Strong Animal Crossing Vibes. And kinda creepy
This is going to outsell every Mystery Dungeon and Stadium game btw
Honestly speaking *IF* it delivers on what they're trying to do (which seems to be Dragon Quest Builders except it's Pokemon), it'd be a insanely fun and cozy game if you enjoy base building and small scale city sims.
That's a somewhat big IF obviously but one can hope...
yeah a streamer I was watching react to the direct had his daughter on his lap for this and she was entirely enthralled. This game is going to sell like crazy, lol.
It's literally the game the normies and children who buy plushies have been asking for without even realizing it. Cutting out the middleman and focusing purely on having fun and chilling with your little guys. Think about all the people you see fantasizing about just living in a plant-filled household with Grass types or doing barista duty with Pokemon assistance.
There’s a part of me that wonders if this game is a reaction to all of those “why can’t Pokémon let me use my mons to water plants and build stuff” comments that Palworld brought about
I'll believe it when they give pokemon guns and let me butcher pokemons (and humans) like I can do in Palworld.

yeaaaaah while sure I can see the thought "i wish to do more with my pokemon than just battle", Pokopia doesn't remotely correlate to what Palworld offers to players in the slightest.
One is "DQ builders except it's pokemon"
The other is "warcrimes and ecological devastation featuring not-pokemon as slaves and food"

Unironically I am pretty certain that if the Pokemon characterization and dialogue is sufficiently high quality that ~70% of the Mystery Dungeon fanbase will effortlessly migrate to this game as a worthy spiritual successor. I've talked about this in more depth before but fundamentally the appeal of that spinoff series was in how it imagined Pokemon talking and running civilization. Just like with the aforementioned normies, Pokopia has (seemingly) laser-focused on the aspects those fans were really enthralled by
Fine by me. I never cared for the non-Orre battle simulator games (mostly due to the lack of a true story campaign like those had), and Mystery Dungeon fell off a cliff starting with Gates to Infinity and that’s coming from someone who never actually played through the first two games. (In my defense, I have them both on my Wii U but my GamePad’s broken so there’s only so much I can do about that. I do own the Rescue Team remake though, but haven’t played it a single time, lol.)
I apologize for the length of that paragraph, that was longer than I thought it would be. All I care about is getting more true spin-offs in any capacity, and rereleases of the best ones. I may opt to look into this game and see if anything catches my interest; it seems more interesting than most of the previous Switch spin-offs not named Rescue Team DX or New Pokémon Snap- even Creatures Inc’s most recent game was largely a flop, and they’ve got my favorite development team because of Ranger and PokéPark!
Any info on what the Pokedex, so to speak, will include? Like that'd be the main thing to get me to buy it or not, the amount of mons. I loved the dx mystery dungeon game...for a while, but got fed up with dexit so seldom to never play after mostly beating. It seems hard to find info online about this.
Basically, if somehow EVERY mon is in this game, I buy it. If it's up to 3, or maybe even 4, no. If it's hodgepodge like the last 2 gens, then I want to know what I'm dealing with. I highly doubt there's a world where it has all the mons, and still isn't appealing, conversely it can be "great" with much dexit, and I lose interest fast.

The only thing we know about the game is effectively what was in the trailer, which you can see Pokemon from many different generations.

Ah hm. I play animal crossing so much that I might get this anyways, but I wish it was a much, much bigger Pokedex. Which it may BE, in the end, but probably far from all. I mean I guess I can see how chi you and flutter mane won't fit in to the theme, but still. At least every gen is represented for sure, that makes me more optimistic.
