Okay carry on

I am once again warning managers to not bid a ton on me, my activity will be inconsistent and I’ll be disappointed and sad if the responsibility of going for 15k again just to go negative and not play a ton bc of irl happens again

my ass is just here for the custom and vibes with friends

The team of 1v1ers (+skimmy). The managers made a smart move by buying 17 players, accounting for the 6 1v1ers that will be banned mid-tour. With a combined CAP experience of 10 games, they are hoping for the somewhat decent pilots to win some games if they are passed good teams. However, the big issue is that there isn't a single person here who has tried to build in CAP before, so they have to resort to stealing spoo teams, which is dire af.

Straight to Dicks Tier they go.

STORMING SAHARAJAS
1718307313274.png

Saharajas will likely have more line counts than all seven other teams combined, thanks to professional yappers like Lasen and ImposterOCE, among others. The team has some decent but underrated players who, combined with their chat presence, should do well in the tour. I also trust both managers to be very helpful in teambuilding, testing, etc.

C Tier for Clean.

VOODOM PATROL

Fragments has been successful in many tours as a manager, and it's no surprise he has once again drafted a very solid team. Although almost every tier has solid players, the lack of CAP mainers and building especially may become a concern. I still think they will do just fine.
However, do the above things matter when the co-manager is Velvet, historically whose teams have been in last place for 50% of the tours (I think). So, averaging both managers, I give the team a B tier.

CARIBOLTERS

CE and DPM are a manager pair I like and they will definitely be looking forward to replicate capcl success.

Sadly that thing is never happening cz they have like 33k TGA loool. Straight to dicks tier they go.

WU TANG CLANTS
1718307432643.png

Mada comes into CAPPL while also managing 59 other tours simultaneously, 47 of which are named Tyrannical Tinkatons. Once again, he has drafted a very solid team with almost no visible weaknesses. I am also excited for Micaiah's comeback and expect him to expose fraud #1 Tga once and for all. Sucm not being in SS is very disappointing, though.

What more is there to say? Very good players and good managers. A tier.

HEARTBREAKER HEMOGOBLINS

D tier for the D2W curse

NO FUCKS GREAT TUSKS
1718307446560.png

At first, I had no idea that Spitfire and Pannu had bought themselves, so I thought it was one of the worst teams ever drafted. However, with their self-buys, it is now less bad. With some solid buys in Steam buns and Joeshh, as well as cheap but high value picks like Ainz, Arnav and Atha (though the latter must be careful while facing any little cup pokemon), I think this team will do really well given that both managers are passionate about the tier. It does feel very top-heavy, so that may be a concern if one or two players don't perform well.

Regardless, it's a solid team. A tier.

Why no ranking for the Equilibras?

‎ ‎ THE CAPPL TIMES: WEEK ONE
We have the juiciest plotlines, the greatest rumors, and the exclusive scoop on everything but the CAP metagame. A great week, and without further ado let's get right into the coverage. also this is all jokes i dont have beef w/ anyone im sorry if anyone is mad :(
‎ ‎ ‎ The Crazy Train
As if clean's daily moaning about Cawmodore wasn't enough, we went ahead and made another one!
1718594853269.png
To everyone's surprise, the mon we gave coverage to beat all of its checks and counterplay manages to beat all of its checks and counterplay once people actually started using it. The train wrought utter havoc upon these desolate lands (:pmd/groudon-primal:), up until the very last game of the week! The incredible ability of Chuggalong to break souls and computer screens around the world became so apparent that there is currently a PRC thread aimed at establishing a protocol for quicknerfs of CAPs deemed too broken to wait until Post-Play Lookback. With a nerf imminent and the builders of each team scrambling to shore up their defenses, it is likely that the locomotive's peak has passed, but the trauma caused by its clicking and clacking will last for time immemorial. The most notable plotline you, the reader, need to understand is SHSP giving the mon Draining Kiss and Stored Power and our Rajas subsequently losing to it twice in two different ways with two different sets. I know you're my boss sir but the self sabo is WILD. ALSO DEX PLAYED THE LONG CON BY MAKING THE MON BROKE SO VOODOOMS COULD FORCE THE TIE #STAYWOKE. But moving on to the actually fun games...

‎ ‎ ‎ Games to Watch
Pannuracotta vs. Mimikyu Stardust (SM) - This game was a riveting look into the brain of CAP's second greatest LARPer, second only to the Pinnacle. How he managed to lose against :pmd/manectric-mega:, :pmd/togekiss:, and KITSUNOH? IN GEN 7? IN 2024? will never be understood.
Sificon vs. Lana (SV) - THE FUCKING VILLAIN. An incredible showdown between two powerful offenses where the Chuggalong team couldn't handle the Carolina REAPER.
Justdrew vs. Zioziotrip (SV) - A stall mirror is something everyone enjoys watching, of course, but this one was surprisingly fast. A well-played Gliscor led to a match that wasn't 500 turns long. God bless.

Ina fable vs. Lizzie (SV) - Selfbuys were 1-6 this week. This was the 1.

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎By the way let me repeat that. Selfbuys were 1-6 this week. There is an agenda to push. And it is starting right now. Last but not least in this week's edition of The CAPPL Times, though, is...
1718598834341.png
That's all for tonight, folks. Tune in early next week for the next edition of The CAPPL Times, and, as always, RAJA NEVER GIVEUP.

Hello and welcome to the highly anticipated CAP Premier League X Power Rankings! This year we celebrate CAPPL's tenth birthday, and today in particular, we celebrate yet another bingo item checked off and ten minutes of entertainment that took four weeks to produce.

The process for these power rankings is the same as always. A form was sent out to the managers of each team to collect individual rankings on every player in the starting lineups, with these rankings being entirely collected before Friday of Week 1. Managers also ranked opposing teams in the "Extra" category, a subjective catch-all category that can encompass elements like a team's substitutes, managerial strength, team environment, and anything else that managers deem fit. The rankings were then averaged out, as you can see in the spoiler tags at the bottom of this post. Higher numbers represent better ranks. The best ranking a player in the SV pool could receive was 1, while the worst was 21; in pastgens and the "Extra" category, the best ranking was 1, while the worst was 7. In the grand totals, the theoretical best score is 12, while the worst possible score is 102.

Thank you to all of the people who made these power rankings possible:

late, cross that off the bingo

jordan-returns-age-38-top-moments-history-1568x882.jpg

live footage

(as far as I'm aware) the Rajas are 100% out of contention now, which sucks. I wanna start off with a genuine apology to the team; I 100% feel like- especially earlier on in the tour for the tougher w2-w3 losses that bit us- that I could have done so, so much more as a manager and gotten yall over the hump. This was one of my favorite teams to work with and one of my favorite groups of people to interact with in general despite being one of the most challenging tours I've managed or just been involved with in general. Specific shoutouts below-

clean - I know you had a tougher year but don't let it bother you too too much, you're still one of the absolute GOATs and one of my favorite people on this whole site. Its always kickass to team with you and this year was no different. I'll miss the midnight test games till next year, lmao. You're the best, boss.

Lasen - alright, maybe you really are cursed... LOL. In all serious, I've wanted to team with you for FOREVER and I'm so hyped I finally got to make it happen this season. You're one of my favorite people ever (despite the warcrimes I get in my instagram DMs) and you were such a backbone for the whole team. I can't thank you enough for all you did this season, you're the best

temp - You stepped in late season and stepped up, it was such a blast getting to talk with you and watching you cook/play. You're such a genuine cool dude and a really great player, I wish I gave you more run earlier lol

Nalorium - You've always been one of my fav people to watch on this site, and I think that feeling is only stronger after this tour. One of the funniest guys I've ever met on Smogon, an absolute menace of a pilot, and I got to hear like 3000 pages of EG Jhonx lore from you and Lasen. Rooting for you in whatever comes next and will ABSOLUTELY try to get on a team with you again bossman, you're epic

Ming549 - Its been so cool seeing you back and better than ever man. You were absolutely another backbone to this team, always there for tests and team help in basically whatever format. Also you're still a crackhead in the builder LOOOOL love you man

Sificon - to make up for not giving you games on the venoms, you got every week on the rajas LOOOOL... okay in all seriousness the moment you cooked my ass week 1 with a scovillain I had no doubts about how well you'd do all season, and i can't thank you enough for being one of our SV stalwarts. You're amazing in and out of game and I'm really glad I got a chance to team with you again.

frankjosh - I've always had a really high opinion of you as a player just from watching other stuff, and after teaming with you I can 100% say that my gut feeling was right. You're fucking stellar, dude, and I gotta apologize for fucking you a few weeks with teams that just didn't work well enough. Its been awesome teaming with you and I really hope to see you around CAP more in the future!

Lialiabeast - You came into the slot I knew the least about and carried every week in it. For that alone I can't thank you enough, but I also can't thank you enough for being such great vibes and such a great person to get to know, and for letting me osmosis enough DPP skill in our tests to feel like I'm not entirely reliant on team preview lol. I'm excited to see what you do in the future and I hope to see you around CAP more soon as well :)

Miyoko - Bummer I couldn't talk to you as much as I was hoping, and I'm sorry your game earlier was so short notice. From what we did interact I think you're a really cool dude

Boomenheimer - I hope you have dodged the pinsir virus, I'm not sure I have LOL. You're such a fucking cool dude, you were always such a massive help every week in SM and I absolutely loved every interaction I had with you. I'm really, really glad we picked you up and you better get pictures with Jumb at the ceremony

Rabia - I shoulda thrown you into oras or something just cause... in all seriousness, you're one of my best friends and helped a lot at points this season. Stick around and win some shit in CAP again goddamnit!!

Clementine - aerilate anonymous himself. You had a fucking amazing season and absolutely blew my mind in terms of what can be done with SM CAP. I will be running pinsir 30x a week now. I'm really glad to have gotten to know you, I think you're an absolutely amazing dude and are fucking hilarious to top it off, as well as being a fantastic builder and pilot. Definitely keep an eye on that pinsir addiction though... could be dangerous

Earthflax - you said in cord that you hoped you contributed a little to the team, and at least in my eyes you were hugely important to us. You helped out everywhere, were one of the best hype men for the whole team, a fucking hilarious dude and I don't think we woulda gotten anywhere close to playoffs without what you added. Genuinely think you rock, dude.

Wulfanator - the three(four)peat wasn't to be, but managing with you again was a treat. At this point you're like a brother to me man, I can't wait to see all the success that's gonna come your way in a million ways (and the jerseys. so many jerseys to come). I know you're in a weird spot w/CAP but regardless of what and where you end up, you'll still be one of the people I'm closest with on the planet. Love you dude.

Joeshh - Your help late this season was invaluable and I loved seeing you around again. Sorry your season wasn't as successful as you'd like but you're still the fucking goat.

pannu and Dj Breloominati♬ - you guys had nothing to play for this last week but us, and you guys played your asses off to try and make it happen. I can't thank you enough for that, genuinely, and the energy and effort will 100% be matched in the future o7

I got to talk and play with a lot of folks this tour who are epic- spoo , D2TheW , Fragments , dex , Baloor just to name a few. To those of yall who I knew before, you're still epic. To the folks I met for the first time this tour, you're also epic and I'm excited to keep in touch.

I'm excited to see playoffs from the stands this time around, and its definitely not the last you'll see of me (pray to god that I don't go from Wizards Jordan to Hornets Owner Jordan...). TODDVITATIONAL INCOMING

GGs all, great run and I had a ton of fun. On to the next.

Gonna use what little visibility this thread will get to shout out the absolute GOAT and a very close friend poopidoopii. Everything that I've done in CAP, before and now, has always been with him. Even though he went undrafted (insane) he was still always building and testing with me for the love of the game. To future team tour managers: take a chance on this guy. He's an insanely innovative builder (maybe too innovative) and he plays like he is on crack cocaine in the best way. So long as you don't let him pull up to games with the dogshit 6CAP teams he builds to make me mad you will see results.

ss cap is the best metagame. here are some teams to use in the best metagame.

:ss/tomohawk::ss/caribolt::ss/volcarona::ss/ninetales-alola::ss/weavile::ss/cawmodore:

Just an HO. I think this team probably needs Garchomp over Cawmodore. Cawm has Chuggalong syndrome in SS where people over prep for it and it ends up not being very good.

:ss/slowbro::ss/zeraora::ss/clefable::ss/astrolotl::ss/equilibra::ss/zapdos:

I had a suspicion going into the tour that Astrolotl was somewhat slept on. I feel like it matches up well into SS CAP trends, and Argh really isn't as free into it as you would think. Zeraora + offensive Zapdos wears down Grounds fast while Astrolotl and Clef pile on residual damage. I originally nicknamed this "DLC 1 Team" because it straight up looks like a DLC 1 team + Zapdos.

:ss/equilibra::ss/arghonaut::ss/heatran::ss/blacephalon::ss/reuniclus::ss/zapdos:

It is ewin balance. Weaken everything with Heatran + Equilibra, hold down the fort with Zapdos and Arghonaut, and sweep late-game with either Reuniclus or Blacephalon. Very normal team that always has a chance to win.

:ss/tapu-koko::ss/hawlucha::ss/caribolt::ss/urshifu-rapid-strike::ss/landorus-therian::ss/ferrothorn:

Caribolt is a good Pokemon. It is very difficult to check and forces the opponent to play very conservatively because you CANNOT give it more than one free turn. Hawlucha + Urshifu weaken or KO all the phys def checks while Explosion Lando can snipe opposing Landorus and Slowbro.

:ss/chromera::ss/magnezone::ss/clefable::ss/landorus-therian::ss/slowbro::ss/melmetal:

I thought Chromera could be better than thought previously with Scarf because it do do all the damage. Steel-types bother it, especially Melmetal, so Magnezone and Slowbro are there for that. Because we have a Magnezone, Melmetal is a good pick as always, and Clefable provides all the support.

:ss/equilibra::ss/garchomp::ss/tapu-lele::ss/weavile::ss/zapdos::ss/toxapex:

Probably one of the better SS CAP teams out there (the 65% winrate team!). Double defensive Ground-types are very difficult for a lot of teams to break through, Weavile and Tapu Lele are great breakers, and Zapdos is Zapdos, handles Equilibra and Cawm and the other Steel-types we don't really like dealing with. Strangely, I've found that the most common wincon of the team is not the threat of a Weavile sweep but the threat of Toxapex just outlasting everything once Tapu Lele and Weavile incur their pounds of flesh. Therefore, I think the moveset for it is pretty locked to those 4 moves.

:ss/pelipper::ss/volkraken::ss/barraskewda::ss/zapdos::ss/seismitoad::ss/ferrothorn:

It's rain! But with Volkraken! Volkraken is fun. I don't think it is particularly good, but rain is rain it'll always be decent enough to win, and Volkraken gives you that slight edge in 2HKOing Tapu Fini and Toxapex without having to rely on prediction like you need to do with Volcanion.

Also, since my team is out, I can show the Equilibra spread I came up with this tour, which I hope becomes more standard. Equilibra should always have some custom ass spread in the dex, imo.

Equilibra @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 52 Def / 112 SpA / 40 SpD / 52 Spe
Modest Nature
- Earth Power
- Doom Desire
- Rapid Spin
- Pain Split

Defense is a Hemo thing, don't remember the rest would have to do some reverse calcing. I think SpD is a Chuggalong roll or smth, idr. Anyways, have fun with it. I like Equilibra hitting hard, and this does that.

