Regice @ Choice Specs
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 172 HP / 252 SpA / 84 Spe
Modest Nature
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Sleep Talk

Regice, while not the greatest mon in the tier, is still cool and acts as a decent check to Gorebyss. Regice can chew any one hit even LO Gorebyss wants to throw at it after setting up, and OHKO's back with a specs Thunderbolt.

+2 252+ SpA Life Orb Gorebyss Hydro Pump vs. 172 HP / 0 SpD Regice: 253-300 (73.5 - 87.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252+ SpA Life Orb Gorebyss Ice Beam vs. 172 HP / 0 SpD Regice: 69-82 (20 - 23.8%) -- guaranteed 5HKO
+2 252+ SpA Life Orb Gorebyss Hidden Power Electric vs. 172 HP / 0 SpD Regice: 92-109 (26.7 - 31.6%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Regice Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Gorebyss: 340-400 (135.4 - 159.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Articuno @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Roost
- Freeze-Dry
- Hurricane

As a check, it can take any moves abomasnow has to throw at it and even roost if a blizzard catches it in the switch, then proceed to stall out the blizzards with pressure. Or you can simply kill aboma with hurricane or sub to stall out a potential switch-in, other variants of cuno such as lo and agility also beat it, but lefties allows this set to check abomasnow more effectively.

252 SpA Life Orb Abomasnow Blizzard vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Articuno: 153-181 (47.6 - 56.3%) -- 28.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
160+ Atk Life Orb Abomasnow Ice Shard vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Articuno: 68-82 (21.1 - 25.5%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

Avalugg @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Recover
- Avalanche
- Earthquake

Avalugg works to counter this set.

Mixed Abomasnow can't take advantage of Avalugg's weak SpD since Blizzard only gets a 4HKO. Avalugg can 2HKO in return with Avalanche and/or Recover the damage to help it continually switch in. As an added bonus, residual Hail damage won't chip it.

0 Atk Avalugg Avalanche vs. 8 HP / 0- Def Abomasnow: 208-246 (64.3 - 76.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
92 Atk Life Orb Abomasnow Wood Hammer vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Avalugg: 101-121 (25.6 - 30.7%) -- 2.8% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Life Orb Abomasnow Blizzard vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Avalugg: 113-134 (28.7 - 34%) -- 99.2% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Audino @ Audinite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 232 HP / 216 Def / 44 SpA / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Dazzling Gleam
- Wish
- Protect
- Heal Bell

Defensive Mega-Audino counters (I would also settle for Hard Check) mixed Abomasnow fairly reliably. Mega-Audino can manually switch in to both Wood Hammer and Blizzard and can proceed to stall it out of Hail, Blizzard PP, and HP.

Also TTFTW ninja'd me and I swear I will have my revenge

252 SpA Life Orb Abomasnow Blizzard vs. 232 HP / 0 SpD Mega Audino: 152-179 (37.5 - 44.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after hail damage
92+ Atk Life Orb Abomasnow Wood Hammer vs. 232 HP / 216+ Def Mega Audino: 121-142 (29.8 - 35%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after hail damage

44 SpA Mega Audino Dazzling Gleam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Abomasnow: 87-103 (27.1 - 32%) -- guaranteed 4HKO (Not extremely relevant but it can actually deal a decent amount damage back to it)

Larvesta @ Eviolite
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 168 Def / 92 SpD
Careful Nature
- U-turn
- Will-O-Wisp
- Morning Sun
- Flare Blitz

Yo Larvesta is the counter. This little guy absolutely eats up anything Aboma wants to throw at him, with only Blizzard having a chance to 3HKO after hail damage. Larvesta can also threaten Abomasnow out with Flare Blitz, and gain momentum on the switch with U-Turn. Obviously hazard support is needed, but with the defensive qualities this thing brings to the table it shouldn't be too hard to find room on a team. Spread could also be optimized but it's been working for me.

