Pokémon Presents - Pokémon Day 2025 - Pokemon ZA Info & Pokemon Champions Announced

Wh
I don't care? They still could have at least pretended it wasn't done immediately and waited until like November to announce it. iirc Fire Emblem Engage was sitting on a shelf for like two years and Nintendo waited a bit before announcing all its DLC stuff. Plus it's not like Pokémon is tethered to making announcements during Directs.
What is the point in pretending? I think its better to just admit out the gate that the DLC is coming and in development than arbitrarily pretending it doesn't exist especially when the Teraleak already revealed that DLC was coming to begin with.

I'll be honest i'm confident this was deliberately done because they know without a forced incentive after the initial curiosity noone is going to bother with online on ZA within a month or two. Being forced to at very least play is a way to keep it going for a bit.

I do hope it's just "play X matches" so i can afk in ranked battles and be done within a few minutes, if you actually need a certain score i'll be fine without ngl. I already had 0 interest in playing PvP in this game, and even less in an action game on Nintendo's infamously bad internet.
I don't doubt it was a concious decision at all, and it doesn't affect me personally because I was going to play PvP anyways, but doing this in the very same game where we get such a drastic change in the combat system is just not consumer-friendly. Mainly because ultimately it's time-based, and unlike say the SV raids, these are brand new forms, not shinies or normal Pokemon wirh a fancy title.

Then again this is still the very same gen where two specific species (Waking Wake and Iron Leaves) are completely locked out of specific time events and anyone that started playing late can't get them.

I get it, it's the usual marketing playing heavily with FOMO, but it's a scummy move. Mega stones are probably not transferable so we will never be able to do a Mega Greninja playthrough for example.

I thought the Gardevoir free stone was what they were doing about that, it's also extremely popular, but I guess it wasn't enough.

edit: nevermind this very same thread talks about stones not being transferable and both Raichus being Electric, my bad

Oh I agree with you there don't get me wrong.

On somewhat positive note, seems they DO plan to redistribute them at later date. So maybe you can still get them without needing to go through the pain of the PvP mode at a later point.

Messaging and presentation. It feels far more scummy to announce a $30 DLC now before the game is even out than to wait until after.

I'm already on the fence on whether I'm buying LZA between budget concerns and tepid feelings on the combat, and this isn't helping the game's case.

the pages for the kalos megas are up in english now, none of them change type.

could be nothing and just flavor text but it would be interesting if chesnaught gets a new move and mega chesnaught gets sharpness or some weapon related ability?

I definitely wouldn't call that an axe. It doesn't have a slashing edge, is fully symmetric, and it seems like it would work much better for thrusts than swings.

yeah, it seems like it's essentially a hammer. would be funny if it gets a grass-type version of hammer arm and then an ability that boosts hammer moves, lol.

So the English website has updated with news and they have apricorn balls (Fast/Lure/Level/Heavy). Yay?

HOME is definitely one-way in English too.

The Mega Raichus are both pure Electric (shown on the Japanese site too).

The stone names are Greninjite, Delphoxite, and Chesnaughtite and cannot normally be obtained during regular gameplay but may be planned to be redistributed in future seasons.
You also can't have more than one of a kind of mega stone, so probably can't trade those out to stock up on either.

Apriballs in Legends PLZA i'm barking like a fucking dog rn!!!!

Let me also give a few opinions;

- Are we sure that the would reveal new typings on the website? I understand they might have done it before but those descriptions for Raichu kinda scream Fighting / Flying for them, and at least would make them somewhat interesting. I think their designs are cute though, completely unexpected. I think they've revealed type changes this way before but this was back when it was common for them to give info more freely, a shame if not.

