A pair of megas I'm repurposing from M4A. Zangoose's lenses become rose-tinted in the sense that it's seeing red and will Close Combat the shit out of Poison-types, while Seviper denies it the satisfaction by becoming immune and also dying I guess.

In terms of gameplay, Mega Zangoose loses a bit of power compared to its base form in exchange for greatly improved longevity. It's still frail, but at least now it resists Stealth Rock and isn't killing itself with Toxic Orb. It's also got an extra moveslot to play with, since instead of running Facade for neutral STAB and Close Combat for anti-Steel coverage, it can just run Close Combat and cover both. Meanwhile, Seviper can take on the role of a physical attacker with Swords Dance and Frustration, or it can go special with Wring Out (my beloved). Remember, we're in gen 6, so this style of ability still gives a 30% damage boost.
:sv/cryogonal:
Name: Cryogonal

Ability: Technician
Type: Ice
/ Steel

Stats:
HP: 70
Attack: 55
Defense: 55
Special Attack: 125
Special Defense: 145
Speed: 135
BST: 585

Height: 1.1 m
Weight: 184.0 kg
Gender Ratio: -

Description:
Competitive
- As the fastest Ice Pkm in the tier, Mega Cryogonal can provide powerful speed control in Icy Wind. If you need more fire power, there's always Frost Breath. These two moves are boosted by Technician, and so are moves like Hidden Power, Water Pulse or Ancient Power. Which can be very useful in Singles to get past would-be checks, such as Ferrothorn or Volcanion.
- While Mega Cryogonal already naturally learns Flash Cannon, I imagine the secondary typing is used more defensively. First, to mitigate the Stealth Rock weakness. Secondly, in VGC, Mega Cryogonal can better resist attacks from Mega Gardevoir, Mega Kangashkan (so long as you avoid Power-Up Punch), and Mega Salamence, among others.
- Bulk is sufficient enough to comfortably tank Sucker Punch from Mega Kangashkan. Funnily enough, if Rain is up, Mega Cryogonal can even survive Heat Wave from Mega Charizard Y in VGC.
- With barely any viable Ice Pkm in Kalos VGC, Mega Cryogonal stands out with its mix of utility (like speed control), offense, and useful resistance profile. Singles appreciate a new viable Rapid Spin user that is immune to Poison and exerts good offensive pressure.
Combee was too powerful so here's Regigigas instead

:ss/regigigas:
Mega Regigigas
Type:
Normal
Ability: Now or Never (if the user's trainer has more than one Pokemon remaining, Attack and Speed are halved)
Stats:
HP: 110
Att: 210 (+50)
Def: 120 (+10)
SpA: 80
SpD: 120 (+10)
Spe: 130 (+30)
Height: 15'07"
Weight: 840.0 kg

Ever the ADHD icon, Regigigas spurs into action when a deadline approaches.
:sv/lapras:
Name: Lapras-Mega
Type: Water/Ice
Abilities: Refrigerate
New stats:
HP: 130
Attack: 85 -> 120 (+35)
Defense: 80 -> 95 (+15)
Special Attack: 85 -> 105 (+20)
Special Defense: 95 -> 105 (+10)
Speed: 60 -> 80 (+20)
(535 BST => 635 BST)
New moves: None
Description:
Resub from M4A, I think it's a pretty cool mon here.
Back in DPP UU, Lapras had the good ol' niche of being a bulky Water. But! it had another surprising niche for only one generation: being a Dragon Dancer. It has good Atk, respectable Speed and nice bulk going for it, as well as Water + Ice being dangerous and near perfect coverage (you know, Iron Bundle...) And its only physical Ice move was Avalanche, so kinda bad for DD sets, so it just used Waterfall + Return. Now, it finally has a good physical Ice STAB, but it's Return, so it's basically a nice callack to this surprising niche.
Fun fact! It also has Vocal Strain! So you can even run a special set running Vocal Strain, Surf and Freeze-Dry! Overall a very, very good mon.
And it also has more bulk, and Cleansing Wave! You can also run it as a defensive Pokemon!
:sv/wigglytuff:
Name: Mega Wigglytuff (Wigglytuffite)
Type: Electric / Fairy
Abilities: Fur Coat
New Stats:
HP: 140
Attack: 60 -> 60 (+0)
Defense: 45 -> 55 (+10)
Special Attack: 85 -> 175 (+90)
Special Defense: 50 -> 70 (+20)
Speed: 45 -> 25 (-20)
(435 BST => 535 BST)
New Moves: Moonblast
Description: With the power of Mega Evolution, Wigglytuff’s soft fur extends so much that no only it softens physical blows, but it helps it conduct electricity by inflating and rubbing it’s cheeks. Once inflating like a hot air balloon, it can unleash a powerful jolt of electricity from all around it’s body.
Competitive Uses: Even with the newly gained Fairy-type, Wigglytuff’s low BST by Stone Evolution standards and awkward stat distribution left it in the dust competitively. Mega Wigglytuff allows it to finally make the most of it’s Special learnset and status moves, but also provide a powerful Electric-type wallbreaker with it’s 175 Special Attack, and Fur Coat finally allows it to make use of it’s high base HP. It’s bottom Speed means it’ll almost always move last in Singles, but can make for a terrifying Trick Room attacker in VGC.
You can discuss our five winners while we think about our tournament before continuing.