PS. This thing also counters Special Scep, and eats 2 Banded CC's from Sawk (Flame Body burns are cool too), try it out :]

252+ SpA Life Orb Abomasnow Blizzard vs. 248 HP / 92+ SpD Eviolite Larvesta: 86-101 (27.4 - 32.2%) -- 77.7% chance to 3HKO after hail damage
92 Atk Life Orb Abomasnow Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 168 Def Eviolite Larvesta: 81-96 (25.8 - 30.6%) -- 12.1% chance to 3HKO after hail damage
92 Atk Life Orb Abomasnow Wood Hammer vs. 248 HP / 168 Def Eviolite Larvesta: 35-43 (11.1 - 13.7%) -- possible 6HKO after hail damage

Weezing @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 156 Def / 100 Spe
Bold Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Toxic Spikes
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp

This set can take pretty much any hit from banded primeape and proceed to set up tspikes or burn something, so you can definitely call it a counter considering black sludge recovery lets you stay decently healthy to check ape for the rest of the game if it wants to u-turn everytime. (The 100 speed EVs stand for base 40s, but max hp max defense is a decent spread as well if you think your team really needs a more solid fighting resist)

252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Stone Edge vs. 248 HP / 156+ Def Weezing: 96-114 (28.8 - 34.2%) -- 99.8% chance to 4HKO after Black Sludge recovery -> nothing does more damage

252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Stone Edge vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Weezing: 90-106 (27 - 31.8%) -- 40.7% chance to 4HKO after Black Sludge recovery

rotom is a pretty hard check.

Rotom @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 148 HP / 108 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hex
- Volt Switch
- Shadow Ball

takes most of what ape wants to dish out, sitrus allows it to take more than one edge, only losing if you switch in manually. CC/EQ do literally 0(heh), and uturn/gunk do pitiful damage. In return, rotom can burn and kill Primeape really easily. It also gains momentum off of it switching

252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Stone Edge vs. 148 HP / 108 Def Rotom: 153-181 (55 - 65.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Choice Band burned Primeape Stone Edge vs. 148 HP / 108 Def Rotom: 76-90 (27.3 - 32.3%) -- 78.1% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock
0 SpA Rotom Hex (130 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Primeape: 180-213 (66.4 - 78.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after burn damage

Gourgeist-Super @ Leftovers
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Leech Seed
- Synthesis
- Foul Play

gourgeist-xl makes for a solid counter to primeape, reliably switching in on any attack it wants to go for, while gourgeist can cripple it with will-o and keep healthy with seed+synthesis. the most ape can do to gourgeist is gunk shot, which, at best, only has a .01% chance to 3hko after rocks

Hard Counter

Dusclops @ Eviolite
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Rest
- Seismic Toss / Shadow Ball
- Will-O-Wisp
- Calm Mind / Sleep Talk

Yes Dusclops is a little passive but it's honestly not that terrible like people make it out to be, i've had a bit of sucess with it :>... EQ's only capable of getting a potential 5HKO and before that Dusclops can easily burn with Will-O and Rest of any damage. Between Seismic Toss and Shadow Ball, they both get the job done.

252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Dusclops: 56-67 (19.7 - 23.5%) -- possible 5HKO
252 Atk Choice Band burned Primeape Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Dusclops: 28-33 (9.8 - 11.6%) -- possible 9HKO

Musharna is a counter to Primeape.

Musharna @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Def / 16 SpD
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Barrier
- Stored Power
- Moonlight

You knew it was coming. Musharna uses Primeape as easy set up fodder. Primeape's best bet is to U-turn out, which is a 3HKO. But at the same time, that removes Ape from the equation, leaving Musharna to go about its business. Outside of U-turn, Gunk Shot is the next best thing with a 4HKO.

252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Close Combat vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Musharna: 102-120 (23.5 - 27.7%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Choice Band Primeape U-turn vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Musharna: 158-188 (36.4 - 43.4%) -- 97.9% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Gunk Shot vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Musharna: 136-160 (31.4 - 36.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Earthquake vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Musharna: 113-133 (26 - 30.7%) -- 3.2% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Golurk @ Colbur Berry / Leftovers
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Shadow Punch
- Ice Punch

Golurk is a nice Counter to CB Primeape. It's immune to Close Combat, resists Gunk Shot, Stone Edge, and U-Turn, and is only 3HKOed by Earthquake. Basically, Primeape is free Stealth Rock set-up, and has a 75% chance to be OHKOed by Golurk's Earthquake.

252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Golurk: 85-100 (22.2 - 26.1%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Choice Band Primeape U-turn vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Golurk: 59-70 (15.4 - 18.3%) -- possible 8HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Golurk: 51-60 (13.3 - 15.7%) -- possibly the worst move ever
252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Golurk: 170-200 (44.5 - 52.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Golurk Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Primeape: 261-307 (96.3 - 113.2%) -- 75% chance to OHKO

Misdreavus @ Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Timid Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hex
- Taunt
- Memento / Pain Split

Primeape doesn't get Knock Off so Misdreavus is a pretty good check. Stone Edge is a 3HKO but there's a 48.8% chance that one of them will miss so it's not too reliable. Meanwhile, Misdreavus can burn Primeape to make it useless, kill it with Hex directly, or use Memento to give a teammate like Lilligant a setup opportunity.