- It's nice to see that in the trailer we can also go under the streets, so that's at least more depth / exploration to the overall City

- The HOME thing is flat out ODD, transfers being a one-way system means they're essentially stuck in PLZA until, I assume, Champions comes out? What's the reasoning for this? I get if it was Gen 9 specific and that they could go back into SV, but cutting off access all together? I'm assuming there must be ways to access Regional forms in-game then? Which I actually think is a super neat feature that PLA didn't have

- Kalos Starters being tied to ranked is again, odd, I imagine they'll become available eventually but not being able to use them in a standard playthrough sucks, unless there are other ways they just haven't mentioned yet. I don't think it matters for anything outside of that, like no one is at a disadvantage in competitive because they'll probably be accessed in Champions but still.. an odd distribution method

- DLC genuinely gagged me house down boots, we should understand the timeline they were working with and why it's already announced. Industry Practice etc but the fact that this would've been the original announcement period for the DLC I imagine (Well, maybe a trailer for it with the announcement earlier in the year) but seeing people complain about this is already boring. I'm excited for Hyperspace Lumiose, because it wasn't in any leaks, neither were RaichuXY. I imagine they wanna get Gen 9 / PLZA wrapped up before 2026 with Gen X

- I know it's Gamefreak, and I know that PLZA probably hasn't seen any (or only a little) benefit from taking a break in 2024 from releasing because it would have been done for the most part, but holy shit, the Pokémon models look so ugly? They looked so nice in SV :(

I'm still extremely hyped, if not more hyped, for PLZA but holy shit I just want it out already, it feels like years.

The spin-off looks.. cute?

It Floats Using Electromagnetism and Concentrates Electricity into Its Fists

The repulsion from the electromagnetic force generated by its two tails allows it to float as it moves. Its ample subcutaneous fat can store up electric energy, letting it maintain a high electrical output and heightening its defensive capabilities! Using electromagnetism to propel itself swiftly through the air, it can take down opponents several times its size with a single blow of its electrically charged fists. It bears a distinctive resemblance to regular Raichu.

First time I've come across "subcutaneous" before, that's fun.

It Strikes Swiftly and Bathes Foes in Electric Power

Mega Raichu Y’s greatest strength is its ability to unleash its power instantaneously, so it excels in short, decisive battles. The amount of electricity it can generate in the electric sacs on its cheeks has been powered up. The energy generated in these cheek pouches is amplified as it courses in a zig-zag pattern between its tail and the spiky, horn-like fur on its head, letting it unleash powerful Electric-type moves. All this electric energy gives it a wild and combative temperament, causing it to eschew tactical maneuvers in favor of a straightforward approach to battling. It bears a distinctive resemblance to Pikachu.

I did think the Y form looked kinda pikachu-ish, nice to see it was intentional

Bit weird they're both pure electric. Feels like the X version should have been Electric/Fighting, or something.

Guys, the DLC isn't releasing on day one. The website only says "Coming soon". Realistically, it should be coming out before the end of Winter (and before the February Presents when they'll inevitably announce the Gen 10 games). You get a *bonus outfit* on release, that's it.

I'm a bit surprised at this pushback, honestly. While I understand being wary of predatory practices, this isn't a season pass or anything like that. It's a story expansion with new Pokémon, just like it was done in the past. There aren't even the first Nintendo games to announce DLC before launch, both BOTW and Smash Ultimate did that.

To me it just struck me as odd since the last two times they waited until after the game was out (or...three tiems, I guess, if you want to count Daybreak, but that's a bit different).

Otherwise it's whatever in the grand scheme. I guess, sitting here thinking on it more, they probably want it out before Pokemon Day so they can focus on Gen 10 and at that point we're just splitting hairs on if they reveal it September or November.

it was visible already in the trailer ofcourse but catacombs/sewer real hell yeah

I don’t see why they’d have an issue revealing new typings. Or otherwise they would just leave toying out entirely, or tease it with Electric/??? or something.

Weird decision to make two megas that are the same type though.

Seeing the new limitations on transferring from past games to Z-A, I really do wonder how badly GF regret ever making transferring a thing. Like, it’s a cool feature and I get why people love it, but from the developer end it seems like such a headache to maintain. The ins-and-outs of HOME are barely coherent at this point.

I wonder what kind of pancakes these raichus ate

French pancakes from a parallel universe, evidently
