RU Teambuilding Lab
Welcome all to the RU Teambuilding Lab project that serves to help inexperienced teambuilders by providing custom-made teams for anyone who requests one. Users can request any Pokemon and core they desire, which will be provided by a group of experienced teambuilders in the tier. You will receive information on the thought process of building from the builders, and users are free to ask any questions and concerns by reaching out to the builders.

Rules:

- Have a post describing the core / Pokemon you want us to build around and a slight idea of what kind of team you want the end result to be.
- Do not post asking us to make use of unviable Pokemon. This is not a competition to see how good we are at teambuilding; this is us trying to educate people on what is good and how to build effective teams.
- Do not flame people for asking for a certain Pokemon or that they can't build one themselves.
- Each user is allowed one request per week and any user found requesting multiple will have their post deleted
- Please remember that these teams are first drafts and as such will not be perfect. Edit them as you please.
- On that note, you are free (and highly encouraged) to suggest and post changes / critiques you've made to already posted teams that you feel improve them.
- Please refrain from posting teams unless you are a "builder," but if you feel that you would be a valuable asset to the construction of a certain team, PM me.
- Do note that requests for teams built around mons that are C rank and below are not allowed as they are generally less viable mons in the tier (C+ rank is still allowed)
- The Lab does not accept requests including Pokemon currently undergoing suspect testing.

I'd like to request a [insert generation][insert possibly team archetype (stall, offense, etc.)] around [insert mon/s].

Hey, can someone make me a SV balance team centered around Magnezone Magnet Pull and Fezandipiti ?

:sv/mimikyu:

Can someone please help me build an SS Bulky Offense team with Mimikyu as a breaker/cleaner/“oh shit” button? I have an offensive core Mimi+coba berry pangoro to bait in and damage Crobat, but I’m not sure if that’s a good offensive partner or if you can do better.

Please SS RU chefs, a new hamster has come into my life these past two months, and my Fiancée and I named her Mimi. The only way we could get her to stop biting is letting her play showdown, and if she doesn’t get to use namesake Mimikyu in SSRU, she may get bored and turn on us! Save my marriage and fingers Team Building Lab!

:sv/gyarados:
Gyarados @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Thunder Wave
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
Can somebody please help me build around this gyara set? I used it in the rhyperior week of RU TOTW and I felt that it could have a lot of potential. I feel like it could do well on a paraspam team as a lategame cleaner for them or on a BO team as the late game cleaner. Tera type is definetely changable if needed as Tera ground was mainly for thundy-t, which has since left the tier.
This set of gyara is meant to have some mid game potential as it can para any switch ins to support its team. This alongside intimidate allows it to soft check a lot of threats in the tier, with it of course late game having a chance to sweep.

Hello, do you think you could help build a SV BO around Cobalion idbp (a classic) and Noivern bulky defog or offensive pivot ?

I'm kinda new to the tier and still getting the hang of it, but I'm mostly joined since my boy Noivern was in at the end of 2023.
I thought about the bulky defog set so that Noivern could check more easily any fire and fighting move for a set-up sweeper coba in addition to the ground immunity.

Thank you in avance :dorime:

Hi,after your request i tried building this, people always use some bulky water types/grass types switch in gyara, that we can try use gyara para them,i pick sd rhyperior and sd bisharp be partner to overwhelm them, also rhyperior and bisharp can overwhelm hippo to help them, first 3 mons too weak chesnaught, iron defense coba also is a problem,so i use glowbro to deal with them,it also can para more mons, you also can change toxic over thunder wave to deal with slowbro, then i use tera fly thundurus-i,it can do many things,thundurus-i can use thunder wave para more and deal some set up mon, tera blast with flying also is a strong stab,at last i pick cyclizar to control hazards and give team a special wall.
This team have a bit weak gardevior, but others not bad, hope you can have good experience of this team.

