Emergency update: The official Pokemon forums have removed automatic media embeds entirely, including any images. All links now just show as plain URL text. This puts a stop to the logout link exploit. I appreciate the quick response by the admins, but it begs the question of if they will ever return, or should have in the first place.
I am not in a position to add screenshots currently but may update when I can. But you can take this as a sign of what the Pokemon forums may look like from now on, though they already removed file uploads a while ago.

As an update on the mods, Mod_Ginger made a rare personal response confirming they are real people. I believe the Best Answers function seems to be bugged in that it can only show 10 messages on a page at a time, but page 2 will only show the normal/unapproved answers on that page, so best answers past 10 will just disappear into the void.

Continuing on from the vibes, a few days ago YagoFuecoco was going pretty hard on the special Pokemon threads, not that they are bad. I think their relative innocence is refreshing in the times of discourse we live in and represent who these forums were probably intended for. This guy is always about pure positivity and is confident in his own opinions, something that is not easy for a lot of people to express.
On the other hand, BlaziiBoi has continued the dark mangosteen saga with some new satanic revelations, and made some other interesting meta posts recently.

removing embeds is probably the worst possible fix they could have done since they've been marking posts as unsafe anyways. so now they have a half-functioning forum with a looming security crisis that they either don't know how to fix (bad) or already have fixed and are just making things annoying for the entire forum (also bad)

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of the Pokemon community forums being made generally aware to the public, based on the pokemon.com article about it. Looking back on the past year, I would say it ended up faring much better than most would have expected, with the bad actors simply just forgetting about its existence when it wasn't novel anymore in favour of sticking to the website formerly known as Twitter or whatever social media they were already on. The result ends up being a surprisingly stable balance as a haven for those who have nowhere better to post about casual Pokemon, and is still accumulating new members to this day. Certainly most people in this very thread didn't expect it to go much farther either, and I haven't noticed many other smogon migrants myself.
Looking back on the early pages I forgot that this forum used to have signatures. Incidentally I feel like recently they removed the automatic approvals or toned them down heavily, maybe related to rank or account age. A lot of people have noticed the same thing here, with only a rank 1 user even mentioning the filter in recent times.

I still have notifications for it and it shows up under the OP's post count but it gives a permission problem when trying to access it. I still have the OP saved though, and to sum up the thread basically this guy was complaining about a player throwing and wanting them to get banned, while I was saying they won't ban people just based on gameplay and the forums have even less to do with this. I have to wonder what the mods are planning with this, maybe privately addressing it or just worried about calling 80764 out by their username. CherryFizz was also saying you can get the mods to respond by asking "can someone from TPCi respond" which is what they did earlier and wasn't particularly effective.

I mean, the only issue in practice is that they had an embed feature that they allow the logout link to be embedded, which automatically sends a request to log you out in practice but wouldn't be unsafe otherwise because it was under the same community.pokemon.com domain. So I guess it's more like the latter but the fix should be just disabling that one feature anyway.

Today I solved a long standing mystery. It turns out that it does copy your latest status updates, but ONLY if you post them from the mobile version of the site and not desktop for some reason. But now I too have a blurb on my profile, and it even comes with a clear button that goes to https://community.pokemon.com/en-us/profile/clear/3489. Though when I access it when logged out it creates a non-permission error so this probably wasn't tested very much.
Speaking of mobile, this might just be my phone but the text editor on the site seems to behave weirdly with @ mentions and autocomplete, duplicating words and stuff if I wait too long.

The impact of this thread is so powerful that the OP only ever made the one post yet is still on the points leaderboard with 214 points.
Speaking of points, I noticed the anniversary badge only seems to actually drop when the user next logs in, and not necessarily automatically on their anniversary date, so this is a good measure of retention rate and if users really stuck through coming back since last July or not. So far only 382 people on the whole forum even have this badge, and since July 3 only 6 users have logged in to actually claim it and 4 are regulars. Overall a far cry from the peak activity of the forums last year, with most being banned or just forgetting about it as I proposed.

I did some investigating on this and it seems like this is a vanilla forums bug where plaintext inputted into the rich text editor can show up as this for some reason, so this might just be a bug and not him again, but he was the only one able to even do this before.

recently logged back into my Official Pokémon Forums Account and was fascinated to learn that there is a button you can click in the settings to publicly display your email address on your profile
At the least I believe it's opt out and most people don't even have it listed fortunately as far as I've seen, but still pretty bad when we don't even have a customizable About Me. I know one person publicly brought it up during the whole TCG Live debacle as an invitation though which I believe is the only positive mention of this feature being pointed out. It still bothers me that they show your email when you click your profile icon now, and I actually have something to say about that later.

But ultimately, in his video I found visual PROOF that the top right icon dropdown menu was redesigned fairly recently, and here it is now. I replaced my actual email with "email" here, but it does show your email address here whenever you click which I still do not want. I guess any future streamers should note that clicking this will show your email, so maybe use a throwaway. I do like how it's condensed though, but I found it easier to move my mouse a bit less to click my own profile icon to get to my profile before.
Also YouTube recommended me these old fan forums from 16 years ago I want to highlight, back from 2008 when we were just 8 years away from the release of Pokemon Go. Who would have predicted back then there would be forums on pokemon.com today?

Some of this text is actually hyperlinks that you can't really tell apart.
I just noticed they were biding their time on Page 4, and the spam links are hyperlinked but you can't tell unless you hover over the text, so it just looked like random country posting all along.
I feel like I just stumbled upon the bigger hidden picture that makes everything fit together in this grand conspiracy.
Also this guy noticed all along but just links to receiptify.life... which is another spam site and the name that they're advertising. Was this a human all along following the trend and pretending to make fun of the obvious bots but being an advertiser themselves?

Second major announcement: embeds have returned and quotes and images alike have been restored. Nature is healing.
Third major announcement: In a TPCi newsletter email about the new summer events, the Pokemon forums are directly linked to and promoted at the bottom, linking directly to the new SV subforum. This may lead to a new windfall of users depending on how many people still open emails these days. Regardless, I think we can all agree that TPCi is really going hard on pushing the forums now and today has been huge for it with all the progress. I am interested to see if anything else from the survey comes to pass.

This is an intriguing proposal, though I have to question what the official Forums logo is. Is it the Pikachu banner, the category picture, or the share icon? Keep us updated.
I have begun the smogon summary experiment. I plan to make a separate thread for each topic as is customary on the Pokemon forums compared to the Smogon thread culture. So far I have only received one response.