My thoughts on the winners:

:zangoose: A nuke that just kills shit. After a Swords Dance I don't see a lot of stuff be willing to switch into it, we do have a lot of Fairies in the tier which makes Tinted Lens especially cool, also makes it not prediction reliant into Slowbro. Not like we have a lot of defensive Ghosts anyway so all of them die to a Knock Off, bar maybe the new Seviper-Mega (frail bulk I wouldn't count on it).

:seviper: Speaking of the Devil, I think Seviper is mostly gonna be physical (why would you run it over Gengar), and Coil will be super good for that. Gen 6 -ate also makes its Return 132.6 BP, giving it a great, great niche. Wring Out is a niche option but I wouldn't count on it tbh, I'd rather run Coil + Return.

:cryogonal: Sub thought for VGC, but I honestly think it's gonna be a really good one in Singles. 135 Speed is a lot, especially with that special bulk, and Frost Breath is really cool. I don't think it's gonna be OU but I can be wrong, very good sub as well.

:regigigas: Really funny sub, and makes Regigigas better, but I don't see it being OU. It's gonna be niche at best, as it has no real utility outside of hitting hard and being kind of a Kingambit but even more extreme. Maybe I'm too harsh on it because 110/120/120 bulk allows it to take a hit or two but you shouldn't be getting Regigigas out before it's your last mon anyway. Still gonna have a niche in HO I think, because with its wide movepool you can easily get really cooked if all your faster mons died.

:lapras: My sub. Originally subbed in M4A, it got A LOT of tools here. I originally subbed it as a Dragon Dancer with a strong Ice STAB, and as DrPumpkinz mentionned, Gen 6 -ate is x1.3. But it's originally a defensive Pokémon in most metagames, and Cleansing Wave and Vocal Strain allow it to be kind of a Altaria-Mega sidegrade? Either DD or defensive? You need solid hazard removal but it can be a cool wall.

:wigglytuff: What if Ampharos-Mega had 2 good stats instead of one, and was a Fairy. I think it's gonna be a cool mon, able to either go all out with a great coverage (BoltBeam) or be a cool Wish mon.

While the other council members test out the metagame (I was too busy with other things), Lysion have a more concrete say about the metagame so far;
  • Sun is easily the best weather in the metagame at the moment. Part of the reason is due to Glimmaltis feeling like a splashable S-tier mon that, unlike Cherrim, greatly benefits from Flower Gift making it a deadly physical attacker under the Sun.
  • Glimmaltis itself, as stated, looks like a splashable S-tier mon with viability in sun and having pre-Gen 8 Grassy Terrain in the form of Seed Sower, which grants 50% more power to it’s Grass-type moves that stacks with STAB. It makes it’s Giga Drain much deadlier and allows it to recover even more when used outside of sun teams.
  • We ended up having a bit too many bulky Waters that could struggle against Glimmaltis as a result. I believe that either Hugfish, Mega Floatzel or both may have to be reevaluated more than Alomomola, as it’s clear thay the former two are not built with Glimmaltis in mind in hindsight.
  • The metagame can be fun to build and play with, as the metagame is not so drastically different from vanilla XY and no new threats managed to be overbearing to the point immediate actions are needed.
We also added a basic Viability Ranking (High, Middle, Low) at the third post, two posts after the OP, giving you an idea what’s viable and what’s more niche.

