He's not wrong that not revealing any information is more effective for town because magias only source of influence over the kill is persuasive l, but it's a) boring and b) defeats the purpose of playing mafia so while it's 'optimal play' no one will ever do it, nor should they want to.

More importantly I know this whole discourse has happened already in the first popcorn games

It’s called a town slip btw, when you make yourself look town like that, mafia slip opposite way

In general it’s a very known thing and people tend to call out slips a lot more than they actually happen and also both town and mafia try to fake town slips regularly, it wouldn’t be a next level play even if he was faking it it’s something people do most games

It is not optimal play we would all be sitting here not being able to make reads if we didn’t provide any reads, so not only mafia don’t know who to support but also town don’t know who to shoot

And the rand odds I assume favour mafia (I didn’t actually and am not actually going to do the maths though)

You are right. I think objectively there are less stakes involved between the SmallStreet N0 decisions (picking who to recruit is a game winning decision potentially). The gunbearer decision is less important and also one which may happen multiple times this game. But there still had to be a decision process behind choosing Hyhy.

And I think the primary motivating factor to elect Hyhy would be that hes friendly with a few people on the maf team on a meta level and therefore less likely to shoot them.

What’s wrong with activity generation/ game theory on page 1, it’s fairly standard part for the course no?

You want people who won’t shoot you in the game for when it gets smaller though right

Like I do think what you’re saying makes sense and could be what mafia thought, because on paper you can say “oh hydro won’t shoot me”

But in reality most of town is getting the gun at some point anyways, and later is when the pool shortens and matters most, so you first have to consider how mafia thinks, because if I was solo mafia I’d give the gun to my biggest hater while they have the most other bodies to shoot instead of me and get them out of the game

Well the logic would be he would DEFINITELY shoot a lurker late so you would hope you put him early to not shoot the lurker early

But also correct lurkers don’t coordinate team strategy
