NOC Low Power Mafia -- Mafia Win

considering there are people like jalmont who wants to no vote, and people are making reads off like 3 posts that i bet will be wholly inaccurate

I'd rather not have to wade through 40 pages of jokes when doing ISOs later in the game; can we knock off the jokes, especially ones that are half a dozen posts long with nothing BUT the joke in them?
Knock Off (Japanese: はたきおとす Knock Off) is a damage-dealing Dark-type move introduced in Generation III. It is TM181 in Generation IX.

Effect

Knock Off inflicts damage and knocks off the target's held item if it has one.

If an Exp. Share or Lucky Egg was knocked off, the Pokémon will still gain experience accordingly. If an Amulet Coin was knocked off, the Pokémon will still gain prize money accordingly. Knock Off can knock off Mail (unlike other item-manipulating effects, which often cannot affect Mail).

ag i think you know the answer to this one unfortunately

anyway i have no reads other than that everyone's playing according to their meta nad ppl should stop scumreading skip

i really had this idea that we cant form accurate reads on day 1. like are aspects like level of analysis, tone, etc. really not meaningfully different between mafia and town just because its day 1? Idk I think saying we cant read people on day 1 is like a limiting mindset man. maybe y'all can'y but im motherfuckin m2h i will read shit!! dont invalidate me damnit

tbh i totally get the sentiment about this, but you totally can make accurate reads off of a few posts! there’s a lot of asterisks behind this of course (general skill, how you and the other party approach thought, familiarity with the other person)

sure you can expected odds your way through the thread as is normal but i think it’s a way less engaging way to approach the game. IMO. I like the methodology of feeling like I caught someone for a behavior that I thought was unusual, or had a correct towncore. yeah there’s obviously going to be inaccuracies, like duh, but there’s also games where you’re right too, and this helps you apply what stuff you caught for worked or didn’t work in future games too if you play more.

plus you also have to consider a world where everyone does this, like it’s also a tracking point later in the game, your vote does this too but so does what you say about other people. it’s your receipts that keep you in - or out- of the poe. if you have 5 people making no reads d1, especially in a lower power setup, how are you going to distinguish them in the future days to come?

fair enough, eh, i've had made conscious effort to improve my production of reads because I heard someone say it gives others content to analyse (i don't like reads normally tbh). still don't really like reading d1 but will try to produce more content ig

What that person said is totally right ftr

ultimately you don’t need to fake anything you don’t have though. The way people approach the game is important too.

i dunno, you can see it for yourself, most folks here are not taking the game super serious. any reads that happen today are gonna shift significantly as people have actual things to read off of, such as wagonomics and who gets targeted at night. i wouldn't let someone's d1 soulread matter to me when we're at d5 and it's down to the final vote. anything of value in d1 to anyone will get dragged into d2, at which point it'll start being enlightening as to how people react to it.
nobody's gonna bring up people's reads of skipper's entrance or #31 because these things in the end are not gonna matter, let alone pulsar's bingo board stuff. but maybe people will bring up the jalmont no-vote discussions, bc those do tend to be impactful, or people will bring up the arguable pocketing happening around tommy/nuxl/etc during that phase of the thread. or maybe we'll talk about the ck stuff? if someone cares about it, itll come up again when we're more serious and people feel incentivized to respond genuinely to stuff.
but when most of the thread is idle chatter, i'm gonna wait until folks double down on reads in future cycles before caring about d1 reads

I am waiting to see about pulsar more but I do think the skipper opening and early crash out on jalmont was actually scummy and I will probably cite that as an example later if that read becomes more solid.

ya! that's def fine! i don't think skipper's entrance is relevant, but if it keeps coming up then it becomes part of the conversation. but right now day 1 i think that going, hey skip's scum, just off the entry, i don't care for that. if his behavior continues to be scummy in your pov, like you said, you'd cite it. but i don't think it matters right now tbh that you think skip's scummy

Saying that what I think does not matter right now is like saying that toast does not matter on a sandwich.