- Rapid Spin
- Pain Split

Defense is a Hemo thing, don't remember the rest would have to do some reverse calcing. I think SpD is a Chuggalong roll or smth, idr. Anyways, have fun with it. I like Equilibra hitting hard, and this does that.
where is the squad

As I've told my mates before, this tour is the most fun I've had playing Pokemon in a very long time, and our team's environment is the main reason why. Everyone I've interacted with was rly nice, rly helpful and fucking hilarious, our SM channel was a whole mess by the end with people trying to figure out how to build with Mega Mawile without slotting another Mega on the team. I also schizoposted a LOT at dead hours just for people to wake up to 200+ messages to go through, all for me to suggest Pin for the 4th week in a row.
Anyways before going into shoutouts and everything, I wanted to share my thoughts on the SM CAP metagame, share teams I've built and explain why I loaded them:

Week 1 vs seth:
:pinsir-mega: :tapu-koko: :equilibra: :tapu-fini: :landorus-therian: :victini:
This is the first (but definitely not the last time) I brought one of my all time fav mons to use: Mega Pinsir
In a metagame largely ruled by Equilibra stuffing Elecs left and right, Pinsir is actually quite a good pick when its checks are made worse with Libra simply existing.
I wanted to revamp some team I've been using in SM OU for quite some time with Pin+Zone, but since Zone is very likely ass in SM CAP, I went with Libra instead, helping me into Elecs & giving Pin Doom Desire + spin support.
This is also the first time I've loaded Physical Breaker + Koko/Lando + Water Resist + Steel + Speed control, and once again, definitely not the last
also wanted to point out that to people who've said I threw this (mainly spoo) that my Vic had enough bulk invest to eat Acro on turn 17, and that Pin/HP Fire Lando won the 2v1 into the bird in case of a crit

Week 2 vs DripLegend:
:latias-mega: :tornadus-therian: :arghonaut: :gliscor: :ferrothorn: :toxapex:
This is deadass a slightly edited SM OU team lol.
Gliscor Latias Pex Torn doing their usual thing, I just swapped Spikes Ferro + Rocks Roar Kommo-o for Rocks Ferro + Spikes CircleThrow Argh
I don't think Argh is great on non-fat but I'll go into VR at a later point, it just fit well here and gives insurance into setup fat breakers like Manaphy
Team is still hilariously weak to Kyurem Black & Lele despite Flyinium Torn and the billion hazards I have, but it's prolly good enough to load again.

Week 4 vs Tace:
:pinsir-mega: :landorus-therian: :tapu-koko: :caribolt: :jirachi: :tapu-fini:
Oh look, it's pin + elec + lando + water resist + steel + late game cleaner
Pin once again felt like a no-brainer pick into no Zapdos and no Koko on the scout, this time with Caribolt + Koko to soften checks
KokoPin is a very nice combination, as Koko Uturns on usual switch ins like Lando, grasses or Libra for Pin to get free turns and either click Aerilate boosted Returns or SD and break early on
Pin was loaded unpunished for the 2nd time this tour and genuinely felt like a great pick into ttar/bao teams, despite Rotom being a good check to it

Week 5 vs pannu:
:pelipper: :swampert-mega: :ferrothorn: :weavile: :manaphy: :tornadus-therian:
We were supposed to play early into the week, pannu didn't seem to care that much, so I loaded your usual SM OU Weavile Rain with a billion techs to ease up bad matchups (like this one lol)
I don't think Rain is great and I wouldn't usually load Rain without Flying resists like this one, but I went with a fatass Manaphy + Eject Button Torn to make up for the lack of resists to pretty much anything lol
Torn showed how dumb it can be when UTurning into breakers like Weavile or Pert, both of which are impossible to switch into without the one or two dedicated checks in the tier.