If you want to try it yourself, please join our Discord via the OP and request one in the matchmaking channel.

Well, we had some playtesting, and we've seen the metagame lacks diversity. It lacks really good mons that can compress roles and ease teambuilding. This is why we plan on doing a slate to add some vanilla Pokémon, including some really good top tiers. But for now...

Slate 8: Tame the Uber

In this slate you can nerf any Uber who is part of Kalos Dex. It includes:

:aegislash: Aegislash
:blaziken: :blaziken-mega: Blaziken & Mega (You can choose to either sub a nerf for Blaziken only, or for both base form and mega)
:gengar-mega: Gengar-Mega (Do note that Gengar is a really good Pokémon already)
:greninja: Greninja
:hoopa-unbound: Hoopa-Unbound
:kangaskhan-mega: Kangaskhan-Mega
:lucario-mega: Lucario-Mega
:mawile-mega: Mawile-Mega
:mewtwo: :mewtwo-mega-x: :mewtwo-mega-y: Mewtwo, Mega-X & Mega-Y (I advice against it, but would you decide to do it, you can sub either a nerf for base form, base and mega X or Y, or the 3 forms)
:sableye-mega: Sableye-Mega
:salamence-mega: Salamence-Mega
:xerneas: Xerneas (I advice against it)
:yveltal: Yveltal (same)

You can sub up to 3 nerfs.

Ah, it's that kind of slate where your creativity's on chains...I'm not really fond of these kinds of slates where you have to give an existing Pokémon minimal changes...
...but...
Wait.
A slate where you're forced to add nothing new?

(By changing Protean to it's nerfed version, which was the reason why it got banned to Ubers in the first place! That is my submission for this slate)

:blaziken: :blaziken-mega:
This one needs to remove Speed Boost for both, so :blaziken: gets Reckless and :blaziken-mega: gets ... Reckless too.
If an ability such as a Poison Touch for burn existed I would give it to the mega ... so let's go just using Reckless.
(Mega-Hoenn Fried Chicken would hit like a truck on another truck but at least it would not just ... gotta too fast)

:kangaskhan-mega:
Modification for Parental Bond : only the first hit can activate its additional effects (so no bullshit with Power-Up Punch or Body Slam) and looses Seismic Toss.

:aegislash:
Not very sure if that's enough for this one ... But the new version of King's Shield (so with -1 Atk instead of -2 on contact). That should help to deal with this thing with physical mons.

:xy/lucario-mega:
Change Adaptability to Forewarn (my other beloved). It's actually got some neat scouting applications that just never see play because the few Pokemon that even get Forewarn usually have better abilities available. It'll let you know for sure whether or not a Psychic-type is running Focus Blast, for example.

:xy/sableye-mega:
Change nothing, just unban it. If I recall, its ban back in ORAS was rather controversial.

You guys already covered a lot of them without overlap, that's cool! That being said:

:sv/mawile-mega:

Give it like, -15 Atk, +15 SpA, suddenly it hits like a truck but slightly less. Should be enough to unban it.

:sv/sableye-mega:

-10 Def and SpD, +10 Atk and SpA, should make it easier to deal with. I think it's a really good addition to the metagame, as it will help handling the broken Fighting Pokémon (Ledellar, Gallade-Mega, Zangoose-Mega, Heracross-Mega).

:sv/blaziken: :sv/blaziken-mega:

OK, hear me out.

New moves: Roost, Defog, U-turn, loses Swords Dance

Blaziken loses Speed Boost for Reckless so now it fills the niche of a good physical Fire type, able to be a good nuke with either Bulk Up or Band.

