Why does Glalie look like a disco ball?

okay my bait wasn't taken but since this thread is in my vision again let it be known that i am NOT standing for this

disco is 70s. not 80s.

disco was publicly executed in 1979 that's how 70s it was

it was called disco demolition night. they gathered a bunch of disco records and destroyed them in a baseball stadium

1751396036547.jpg

it was organized by a rock dj (who is still alive btw), in opposition to the popularity of disco. he did a promotion with a baseball stadium to do the disco demolition in the middle of a game. the game ended up with more than double their expected attendees. after the demolition the crowd stormed the field and the game was called off

this event is not seen in a hugely positive light and that's not just because of the destruction and commotion. disco was at the time beloved in black communities and gay communities and a lot of vitriol towards disco was racist and homophobic in nature. a lot of people, both then and now, saw disco demolition night as an event of bigotry

some thought disco was already on the way out. but disco demolition night killed it for good. disco sales plummeted throughout the year. ultimately disco demolition night was an event that changed the decade much like the debut of the simpsons

and to remind you this took place in 1979. which is the end of the 70s. and not in the 80s. ffs

edit: fun fact webps preview when making a post for some reason so i had to fix those

OK but having a stat spread of all 70 would be terrible so lets just pretend for Glalie's sake that disco was from the 80's.

disco can be created in 2007 and be destroyed in 1979, time can work like that sometimes (pretend there's a picture of doctor who here the one i was going to put is also a fucking webp)
In that case disco ran from 2007 to 1979. That includes the 80's, meaning disco was from the 80's!

Does disco feel like a fake word to other people? Feels less like a music genre and more like a media type used as a world building detail in a steampunk fantasy. It’s got a sort of “Hey Greggario! Put the disco on the tracti and let’s listen to some tunes!” vibe.
