I want my likes back to gamble. Instructions weren't clear initially that all ou suspect related like pledges will be pooled for palafin.

Even if my likes can't be given back to me do not give them to a palafin pool

It's a small amount of likes but there's principal involved here

Thanks and happy holidays

:talonflame: there is an active discussion going on please be patient

I’ll use my likes to get a banner.

The 2700 likes I have remaining can go to someone else who is short of getting a banner for themselves, first person to reply to this post gets to claim it, but only if you actually need the likes!!

I assume this is ok UT.

:talonflame: yes that is fine, enjoy your banner

Official-ish statement/ruling:

Regarding SV OU's suspect prize, it is clear not everyone understood likes were being put into one pool. We are not going to force people who wanted a suspect only on X to exhaust their likes on Y or vice versa. A post saying "I want to suspect Tera Blast" or "I want to restest Solgaleo" should not be automatically pooled into a Palafin suspect. It is on me and only me to have worded by blurb the OP used better, to market this clearly, and to have monitored the thread closely.
This was an unprecedented situation and I should have considered every possibility before proposing anything. For this, I am sorry for my personal mistake and I want to be clear those details were decided by me, I take full accountability for that, and I apologize to those who are frustrated. I personally want(ed) a Palafin retest as my 178k like investment showed and thought this would be an exciting outcome, but we need to be fair and understanding here. It is not fair to make people use their likes on something they did not personally ask for -- even if it was stated ahead of time and in the thread (plus the OU thread), it was clear many people were not aware and they made this known.

When we were met with some complaints this afternoon, internal discussions took place about how we should proceed. The council discussed just doing a normal, council-backed Palafin re-test and refunding the likes. The council also discussed pivoting to the approach many perceived we were using: individual pools for each possible suspect. This would leave Palafin >300k, but short of 500k, and give noteworthy, but nowhere near close, totals to things like Tera Blast. Ultimately, we decided forcing a suspect in any shape or form would be in bad faith -- reverting the way they were pooled was optimal, leading us to now.
After discussing the concerns with staff and the OU council, it was agreed upon that it would not be fair to proceed with a suspect when a significant portion of the pooled likes were not supporting Palafin specifically (for reference, Palafin has >300k, but not quite 500k itself). It is best that we revert to pools for each suspect and seeing if any hit 500k individually (and, if not, then they will all be refunded). I can get a formal tally on Palafin specifically tomorrow when I am free and on computer (it is well short of 500k currently -- likely in the mid-300s -- and nothing else is in the vicinity either).
My initial thoughts were that pooling likes would make this more attainable and raise hype. It is hard to get a lot of people to agree on the direction of the site, tiering, or even strategy on this site, so it felt like 500k for any individual Pokemon would be unrealistic -- I even set the tone with a big contribution to Palafin day 1, but that alone is not close to enough. The best approach probably would have been setting it at 250k and making it separate up-front, but I did not picture it going this way or people posting specifically for one suspect or another.

I thought this approach would be cool and collaborative among those interested, but it does encounter the issue of people still exhausting their likes on something they do not necessarily want if they are in the minority. That is not what we want to happen to people, so pivoting away from it is for the best.
Ultimately, this whole concept was not communicated up-front effectively by me and a lot of people posted likes for X Pokemon, Y move, Z concept, etc. to the point that keeping up with that was impossible for me to keep up, control the narrative, or perfect this. I am sorry for that and further explanation is provided above in the HIDE tags.

The intention of this thread is for the community to have fun and the OU suspect prize was supposed to be an extension of that, not something marred by miscommunication and logistical headaches. UT has worked many hours to run this thread and so many people have enjoyed engaging with gambling, mystery boxes, and other profile prizes; I am very glad that this was a fun community builder and applaud the efforts that made this possible. I am hopeful Palafin can hit 500k standalone and implore interested parties to contribute, but fully accept our current position and hope people enjoy this thread regardless!

We simply must raise the 500k anyway despite this minor setback. How much time is left to do so?

I still think this is pretty fun despite the somewhat inevitable miscommunications amidst a wildly active thread and a pool where Finch would have been 40% of the voice anyway. Over halfway there with a rally can get the test I believe.
