, a different dual typing does not count. Gotcha.

Interesting points:

Mono Fire, mono Psychic, Mono Normal, and Mono Water Pokemon all get Belly Drum + Extreme Speed.

Volbeat and Crustle get Sticky Web.

Water and Bug types get Tail Glow.

Grass Types get Quiver Dance.

Psychic types get Volt Switch, Psycho Boost, Psystrike and Nasty Plot. Mega Medicham gets SD, EQ and Stone Edge.

Fire types and Charizard/Moltres get Sacred Fire.

Man, this is a very offensive metagame (Stall still gets things like Spore/Spikes/Toxic Spikes Venusaur, Will O Wisp and Softboiled on Wobuffet, Gothitelle and Meowstic, etc.).

I'm a little confused: can monotype Pokemon take any move from Pokemon that has its one type even if it is dual typed? If not, how can Klingklang take from Aggron if we aren't using its Mega for moveset purposes?

This looks like a lot of fun waterfall dd seismitoad anyone? In all seriousness arceus makes all types insane. Holy shit forretress/scissor can bp shift gears and iron defenses. Scolipede can quiver pass, and notable types: mono dark gets absol's giant move poll mono psychic gets mews gargantuan move set mono normals get a huge special attacking move pool via Tauros and mono water get octillery's amazing set with gems such as water spout (although Kyles learns it) power gem (lol) and fire blast.
TL;DR eat your heart out stall teams

With all the boosting everywhere, Psychic/Dark/Fire/Normal/Poison/Electric/Dragon/Grass/Ghost/Water types with Snatch seem like they'd be fun.

BELLY DRUM ALAKAZAM IT IS HAPPENING GG!!!!
On a serious note Shell Smash Kabutops (Omastar) and Shell Smash Politoed, Mega Blastoise and Magikarp (Gorebyss) would be cool sweepers. Will O Wisp Zapdos (Rotom-Fan) would be one annoying ass wall. Nasty Plot Mega Alakazam (Deoxys) could be a hard to set up but great sweeper. Keldeo gets Ice Beam and Psychic for some coverage thanks to Poliwrath. Heal Bell Rotom Wash (Lanturn) could maybe be useful because fuck Toxic. Mega Blastoise really likes this metagame as it gets Wish (Vaporeon), Haze (Vaporeon again), Shell Smash (Gorebyss), Baton pass (again Gorebyss), Clear Smog (Golduck), Recover (Staryu), Dragon Dance (Feraligatr) and even Belly Drum (Politoed). Definetly be looking forward tp playing this metagame.

Don't forget that Stoutland also gets Extreme Speed. So Belly Drum + Extreme Speed + Speed doubled in sand.

This is kinda like Mergemons but with Typing instead of single Pokemon.
I always like to see how Greninja fares in OMs so here we go I guess. Greninja + Keldeo sounds great, as Secret Sword will help Greninja with Chansey. Keldeo as gets U-turn from ninja, which helps it greatly since it usually runs Choiced sets. Keldeo also finally gets Ice Beam and gets Dark Pulse for Ghosts and fighting resists. The pair struggles greatly with Azumarill however.

They're Water/Fighting and Water/Dark, so they don't exchange moves.

Keldeo still will get Ice Beam, though.

Oooooh, this makes things a bit more interesting.
Coil or Dragon Dance Garchomp then? And Knock Off Greninja? Very interesting indeed...

Gothitelle now gets insane coverage from mew now making it a weaker Mega Gengar with more coverage. It would also be very viable on DragMag or in this case DragTell teams since it gets sludge bomb and fire blast to hit Steel and Fairy mons.
