Arena Trap was banned because the ability itself is unhealthy, even on weaker users like Trapinch or Diglett. On their own they may not be dominant forces, but they can still enable unhealthy dynamics -> para-spam is already a big thing in DPP and Trapinch could make really good use of it, restricting counterplays to setup mons like CM Clefable, which was already extremely oppressive alongside Dugtrio. Similarly, Diglett has seen use in BW OU after Dugtrio’s ban, and it would likely show up in DPP as well. In short, every mon with Arena Trap ends up being a nuisance, so the ability as a whole was banned. So arena trap was banned because arena trap Diglett can still be broken without Dugtrio, and dynamic punch wasn't banned because dynamic punch Machoke isn't broken?
Also it's pretty hard to have Machoke take his dad's mantle, Machoke has a hard time providing your team any defensive merit & can't stop a DD Tar well given its poor stats. Base 100 can't pressure Skarm nor Zap & you need to outspeed an uninvested Clef to prevent it from being Knocked off.Arena Trap was banned because the ability itself is unhealthy, even on weaker users like Trapinch or Diglett. Dynamic Punch is different. Many Pokémon can learn it, but only Machamp makes truly problematic use of it. That’s why Machamp is the one banned, not the move itself.
===DPP===Will there be a DPP circuit tournament this year? How can I sign-up for one?
Mach Punch, Bullet Punch, Iron Head, SR, Spikes, off the top of my headOnly really played DPP recreationally
Why is Weavile so bad in DPP, considering it's S rank in the remakes? (and the reverse with Rachi and TTar, they kinda suck in bdsp)
1. steel resists dark, meaning CB variants are entirely unviable and youre forced into low kick, which doesn't even hit over half the steels in ou for SE (meta, jira, bronzong, skarm, forre, scizor). the difference between hitting skarm for 20 and hitting it for 40 is massive, one makes it so that skarm is a dodgy switch in if rocks are up if its taken *any* chip, the other makes it so its a free in to heal up for the actual threatsOnly really played DPP recreationally

Sorry for the late reply but according to your response there will be no circuit tournament this year similar to this one from last year?===DPP===
DPP Winter Seasonal - January 20th
DPP Premier League - March 31st
DPP Global Championship - April 21st
DPP Cup - June 23rd
DPP Summer Seasonal - July 28th
DPP World Cup - September 1st
DPP Slam - October 13th
I'm not sure if the dates are accurate, but here's the calendar with all the DPP tournaments.
If the schedule is followed, I believe the Grand Slam is the last tournament of the year. In any case, the Grand Slam DPP LC is currently active, in case you're interested. I assume the OU will be open later on. You can also play tournaments on the PS <RoA> channel.Sorry for the late reply but according to your response there will be no circuit tournament this year similar to this one from last year?