Very classic and easy to pick up and play with simple, similar gameplans from game to game, this team is HO-proof and Rain-proof for ladder play, so it's perfect to learn the tier.
Here are some sample games against HO, thank you Orion for the games: Replay 1 | Replay 2

Hello, looking for somebody to help me build around the core of Arctozolt and Arctovish in SS - a full snow or a
mixed team team seems to fit this core but I'm open to any ideas. Thanks in advance. And i can use the types, groud, ice, poison, and steel

hey ! i always wanted to build around dragalge, but every time i build around it i am not satisfied of the result, so it'll be cool to have a team based on dragalge w something to help it beat steels (stack hazard, lures, magnezone) (sv ru)
Dragalge @ Leftovers
Ability: Adaptability
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 124 HP / 252 SpA / 132 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Sludge Bomb
- Toxic Spikes
- Flip Turn
maybe a set like this

Hi, are you requesting a SV team including this Deoxys set? If not you would get more appropriate responses in the Metagame Thread or the Short Questions Short Answers Thread.

yoyoyo I threw this team together, concept was pretty straightforward, just have dragalge and a bunch of guys who can hopefully apply offensive pressure and keep poison types out. very volt turny type stuff which funnels into ur double cm psychics in bro/rouge to hopefully clean up through a weakened team: https://pokepast.es/2ed38c71a63ddf81

Hey, I'm new to RU, I'm looking to get a good team built around a Defensive Jirachi and a late-game Salamance sweeper for Gen9RU. Let me know if you want any more information.

Here's a base I've been trying, but I'm struggling to wrap my head around what works and what doesn't, so any help would be appreciated.
https://pokepast.es/c4efdfb843416dc6
:jirachi::weezing-galar::gastrodon-east::thundurus::bisharp::salamence:
https://pokepast.es/7ab29cd073c9d767

Your team was already quite decent, I simply changed the defensive core and kept the status spam dynamic.
Jirachi and Thundurus can spam paralysis on entire teams so that Bisharp and Salamence can paraflinch thanks to Iron Head.
Salamence can sub up on paralyzed enemies to stack dragon dances. It will be your main win con and the Pokemon you'll want to Tera in most games.
Weezing-G can also burn physical threats to also help Salamence subbing against them. 252+ speed allows you to get a Will-O-Wisp off first against slower physical threats like Bisharp or bulky Okidogi. You can Tera Steel in cases where it's your only way of handling a Revavroom or DD Mence going rogue when Bisharp is not enough.
Gastrodon is a catch-all special wall who can keep the pressure up thanks to its great coverage and STABs while helping a ton against Rain.
Bisharp is a great anti-HO mon who can abuse paralysis with Iron Head and a nice defensive profile for this team.

You can experiment with both Intimidate and Moxie on Salamence, they're both great options, with Intimidate helping to get the initial substitute up, and Moxie allowing you to start attacking a bit earlier. I recommend leading Thundurus in most games, it is perfectly fine to sacrifice it turn 1 if it means paralyzing a threat Salamence can then use as setup fodder later in the game.

hello SS RU builders, I'd like to have a balance or fat SS RU team based around CM Reuniclus + Spikes pretty please :3
The Reuniclus set:
Reuniclus @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Recover
(some EVs can go into speed for specific creep if needed)

Thank you so much! I'm doing some testing right now, and it's been going great. Even just having a team with more defined roles has been fantastic. I really appreciate it!

One question, what are your thoughts on Wish on Jirachi for a bit of support? I'm usually a fan of the move, but I don't know if it fits well in this team comp.

You can replace Encore with Wish on Jirachi, this is a perfectly fine change to make. It will make your matchup against Calm Minders a bit more difficult though, you can try to run Clear Smog on Gastrodon to help in that regard, or simply play more careful around them. I'm glad you like the team!

Hello, it's me again (and surely maybe not the last time even :zonger: ).

I discovered SM RU not long ago and even got in the Talonflame suspect tour (to get demolished on my first and only Best Off, just as expected) and wanted to explore a bit more. I used the tour to make a team around M-Sceptile, but this time, I'd like to have a team based around Necrozma CM to properly enter this tier, since I do like this pokemon. Who knows, maybe it will inspire me for SV RU :)

I am well aware that I am asking this before we know if Talonflame will come back or not in the tier, so I believe it better to consider the current metagame without it.