Blaziken-Mega loses Speed Boost for Regenerator, as well as 5 SpA, 35 Atk, and it gets +10 Speed, +15 Def and SpD, for a statline of 80/125/95/125/95/110. Yes, it's another Fighting mega, but this one is more of a bulk fast pivot, similar to Tornadus-Therian. It gets Defog and U-turn that it gets in Gen 7/8 so it can pivot and be a cool hazard removal, able to win against multiple hazard setters (Glimmora, Ferrothorn namely), as well as being able to switch into a lot of offensive stuff such as Weavile.

:xy/blaziken:
Base Blaziken: Rattled. It's the closest thing to a speed boost without necessarily making this Pkm broken. Fire/Fighting resists Dark and Bug, greatly punishing Knock Off and U-turn. And when have you ever seen Rattled in competitive? I think Mega Blaziken is too strong, so, I'll leave it untouched. The metagame already has tons of Fighting Pkm, including the different Mega forms.

:xy/kangaskhan-mega:
Mega Kangaskhan: Updated Parental Bond nerf which makes the second hit do 1/4 of the original damage. Fwiw, Mega Kangashkan still hits hard with this nerf since it effectively has a base 165 Atk. Remove Seismic Toss which is the main thing that makes it broken in Singles.

:sv/aegislash::sv/aegislash-blade:
Aegislash is borderline fine as is, so it can just be slightly weakened.
:aegislash: +10 Att, -10 Def, +10 SpA, -10 SpD
:aegislash-blade: -10 Att, +10 Def, -10 SpA, +10 SpD

:sv/blaziken:
I agree with BlueRay that we have enough Fighting-types that Blaziken-Mega doesn't need to drop. Also, Speed Boost is too good, so it's dead. Blaziken also does well into Glimmaltis so here's an ability to help.
:blaziken: -Speed Boost, +Showdown
(Showdown: While this Pokemon is active, Terrain and Weather are disabled.)

:sv/gengar-mega:
As it turns out, Shadow Tag is broken. Shocker. Here's Hisuian Zoroark before Hisuian Zoroark was a thing.
:gengar-mega: -Shadow Tag, +Illusion; +20 Att, -20 SpA

:sv/greninja:
Someone already subbed the logical next step to unban Greninja so here's a different route that removes some big tools.
:greninja: -Toxic Spikes, U-Turn

:sv/hoopa-unbound:
Not my boy, Unbound, being banned.
:hoopa-unbound: -10 SpA, -10 Spe

:sv/kangaskhan-mega:
I think BlueRay's sub is better, but here's a version that fixes the big broken thing and nothing else.
:kangaskhan-mega: -Seismic Toss

:sv/yveltal:
Guys, here me out. (Shoutouts to XtGm for the idea that I'm kind of stealing)
:yveltal: +Defeatist; -Focus Blast, Heat Wave, Hurricane, Knock Off, Roost, Sucker Punch (If able, ban Dark Aura (or Yveltal + Dark Aura) in OU. Otherwise just do -Dark Aura if you don't want to ban the ability or have a complex ability, but that's lame for flavor.)

:xy/salamence-mega:

Replace Aerilate by Sturdy; Speed reduced by -20 and Special Attack increased by +20

Sturdy reflect it’s ankle-armors based on Shelgon, and is unflinchingly persistent in it’s flight so an attack may not stop it outright. Stealth Rock existing mean it won’t make use of this Ability often, but having higher Special Attack to compensate allows Mega Salamence to be more flexible in it’s learnset.

Don't let ZA megas distract you from DLCmons! Although we do have plan about ZA megas in DLCmons but it's gonna come later.

Review time! (Note: it's my personal opinion, and nothing is getting vetoed)

:greninja: Simple yet effective, I'm curious to see how nerfed Greninja without Battle Bond would fare (because every metagame with Gen 9 Protean ends up having Greninja simply running Battle Bond for that sweet, sweet Moxie-but-way-better). If it does win tho, I might instead give it a custom ability that has Gen 9 Protean effect, just so we don't make Kecleon worse (poor Kecleon, the 4 Kecleon fans are shaking) and we still let Protean as an option for later subs.

