Randbats Spotlight Ladder!
The Randbats Spotlight Ladder's purpose is simple: to give formats that would not otherwise have one a chance to be played on a wider scale. Each other month, four options will be given, and the winner after a week of voting will have its own ladder for a period of two months!
As usual, this Randbats Spotlight will feature a SMOGON TOURNAMENT related to it. More details about this tournament are included in this thread, so keep reading!
YOU MAY VOTE FOR MULTIPLE FORMATS!
What are all these formats and mods?
Gen 9 Scalemons Metronome Battle: If you didn't know Metronome is under the aegis of the randbats room, its debut in a Spotlight cycle will teach you that! You'll have to do minimal team building in order to create the best pairing you can thing of for this inherently random format, and Scalemons will allow you to pick some unorthodox pokemon, whose bst is getting approximated to 600. Pick your two mons, click Metronome and...pray it goes well x)
Gen 9 Bring 12-Pick 6 Shared Power Random Battle: There are 12 pokemon on team preview and 6 to bring into battle. Shared Power is here to spice things up, so that every time a pokemon gets switched out, the next ones will receive its ability alongside their standard one. Pick wisely to create the best pokemon, stack the best abilities and break the opponent's team! Or, on the contrary, build the most impenetrable team with Multiscale, Unaware etc. stacked together
Gen 5 Random Battle Blitz: The most anxiety-inducing format is back to promise fast paced matches in gen 5. Can you pick your move wisely with just 15 seconds at your disposal? Most importantly, can you survive your own Internet connection? If the answer to both is "yes", then maybe this is the right format for you!
Gen 8 Force of the Fallen Random Battle x 8 pokemon x Open Team Sheets: Gen 8 with 8 pokemon per team and ok, this was the easy part. Force of the Fallen works so that every time one of your pokemon faints, the teammates inherit the last move of its moveset. Dynamax adds another layer of complexity for this peculiar metagame, but open team sheets means you should not be caught of guard by stuff like... Shell Smash Stonjourner with Leaf Blade???
!IMPORTANT! Tournament information
This month's Randbats Spotlight is going to include a SMOGON TOURNAMENT. The format of this tournament will be the format chosen as the Randbats Spotlight. The length of this tournament will be 2 months, which will determine the pace of the tournament. The prize of the tournament will be 1 month of RPW (Room Prize Winner) and the possibility to pick a format for the next Randbats Spotlight poll!
How do I sign up?
Please do not sign up in this thread, a new thread will be open for the tournament itself.
Rules and additional details:
- When selecting a format to vote on as the winner, you will have a wide array of options, from modded variants of ladders that already exist, to formats that are challenge-only, to formats that don't exist at all! However, these are subject to coding limitations, and formats that have recently been a bimonthly spotlight cannot be voted on again for several months.
- This thread is open for discussion. Stay cordial, follow all site rules.
- Only votes in the poll above will count. Please do not type your vote out in a reply.