252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 240 Def Eviolite Misdreavus: 103-122 (31.7 - 37.6%) -- 91.3% chance to 3HKO

Scyther @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Quick Attack
- U-turn
- Aerial Ace
- Knock Off

Banded Scyther, or really any Scyther with max Speed and Aerial Ace can outpace and take out Banded Primape, making it a solid check. Scyther is also able to switch into a banded Close Combat or U-Turn, but has to be wary of a Stone Edge.

252 Atk Choice Band Technician Scyther Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Primeape: 590-696 (217.7 - 256.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Vileplume @ Black Sludge
Ability: Effect Spore
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
- Hidden Power Fire/Hidden Power Ground/Sleep Powder

This one is pretty boring but I was at a loss for ideas so oh well! Vileplume is a solid counter to Primeape as it can shrug off any of its coverage moves very reliably and has access to reliable recovery in the form of Synthesis or Moonlight. The added bonus of being able to punish U-Turn through Effect Spore is also pretty useful. The 24 Speed EV's are my standard base 50 creep if you were curious.
252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 232+ Def Vileplume: 102-121 (28.8 - 34.2%) -- 99.5% chance to 4HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 232+ Def Vileplume: 115-136 (32.5 - 38.5%) -- 2.9% chance to 3HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Gunk Shot vs. 248 HP / 232+ Def Vileplume: 137-162 (38.8 - 45.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Black Sludge recovery

Tangela @ Eviolite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Sleep Powder / Toxic
- Leech Seed / Synthesis

Was late to the party here so all the popular mons already got picked sigh. Anyway defensive Tangela is a neat hard check to Primeape, as it can brush off any of Ape's moves with relative ease, and proceed to annoy the opposing team with Sleep/Toxic/Leech Seed as Regenerator allows it to handle Primeape throughout the battle without wasting turns clicking recovery such as Synthesis. While Banded Gunk Shot has a small chance to 2HKO, typically forcing a Primeape to lock itself into Gunk Shot is beneficial for your team as it has poor neutral coverage.

252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Tangela: 148-176 (44.3 - 52.6%) -- 23% chance to 2HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Tangela: 111-132 (33.2 - 39.5%) -- 100% chance to 3HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Primeape U-turn vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Tangela: 88-104 (26.3 - 31.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Primeape Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Tangela: 62-73 (18.5 - 21.8%) -- possible 5HKO

Mismagius @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hex
- Thunder Wave
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt

This is the best set in existence. Much like every other bulky Ghost-type with Levitate, Mismagius does a number to Primeape, fearing next to nothing from it outside of Stone Edge and a missed Will-O-Wisp or a U-turn into a Pursuit trapper. However, unlike the other Ghost-types, this Mismagius has Thunder Wave! Thunder Wave is broken and therefor makes this a much better check than the other Pokemon listed.

Clefairy @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 156 Def / 100 SpD
Calm Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunder Wave
Clefairy is an OK check to Primeape if they aren't packing Gunk Shot. Banded CC fails to 2hko this ev spread while Clefairy can clik that T-wave button and recover with soft-boiled on a forced switch or a paralysis, whichever happens first. Clefairy also happens to pair well with other fighting resists like Weezing and Vileplume so that's a plus!
0 SpA Clefairy Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Primeape: 182-216 (67.1 - 79.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Once again, Scyther checks this threat due to its higher base speed allowing it to take out Pinsir easily with Aerial Ace. In addition, it 4x resists X-Scissor and is immune to Earthquake, allowing it to switch into 3/4 of Pinsir's moves, although Stone Edge OHKOs it.

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

Pinsir is insanely hard to check defensively, but Poliwrath probably does a pretty nice job. A burn from scald can be handy in checking Pinsir on the spot, however if it already has an SD up, you can simply just Circle Throw it out. With Rest and Sleep Talk Poliwrath doesn't get worn down too easily, and can come in throughout the match to check Pinsir.

Gourgeist can beat out Lo Pinsir almost everytime if at full. Unboosted, jolly Pinsir does 34 max with x scissor and Gourgeist either recovers off the damage or burns Pinsir with wisp. If Gourgeist comes in on an SD, Foul Play can do almost enough to ohko after one round of Life Orb damage on Pinsir.

Calcs:
