Thanx again. One last Scarf question(s), since choice scarf makes you go faster, then your able to use trick first? If you do do you keep the 50% boost and negate the effect of having to use one move? So that way you can use punishment when your opponent gets the boost?

Edit: I got beaten to the Choice Scarf...also, you don't keep the boost when you trick Choice Scarf. It just removes the effects of the item entirely, since you're switching the scarf with your opponent's item. The only punishment you'll be doling out is their impudence at sending in a wall to try and stop you. :9

--I need some help--

I wasn't sure if this warranted its own topic in the RMT forum or whatnot, so to be safe I'm posting here.

Beat the tower tycoon last night. :D

But just barely. Mostly stupid mistakes on my part, but if I had put Drill Peck or Brave Bird on my Skarm...anyway. I would like suggestions on movesets--or completely different Pokemon to replace the ones I already have.

My current team--I'm just posting them and their movesets, because their natures and EVs aren't the best--is the following.

Skarm @ Lefties--Stealth Rock, Spikes, Roar, Roost

Swampert @ Choice Band--Ice Beam, Brick Break, EQ, Waterfall

Altaria @ Wise Glasses--Dragon Pulse, FT, Rest, Perish Song

lol, it's a team--surprised it even got me up to the Tycoon when it was an average team at best in Emerald ('cept I used a slightly different Swampert). Also has a Zangoose weak. I'm reluctant to change Skarm seeing as she's a...she, and I used up my SR and Roost TMs on her (I am SO stupid sometimes...). However, I will readily listen to suggestions as to how to change this for the better.

I do know a couple of things that definitely need fixing--Brick Break on Swampert (redundant) and no attack moves on Skarm. Should I stick Brave Bird on Skarm and replace Brick Break with Return, should I replace one or two of them, or should I just start completely from scratch? If so, which Pokemon do you suggest?

Thank you. ^^

Also...sorry for the block of text...

Choice Scarf boosts your Speed by 1.5x. If that makes you faster than the opponent, then you'll normally be able to Trick first. Trick switches the held items of the Pokemon, though, which means that your Pokemon will lose the Choice Scarf and the 1.5x boost--unless the other Pokemon also has a Choice Scarf, but that will still restrict your moves iirc (if I recall correctly).

Also, boosts from held items do not increase the power of Punishment; stat/stage boosts do. For example, if your opponent uses Amnesia (+2 Special Defense) and you use Punishment, Punishment's power will be increased by 20*2, or 40.

Thanx. Well I just got an Idea, but i need a confirmation that it works.
Does Haze reset stat changes of a pokemon that used Power/Guard Swap to change its stats? Also does Psyc up copy the stat changes of a pokemon that used Power/Guard Swap? If so, can Haze reset that Psyc up + Guard Swap?

Power Swap and Guard Swap trade stat boosts and drops with the target, not base stats. Since stat changes are traded, Haze and Psych Up should work normally. I haven't tested this, but I'd be shocked if it worked any other way.

EDIT: Out of curiosity, why do you ask? Are you planning an elaborate Doubles combo or something?

Who decides who is a "DP policy maker"? Who arbitrarily has the authority to discuss the metagame, and why can't I? Are certain battlers more "elite" than others and thus get to discuss metagame rules? Who picked them to be in charge?

Replace Brick Break with SR and SR on Skarm with Brave Bird.

From what I can tell, to get permission to post in that board, you'll have to either get a badge, contribute something significant to the site, or prove to be a competent battler (This is how the likes of StrangerDanger, Light, and Aldaron can post there, I believe.). Of course, chaos should ultimately have the final say.

Yes I am, I plan on guard swapping shuckle's defenses and Power Swaping Deoxys(attack) attack stats and baton passing them to Blissy holding leftovers. Giving me 714 hp 504 attack 614 defense ??? Sp.Attack (really high) 528 defense ??? speed. Creating a super pokemon. However a Haze would completly destroy this strategy. So can some1 please check if its true? Idk anything that can learn these moves (cept maybe Smeargle).