I'll be honest, I am not sure what kind of team benefits best from such a set, but I can see BO or balanced going with that. Maybe more balanced than BO.

Thanks in advance for your services ! :sphearical:

Hi,I building one cm necro team, hariyama and diancie are good partner for necro, they can help necro deal some dark types such as houndoom, mandibuzz and so on.Use heavy slam for hariyama because it can lure florges and 1hko diancie.Lum golisopod can switch in toxic slowbro and make it not burn by scald,at end i bring scarf flygon be speed control and cb gross be a breaker.
Hope this team you used well.

Hello!

Today I saw the new sprites for Gen9 and it reminded me that Fezandipiti is kinda neat.
1016-png.653092

But I come to you, wizards of teambuilding, with an idea that has been with me for some time: could Swords Dance Fezandipiti work in a team built around it? I know, I know, Okidogi is right there and it has Bulk Up, can be banded, etc. But it just doesn't have the same sass, I'm sorry.

Thank you all in advance, and if it's a terrible idea, sorry in advance as well! :tymp:

I'd like to run P2 in this current meta, do you guys think it'll work post-Dogi death?
FezVolc Balance ft. Porygon2

:porygon2::volcanion::fezandipiti::hippowdon::weezing-galar::mienshao:
https://pokepast.es/16b62829fdcfe70e

Due to movepool cuts in SV, P2 has very limited options to find its place in higher tiers and dropped to ZU. Luckily for the duck, P2 can find a niche in RU as the tier is severely lacking in special walls, leaving Yanmega, Blastoise, and Armarouge to reign supreme, with Gengar, Horoark, Basculegion-F, Volcanion, and Hoodra also being a headache to handle for most teams. Porygon2 finds its niche as a stalwart special wall through sheer bulk and its typing leaving it with a single weakness that is difficult to exploit for our special attackers. It differenciates itself with Chansey through higher special attack as well as access to Foul Play that allows it to not be limited to Seismic Toss, and Trace that allows Porygon2 to copy the likes of Volcanion's Water Absorb, Yanmega's Speed Boost, the many Regenerator found in the tier, Thundurus's Prankster, Magnezone's Magnet Pull, and many others.

The moveset is very straightfoward as P2 has a limited movepool to work with. Recover is self-explanatory, Thunder Wave spreads status, Ice Beam hits Yanmega and can freeze on occasions, and Foul Play punishes the likes of Blastoise, Revavroom, and Gyarados for trying to set up.

Volcanion threatens Fezan's answers with huge damage and weakens Hisuian Goodra so that Fezan can try to clean up with Calm Mind later in the game.
Hippowdon + Geezing is our double physdef core. Hippo sets rocks while Geezing can remove them from our side. Geezing having no item is intentional: it will be our Knock absorber to keep Fezan's Covert Cloak intact so it won't have an item for long anyway + it allows Geezing to be immune to Golurk Poltergeist (you don't need a golurk answer until you face one and it 6-0s on preview if you don't have an answer). Geezing is EV'd to outspeed Crawdaunt. Most Bisharps don't run max speed so you can burn them first, but it's risky.
Mienshao is our speed control.

On team preview, see what stops Fezan from setting up freely (usually Hisuian Goodra/Jirachi/stuff with Psyshock like Armarouge/stuff that can 2HKO with Earthquake even after Tera Water) and weaken it enough with Volcanion so Fezan can beat it safely. as always against HO, if facing Blastoise, just hit it with the strongest move you have with whoever you have on the field to prevent it from setting up for free, and rk with P2 Foul Play. You will have to play heads or tails as if you click Thunder Wave on it but it Tera Elecs, you lose, and if you click Foul Play and it Tera Fightings, you lose. Blastoise is broken but Tera Fighting is extremely rare (more than Tera Elec as of now).