Week 6 vs Gtcha
:pinsir-mega: :magearna: :kommo-o: :caribolt: :greninja-ash: :landorus-therian:
Game was won but I binned this after a very long weekend, my opponent being late and an unfortunate 12ish% roll in my opponent's favor to KO Caribolt with Flame Burst in Sun
I could've won this if I locked the fuck in, especially after lots of luck to come back from that unfort roll, but I misscalced and just lost LOL
Anyways, I wanted to go a different direction with Pin after loading KokoLandoSteelWaterPin twice, and I went with a more offensive build featuring offensive rocks Lando (died on turn5 while setting up rocks instead of Booming on Rotom), sash Ashgren (died on turn2 while doing p much nothing) and fat dd Gear (got insanely lucky, all for me to bin this by not SDing again on non Wisp Rotom with Pin)
Could've been a 6-0 run from me but I decided to be bad at mons

Week 7 vs Mimikyu Stardust
:gardevoir-mega: :heatran: :serperior: :landorus-therian: :pajantom: :jumbao:
I rly wanted to try out Pajantom because I thought it was either broken or really bad, no inbetween
Turns out Pajantom is eh when you're not loading it into the exact matchup you're trying to fish
I was blessed with facing non-poison move Plasmanta, and my guy Gardevoir went absolutely brazy because of it
Scarf Bao also went stupid into no-fairy resist after Manta dropped to Garde, securing a nice win after some very slow and unneccesary turns of me trying to get something out of Pajantom
Overall decent team, not sure it's Pajantom's best showing but it worked

Quite happy with what I've brought this tour, I've had lots of fun building with SHSP, Boomenheimer and sometimes Lasen popping in, telling me to use ReuniTar despite those team being ass, and never showing up again (especially Boomenheimer, insanely cool guy)
We did end up with some unused builds that you could try out if you rly want:
:mawile-mega: :landorus-therian: :tornadus-therian: :kartana: :equilibra: :rotom-wash:
rest of em are just pinsir builds with different mons, probably worse than the ones ive brought

On that note:
SHSP
I hadn't rly interacted with you outside of us facing each other for past CAP tours and BOY was I missing out. Absolutely loved teaming up with you; I felt like we had a great dynamic in SM channel, building some questionable stuff and ending up with binning half of what we started because Mawile is a bitch to build with.
Thanks for tolerating and actually encouraging my stupid ideas this season, I've really had a blast playing for your team.

Wulfanator
Unfortunately didn't interact with you as much as I did with SHSP which is a shame cause you're a great guy :(
tyvm for drafting me and for the help in SM, I rly appreciated the help and ideas whenever I didn't know where to start, and of course, thanks for allowing me to Pin multiple times LOL

Boomenheimer
The legend himself.
I've known you for some time but never had the chance to actually team up and talk to you and you really are THAT guy. Despite me seemingly straight up ignoring the different builds you've sent in our channel, they've helped me a lot when trying to figure out where to start. You unfortunately didn't get to shine as much as you usually do this season, but I look forward to seeing you in future CAP tours. Love you dude <3

Lasen
Same as above, never really had the chance to interact with you in a teamtour environment, our previous interactions being yelling at Ajet in Davecord over and over LOL and I've had a blast shitposting with you this season
Hope we can team up again someday, and maybe you'll stop bringing Reunitar everytime I need to load something
also how the fuck do I change my computer background I still have wide Naviathan

Nalorium
Not rly much to say here as I was completely absent from the BW channel outside after week 1 :(( but yea you're still the goat, great record as expected. hope you won't have too much trouble going back to regular BW OU and not be able to slot Mollux on a team, i know how hard it can be </3
hope we can team up again sometime, I've had a blast with you

@Saharajas
Didn't get to interact much with most of you due to 99% of my activity being in SM channel but you were all really cool (despite that one person who told me to kill myself when i pinged everyone asking if i should put toxic on koko (what)) and I wish you all the best in future tours and everything

I'll go into SM CAP VR in details a bit later because I actually need to work now sorry byeeeeeeeee