Oh well....waht bot power trick? Besides Power trick, are there any that do cause Power trick cant be the only one? it only swaps the user's attack and defense stats. So are there any that switch different stats?

Edit: (Btw I'm trying to create a super shuckle, Power trick + Gyro ball did a Helluva amount of damage, but the draw back is my attack became my defense... so a physical attacked pwned me so I need to find a way to cover that up.... W8!!! I GOT!!! Have shuckle use power trick, then have a partner use Psyc up!!! Then power trick back, and have my partner use Power Swap!!! :D TADAAA!!! will that work?!? GOODNESS I HOPE SOO. Cuz the only drawback would be that the power swapper would have -5?? attack but if he only uses Sp.Atk then shouldn't be a problem.

Whoa, OK. Slow down. Here's how things work:

Power Swap trades changes to the Attack and SpAttack stats with the target.
Guard Swap trades changes to the Defense and SpDefense stats with the target.
Power Trick swaps base Attack and Defense scores, but not stat changes (so Attack boosts still affect the new Attack stat, not the Defense stat).

Power Trick is not copied with Psych Up. Believe me, I've tested it. It is Baton Passable, but that's a different story. Even if Power Trick were copied with Psych Up, Power Swap wouldn't give the target any boosts because Power Trick switches base stats and Power Swap trades stat boosts. Not to mention that this combo would take a loooong time to set up, and for part of that time, Shuckle's Defense is still very low.

So I admire your creativity, but this combo is impossible. Even if it were possible, it probably wouldn't be practical. Keep the ideas coming, though. I've come up with a lot of crap ideas myself. Keep thinking and eventually you'll come across a good combo.

EDIT: Oh, and to answer your question, Power Trick is the only move that swaps base stats like that. Maybe for 5th Gen they'll have some other ones.

Hmmmm....... hmm....Belly drum + baton pass to shuckle then Rollout + Metronome(item). Is that good?

Well, the only thing that learns both Belly Drum and Baton Pass is Smeargle, which is kind of fragile. It's not a bad idea, though, because Smeargle can use Spore to put an opponent to sleep and give itself time to set up. You'd probably have to use this in Single Battles rather than Double Battles, but it's worth a try.

I'm not sure whether Metronome gives a higher boost with each turn of Rollout or if it only gives a new boost each time you select Rollout. I'll do a test to see if that's a good idea. You might want a Lum Berry anyway, though. Otherwise an opponent could put your Shuckle to sleep and stop the Rollout.

It gives a boost per turn the move is executed i think. It does I read it once that it works. I read that a shuckle that has 6 attack stages (3 swords dance baton passed) then uses power trick and uses rollout holding a metronome, it does over 960 base damage on the 5th turn.

edit: its around 960, it coulf be lower or higher depending on pokemon.

Smeargle shouldn't have a prob in doubles, I mean I am a legend tamer. *CoughDarkrai'sDarkvoidCough*. .... excuse me *CoughBothFoeAsleepCough*.... :D well I'll find a way to help smeargle.

Sorry, but I just did a test. I can tell you with 100% certainty that the Metronome item doesn't increase Rollout's power each time it executes. It only increases it each time it's selected in succession. On the bright side, this means you can give it a Wide Lens instead so that you don't miss and lose your Rollout boosts.

EDIT:

Here's the data, if you're interested. Golem holding a Metronome using Rollout against a Marowak:

13
24
47
99
?? (Marowak faints)

?? (Pidgey faints while I revive Marowak)
57 (critical hit)
58
105
?? (I swap in a Staraptor to take the hit)

16
32
66
127
?? (Marowak can't survive the hit)

Can someone give me a step by step guide to getting the events, like, from PokeSav to in game?

I downloaded it, to try and see how it would work, but I can't seem to figure it out.
