Resource VGC: Ask a Simple Question, Get a Simple Answer

Another question, what do you think the best place to start in there journey as a VGC player when they are a kid. Unless I go to a regional (which I doubt my parents want to go) there is not much local events I can attend to as a kid. (Btw I would be in the senior if I went to a regional). I want to still participate in VGC events in both showdown and wifi battles so where do you think the best place to start as a kid? I would really appreciate an answer.

DEFINITELY DO NOT hack anything in unless you wanna get DQed at events. For casual though it's fine ig.

The fastest way is probably using the item printer in the Indigo Disk DLC, you can find more about that here. And don't worry, it's completely legal :)

There are tours hosted here on Smogon and on a website called Limitless, both of which are online tours. You can of course practice on other the in-game ladder on cartridge, or the Pokemon Showdown! Ladder, or join the VGC Room on PS. There are also Discord servers that host practice. Finally, for bo1 practice of the sorts, you can enter the Grand and Global Challenges, which will grant Championship Points for Worlds. Try and find a group of people to prep and play with as well, since sometimes you just need some matchup practice.

You mentioned discord servers have some VGC tournaments, do you know any specific ones?
 
Which Pokemon are good walls against Miraidon in Reg G? Are any of them also good at using fake out, redirection, moves or abilities that cripple opponents (like nuzzle or intimidate), or moves or abilities that let the ally do more damage (like helping hand or decorate)?

Rillaboom resists Volt Switch and Electro Drift, shuts down electric terrain, and has Fake Out. Alternatively, Assault Vest Iron Hands does more damage, has Fake Out, and abuses Miraidon’s Terrain.

Some offensive checks include Landorus-I and Chien-Pao, which force it to Tera or switch.
 
Question: where should i go if i have an in depth regulation I team-building question? The VGC showdown room was no help and the question is probably a bit too complex for this thread. Any ideas would be appreciated, please and thanks!:heart:
 
Where's the best place to find venues for local tournaments? I checked the VGC website and I didn't see anything within an hour of where I lived and got a lil sad ngl

I would probably look for local Pokemon social media pages, discord servers, and Reddit pages. If you know anyone in your area you could also ask them.

You can either use the official Pokemon event locator,

Or the pokedata event finder which I tend to find a bit more clear and it allows you to filter by country state etc.

Otherwise discord servers from your area are usually your best shot.

"Thick Fat is usable, but Mamoswine can't use Icicle Crash or IceShard with it", why not? Aren't either moves obtainable through egg breeding along w/ the ability?

In the OU and DWOU pages for Mamoswine, sets featuring thick fat and both of these moves are present? Why is that?

I have no experience with vgc 2012 but I think it is probably something to do with legality in vgc not obtainability because of how its legal in other formats.

You mean it's not allowed in the context of Smogon-specific rules for VGC? Because the official rules for VGC definitely don't have that kind of specific ban right?

Or maybe it has to do with how the legality checks worked for the official tournaments back in the day?

I believe he means that in 2012 it wasn't legal when the person wrote that article, as the ability was not available yet while in DW OU it was available, and was eventually made available in OU
The only way to know for certain would be to go look for the threads that these analysis were posted and look at the dates.

I did some digging and according to this post dated December 28th, 2011; the HA for the entire Swinub line hadn't been released via official event or PGL and the 2012 season began in November of 2011

Hello, idk if this is VGC related but i'm doing a play through of pokemon sword to get zacian and i'm wondering if I should use a turbo controller to get past all the blocks of dialogue automatically instead of having to spam the a button.
