Round 8​

The team, on its knees because of Eusine's might, decides to put up a last-ditch assault, throwing at the foe everything it can muster. Eusine holds steady and summons moon flames upon Majestic, knocking her out and snarking at her allies.

Eusine: Hope... such a futile struggle

However, the team keeps going, even if Syclant succumbs to his own lack of energies. The seer barely stands on his feet now, but manages to summon a swarm of hungering locusts, which ravage the already weakened squad. The Xerneas survives the onslaught, but falls to the poison they injected upon it and its allies. And as if this weren't enough, the seer foretells impending doom for the Dragonite, too.

However, light does not represent the sole foundation of the staff's power. Just like dreams are woven out of light and darkness alike, so is the staff's magic dependant on shadow magic, as well. For this reason, in order to fully empower the staff, I shall need an artifact to awaken its dark side."
"Where can we retrieve such an item?", you ask in return. "Is it in possession of Darkrai's allies, too?"
"It is not, although this will not make its retrieval any easier," says the legendary Pokemon. "Such artifacts, in fact, were once used to summon the forgotten gods into our world, but they have been abandoned ever since. It is possible that the old god vanquished on that mysterious island by Wallace and his allies could have held such an item of power, but if so, it is probably forever lost to us."

As you and Cresselia turn around, Latios makes his appearance in his human form.
"While it is true that Regigigas is no more, we could employ the Caverns of Time to yank our heroes back to that moment in the past," explains the Eon Pokemon. "As long as we call the heroes back shortly enough, we should manage to avoid disrupting the time continuum. However, I cannot hide you the risks behind such an attempt."
"What kind of risks?" you ask.
"Our capacity to interfere with the past events without causing a temporal catastrophe is very limited," Latios admits. "This means that we can only travel you right before the rise of the old god himself. That is to say, you will have to face the god without any kind of help. Do you still feel up to the task?"

Objective: Defeat Regigigas in the Shrine of the Old Gods instance, without employing any Regi Cores, and retrieve the Eye of Shadow. This quest can only be completed in Hard mode.

As Eusine finally closes his eyes, the magic which was binding Lt. Surge and Cynthia is dispelled, setting the two trainers free.

"What on earth ...?" utters the Vermillion Gym Leader, still astonished by the recent turn of events. However, before any of you can say anything, Cynthia looks at you with determined eyes.
"This is no time for questions," she says, pointing at the stairs ahead. "We must reach the airship before it is too late. Celebi, Cresselia, and the Eon twins are already waiting for us there."
Lt. Surge remains in silence for a moment, then nods. "Very well, miss. Let's go!"
As you and the gym leader head down, however, you notice Cynthia glancing one last time at the fallen seer and shaking her head.
"How many more lives shall be wasted, before this is all over...?" she whispers, before turning her eyes away from the old ally.
