My friend got back to me.

Supposedly 無に帰す光, which sounds something like the death laser AZ made at the end of XY

(He wanted to be blanked out.)

Not much to elaborate on since it's basically what we expected, but still worth sharing.
ok so this leads me to think even more than before that this is mega eternal floette related which would be insanely ironic

I could have sworn Krookodile was a part of this list too, maybe a separate leaker claimed that at some point?

Now that it's 'officially' confirmed that the starters are getting Megas, I wonder if we'll see Mega Typhlosion/Samurott/Serperior in the DLC? I assume not - it's not like we got Hisuian variants of the remaining Johto, Unovan, or Alolan starters - but that game didn't have DLC to add more variants in to begin with.
IIRC krookodile, galvantula and turtonator were thrown around as DLC megas but I don’t think this was ever from a reliable source.

I don’t think gamefreak care as much about “even” starter trios as the fans do tbh so I doubt we’ll see the others get megas. For all intents and purposes the ZA starters are their own trio now, I don’t think they really view Serperior and co as left out or anything.

No, they typically do care, its just sometimes one of the three gets a thing earlier than the others. Blaziken was an xy bonus and then the others got theres in ORAS, zard got a gigantimax before the dlc gave us blastoise and venusaur, etc. I doubt we'll see anything from hisui anytime soon, so no regional forms for those starters, but megas is a seperate matter.

Eh I suppose, but like I said the ZA starters are their own trio now. It’s not really the same as Blaziken randomly getting its mega in XY.

They also left Froslass without a mega for ten years and still haven’t given Slowking one.

And I really hope that Mega Pyroar does still have differences between male and female in the mega. I think it really is part of the charm.

Aaaand on heavy copium that finally Meganium stops being a meme when it comes to competitive (or even in game ngl)
Pyroar has one of the most limited movepools I've ever seen, I hope they expand what moves its allowed to learn as Meganium also has the same problem

hopefully meganium gets a good ability in its mega like Flower Veil (Triage would be the most busted one and be romhack level lol)

I mean, both your examples have alternate justifications. Hoenn starter trio got completed in ORAS because it was a Hoenn remake. And then the G-Max Kanto trio was only completed after a huge outcry as to "if Dexit is gonna be a thing, don't make it so blatant that Charizard is your favorite" after the base game released (whether or not Game Freak heard that outcry, I dunno, but the fact that G-Max Cannonade and G-Max Vine Lash basically do the same thing as Charizard's G-Max move, shows that maybe they didn't originally plan those forms.)

Also, both those examples are from before PLA's release, when starter trios were more concrete.

Part of me wonders if there will be more Alola/Galar/maybe even Paldea mons being giving Megas in the DLC.

I do think the two that were given Megas from post Gen 6 are interesting choices, they didn't go for the obvious popular picks like Dragapult or Mimikyu which I appreciate. Zeraora notwithstanding but still it reminds me the only Unova mega prior to this game was Audino of all things. (DLC ofc could give at least a few popular mons from Gens 7-9 a Mega but that'd be a bit too impulsive a guess for my standards)
Though I do note that Falinks was one of the few Galar introduced mons to not get a G-Max (well its more so distributed half and half that gen but still), so perhaps if there's any future Galar Megas in the DLC it'll probably be from that pool. Which does include Dragapult as a potential candidate still, though also things like Frosmoth, Barraskewda, and a few bottom tier stragglers that I personally would love to see get buffed in some regard (Grapploct or Boltund for example) but again I'm unsure if they plan many beyond an amount you count on one hand.

A thing limiting Galar's pool actually is that a lot of them are already reliant on their own gimmick abilities. Think Cramorant, Morpeko, Eiscue.

Neither of those latter examples are starters. Starter pokemon are a BIG deal, even moreso than legendries. The Hisui regional variants are the first time starters didnt have equal share of a gimmick across the trio (unless you count zard getting 2 megas, which i don't). Other mon evolution lines not getting fair treatment is pretty common.

If you think those designs were made up from scratch with their moves and code less than a year in reponse to fans reception...idk how else to say this but thats not how things work. These decisions are made years in advance and approved and then shipped to us. gen 11 concepts are probably being worked on right now as gen 10 is being finalized. So no, the kanto gigantimaxes were not a fan outcry response, and neither were there moves, especially since every variant was a meta powerhouse in VGC.

Is it even confirmed if we'll get Typhlosion/Samurott/Serperior at all? I'm thinking we might not get all previous starters, let alone megas for them.

Eh, I don't think we can reliably extrapolate from these examples. The Hisuian starters already show that GF doesn't feel compelled to give all starters from a gen equal treatment, which is the most recent instance of splitting up starter trios. So even if that was their philosophy for megas back in 2016, it may not hold now.

If for some reason we get to pick from a new starter set in the DLC, then I think we would have a higher likelihood of getting more megas. And if we did, I don't see any reason why it would be serp, typhlosion, and samurott as opposed to serperior, incin, primarina. Otherwise, GF could just as well take a longer term view and balance out trios over the course of the next few Legends games.

Looks like not a whole lot more info. Hopefully they can find more things, but seems like this might be it until they can get a hold of a full copy to datamine.

About Pyroar. Who thinks it will get two different looking megas per gender?

I was a little skeptical on the idea of Zygarde getting a new form in this game, being that it already has three, so I'm curious as to how this seeming Mega Zygarde will work.

"You're gonna love this, trust me. What you're seeing now is Zygarde's 10% form." uses Zygarde Cube "This is 50% Zygarde. And this..." Power Construct activates "This is Zygarde with 100% of its cells. Or, you could just call this Zygarde's Complete Form."

"Ho-hum, what a useless transformation. It has arms and legs now, so what?"

"Just wait." Mega Ring activates "And this... is to go EVEN FURTHER BEYOND...!"

You forgot the part where Zygarde completes yells THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FINAL FORM
