SPOILERS! Legends ZA Data Dumps - Adding Info to OP

omg Skarmory is my favorite Pokemon for like 25 years+ and I cannot believe they not only gave it a Mega but gave it an amazing stat spread. Can't wait to play with... NOT in Legends ZA won't buy the game it sucked during trying it in Gamescom.
I'm curious, what am I missing? Skarm's my favourite mon as well, and I'm having a hard time seeing the stat spread as much other than doing away with the defensive, hazard-oriented playstyle that's what I like about the mon.

True, but for Meganium specifically, it is a starter with a new Mega. Dazzling Gleam and Earth Power were probably added mostly because it needed STAB and because its special movepool is otherwise barren without it. Its Sp.A increase is sizable and would have gone to waste if all it could use with it were Normal, Grass, and Fairy moves.

These are two moves I'm confident Meganium will be keeping in Champions.
Earth Power has also been given to Grass-types before (Venusaur has is!) so it's not even a stretch for Meganium to keep the move going forward.

It doesn't have to Mega outright. Skarm can drop Spikes as it does but Mega if needed. It loses 16% phys def but gains 34% sp def (with a 252 hp / 252 def spread) as well as enough speed and attack to put pressure on the opponent instead of being totally passive. The attack stat with no investment jumps 61% after a Mega. There's also non traditional roles like Swords Dance Weak Armor or Specially Defensive wall that it might be able to handle. It outruns and OHKOs Magnezone with Drill Run while the non-Mega gets clapped. It also still has Sturdy so you can take the hit, Mega for the speed boost and Roost in your opponent's face.

It really depends on the meta and tier it ends up in but there's definitely room for Mega Skarmory to be good.

Unlike Mega Victreebel, who is Mega ass. :(

I’m very intrigued by the re-introduction of Heal Block in this game. It’s a move that was part of the original move culling back in SS, and now not only does it return in this game, but SV had even brought back its effect through Psychic Noise. Not just that, but the original message when using Psychic Noice even name-dropped Heal Block, as seen in the SV trailer that introduced it.

It seems that Heal Block and its effect are something that GameFreak very consciously decided to revive, likely due to their distaste of stalling tactics that influenced their decision to reduce the base PP of almost all recovery moves to 5. I wouldn’t be surprised if Heal Block stays in Champions and is now kept in Gen 10 and beyond.

Its a fast spiker with good bulk so you could maybe do something with a set like Taunt Brave Bird Spikes Roost, with a lot of hazard removers not wanting to switch in due to strong brave Bird and it outspeeding and taunting other defensive Pokemon. Im not sure it will be successful, but it having high speed and special defense is at least a nice boon. It helps its getting knocked off 90% of the time anyways so there isnt really much mega opportunity cost in running the mega stone.

I may have been a bit too harsh on Mega Clefable. Im not sure if Flying Fairy is the best typing, but that bulk increase will let it stave off a lot of threats like Great Tusk and Zamazenta much better, as well as Gliscor / Rillaboom, and I'm sure that extra special attack and speed will let it hit some key benchmarks. Really, I think its usefulness will be determined on whether it ends up keeping Magic Gaurd, but even if it doesn't, I still see the mega stone being great on Calm Mind sets similar to Regular Slowbro in order to get a bit of extra bulk and power for certain match-ups.

Didn't see the picture anywhere, so imma put here the icons with all the in game mons' icons!

Speaking of Skarm, do we have a model for Mega Skarmory yet? I've seen the icon for it on the icon sheet but not screenshots or models

For comparison, the Pokedex in Pokémon Legends: Arceus contained 242 species.

Interestingly, Hoenn Starters, Lati Duo, the Primals, and Mega Rayquaza are not present in this Pokedex. Scyther's evolution - Kleavor is absent as well.

I'm honestly more curious of what the abilities will be in Champions.

A lot of those megas are on the line of "this will be good if it gets X ability, low tier trash otherwise".
Es, Meganium is dead in the water if it keeps Leaf Guard, but has insane potential if it gets a real defensive ability like Magic Guard, Regenerator, or Clorophyl, or anything actually useful.
Starmie is going to be awful unless it gets Huge Power or equivalent.
etc

With how they are now... Honestly I don't even bother making any prediction. I'll just enjoy them in ZA since in that game stats are unlikely to really matter much and heck if i ever touch PvP in it.

Seems like they gave Toxic back to Mewtwo. Hisuian Sliggoo & Goodra (as well as Goomy, who presumably didn't get it so that the Hisuians couldn't get it) also get it now.
Simisage, Watchog, Stunfisk well they weren't in SV so its probably more accurate to say "they get to keep learning it".

Don't get too Hyped about this.

Hidden Power for example was reintroduced in LA, see how that went

Mega Sableye getting Parting Shot could be the buff it needs to be OU in Gen 10 given it was not used that much in Gen 7. Offensive powercreep was huge in Gen 7 in conjunction with Mega Sableye's nerfs in burn damage being halved and Mega Evolution happening at the start of the turn, but having Parting Shot could help Mega Sableye reduce its passivity issues.
A pivoting tool is nice, but MSableye suffers more from its typing being underwhelming defensively with only one resist and two relevant immunities. It's still really passive with minimal damage output. It might see use outside stall on some really specific fat balances but that is it.

Mega Meganium has a good typing and stats, so even with an average ability it would be solid thanks to what it can answer. For example, not that you'd use it in OU, but it handling both of Raging Bolt's stabs is huge, and it also checks a myriad of grounds, fighters and dark types. So it would on paper look like a solid defensive mega

Mega Starmie is all but confirmed to have pure power tbh. It follows Mega Medicham and Mawile in the "suddenly +40" to a stat design.
