Pokémon TCG Pocket

While looking through all the art for the other thread, I saw the Wobbuffet art rare for the first time

I think this might be the only time so far a Pokemon has been depicted that isn't actually available yet: Wynaut

Guessing we get it, and the other gen 4 babies (& Azurill) next set anyway.
Nah, we've had it a few times. Medicham first appeared in Lucario's full art, and Silvally first appeared in Lillie's immersive. Even in this expansion, full art Pichu features plush versions of Tandemaus and Arboliva.

I'll trade Sinivy for either Yungoos or Vanillite.
I got you, 30 minutes until my trade stamina recovers, I'll have it ready real soon.

Ironically enough, I was opening Mythical Island packs to get Snivy and Servine without trading, and...

Edit: Gimmighoul showed up as a mon on your wishlist, so I traded you that instead. If you want Vanillite instead, no problem.

Megas confirmed coming this fall (I presume for the anniversary) which is such a buckwild thing to bring into the game already. Knocking one out instawins the game lol

Were you looking at the physical TCG's megas?

The Pocket's megas are 210 Gyarads, 210 Blaziken and a 190 Altaria
oh im so silly i mixed up some of the arts for tcg pocket instead of physical tcg. i think these values are fine and if anything weirdly underboosted for something that loses you the game once ko'd. i need to take a glance at the attacks because otherwise they seem a bit too costly to run?

Mega Blaziken is basically Solgaleo but with +30 HP, no recoil, at least 20 extra damage from burn, and presumably not-useless prevos. Plus in terms of risk, they're functionally no worse than a regular ex after one point, and totally risk free after two.

This is exactly what I was fearing they would do. They keep adding every single mechanic/archetype not even 1 year in the game. While I understand wanting to promote ZA, balancing the powwe levels of cards that cost you the entire game is gonna be hell. Not a fan at all.

It feels like if they wanted megas in year 1, to coincide with all the other mega stuff going on, they should have taken the opportunity to make it work differently somehow.

I'm not sure how, specifically, but they're professionals I'm sure they can figure out something. Maybe there'd be some kind of "mega" trait, or incorprate stuff from the times they experimented with Level X and Breaks.

Man will the eventual galar set just straight to bringing back VMaxes....

After 94 95 packs of Wisdom of the Sea and Sky, I think know I get to complain about my luck.

Immersive Art Cards: 0
Eeveelution EX Cards: 0
Shiny EX Pokemon: 7
Shiny Mismagius EX: 3

The third Mismagius was last night and was the cherry on top off a bad day. New sets are coming out too fast, but I'm not complaining about a reason to open any other pack...

Edit: 1 Pack after I post this, a SECOND Shiny Gyrados EX. Now the only Shiny Pokemon from this set I don't have a duplicate of is Nidorino, which is somehow the only non-EX Shiny I've opened this set, and I'm even saltier about the Lake of Rage Themed Collection only counting Shiny NON-EX Gyarados.

At 0:10 in the trailer, Darkrai EX and Giratina EX are shown. Glad they showed the real highlight of Shining Revelry instead of just Shiny Charizard EX when going through every set! :P

I don't know why Mega Altaria was the first Mega Evolution they showed off in the set because it's not like it's anyone's favorite Pokemon, right? Anyway, there's no way I'm complaining about my favorite Pokemon being the first Mega Evolution being shown off! :D
It's as strong as Arceus EX with a full bench, but weaker without a full bench. It also takes 1 less Energy to Attack or retreat, but it's a Stage 1 Mega Evolution that's restricted to Psychic Decks... I'm sure it would want to Sylveon EX eitherway, so the type isn't much of a downside. I'm hoping this is really good. (and that I get 2.)

Mega Gyarados EX takes 4 Energy and deals 140 Damage. It's just Gyarados EX with 30 more HP and a different effect. I'm bad at judging how good cards are, but I'm calling it now. This is the card people will complain about opening 4 of before opening 1 of the Mega Evolution they actually want. I pray to not be one of those people...

Counting the Burn's 20 Damage, Mega Blaziken EX deals 140 Damage for 2 Energy.
*looks at my Darktina deck*
Oh... Oh no. I might need to change decks for once.
*looks at Eevee decks*
My Plan B is also screwed...

I was actually relieved to see Mega Altaria and Mega Gyara being actually reasonably balanced cards...

And then Blaziken showed up. :regiF:

Here's how Mega Blaziken completely shits on the game as is.
  • 120 + Burn is guaranteed 140 damage for 2 Energy. That cooks most non-evolved EX mons. Including Darkrai.
  • Oricorio isn't safe because of the burn.
  • Rare Candy allows this to be at full power as early as Turn 3 (the first you can evolve).
  • Lillie heals 60 damage for Stage 2 mons, so it also happens to have the best healing supporter in the game.
  • Weakness is still only +20. It's really bulky and hard to chip away at, even with weaknesses.
  • You need something that can handle 140dmg while also being able to output 210 without dying first. Good luck.

Not that the potential for problems isnt there, but does Oricorio get burned in this scenario? I think with safeguard, effects like that only play out on the Pokemon if damage is dealt. I recall Solgaleo attacking into my Oricorio but not taking the 10 damage.

...I tried to test this out myself to make sure but it is really hard to get the AI opponents to do what you want.

It does. Makes the Incineroar matchup more difficult.

It does, it's how I handle Oricorio (I main Crobat/Darkrai/Nihilego)

Oricorio's ability only blocks direct damage, no other effects.

Well bummer about Oricorio, though I do wonder if there might be more stuff like Pokemon Center Lady and Comfey that'll block/remove statuses. Guess we'll see how it all shakes out.

New set leaking through the upload history going out early is very funny.
Beasts as the headliners make sense, it was notable they lacked EXes in this set. I wonder if any of them will try synergizing with Ho-oh since their base counterparts kinda didn't.