:blaziken: :blaziken-mega: If I'm being honest, I agree with the general feeling of Blaziken-Mega being kind of unnecessary right now... It's yet another super strong Fighting breaker, and we have a lot of those already (Ledellar, Gallade-Mega, Zangoose-Mega, Medicham-Mega, and that's just from the top of my mind). Balanced but not my favorite, althought it finally does bring the physical Fire type I tried to sub back to Safari slate.

:kangaskhan-mega: Simple yet effective, Kangaskhan-Mega is a good idea for a nerf because we don't really have strong Normal Pokémon in the metagame (Regigigas-Mega is exclusively a late game sweeper, Diggersby is in concurrence for the Ground type slot, and Lopunny-Mega isn't in XY).

:aegislash: Should be enough to make it balanced, but it's kinda hard to tell. Afaik Aegislash never was broken, but was banned because keeping it in check restricted teambuilding a lot. I guess stuff that can check it has an easier time now? Should be balanced but Aegislash is tricky.

:lucario-mega: I'm a Lucario fan so I'm biased, but if I'm being honest, isn't that yet another strong Fighting breaker? At least it can be special as well, and at least it gives us a strong Meltdown user other than base form Lucario and Magnezone, and Forewarn is cool. I'm unsure.

:sableye-mega: This ban was indeed controversial, and while I was skeptic at first seeing a pure unban, I think I can agree. What makes me hesitate is that its biggest counterplay, Clefable, isn't in Kalos Dex, so it has one less hazard setter to fear, and one less Fairy to fear. And while we have strong Fairies (Gardevoir-Mega, Diancie-Mega, Wigglytuff-Mega, Vanilluxe-Kalos, Azumarill, Delcatty-Kalos to name a few), none of them are as splashable as Clefable. Guess we'll see if it wins.

These subs are perfect and the guy who subbed them is extremely beautiful. (Feel free to add a review for my own stuff)

:blaziken: I like the idea of Rattled, especially on something that resists Knock Off and U-turn. Simple yet effective, although I'm unsure it'll reach top tiers, it's a good addition to the tier, a Fire Pokémon able to switch into Glimmaltis.

:kangaskhan-mega: See my previous comment on Kangaskhan, it's another effective way to nerf it, might be my favorite one but all the subs related to Kang are balanced and a cool addition.

:aegislash: See my comment on Naronex' sub, I think the same kinda happens here (and no Toxapex to wall it makes it a bit awkward as well), but wait and see I guess, no better way to do so.

:blaziken: Cool sub, with a super Cloud Nine, giving the middle finger to Glimmaltis as well as any potential Electric Surge/Misty Surge I can sub later (no Psychic Surge because Psychic Terrain doesn't exist in Gen 6). Weather counter is niche but is cool vs Tyranitar or Char-Y, fun addition.

:gengar-mega: 150 SpA and 130 Speed scare me but no Nasty Plot and Gengar Life Orb hits harder if my math is correct? Illusion def makes it extremely dangerous.

:greninja: Simple yet effective albeit I prefer the other sub.

:hoopa-unbound: Not sure if it's balanced, and I'm not really interested in this one, sorry.

:kangaskhan-mega: I know people want Kangaskhan-Mega in OU but I can't prove it...

:yveltal: OK I'll hear you out. For clarification sake: if it wins, we're complex banning Dark Aura + Yveltal. Losing Roost hurts, it loses basically any physical set it could use, as well as a lot of its special coverage. No Roost and Defeatist means with its Rock weakness, you're gonna need a solid hazard removal on your team, but if you can assure that I think it can go bonkers. 131 SpA on a Specs set with something like Dark Pulse/Oblivion Wing/HP Fire/U-turn is scary, and while it can be stopped you'll need to prepare for it. 126/95/98 is a really great bulk when you keep in mind it has a great Dark/Flying typing, and it has some cool tools like Taunt or Disable. Overall a weird sub but one I kinda like, and I can get behind it.

I messed up and accidentally pressed Enter before finishing so let's pretend I ping Samtendo

:salamence-mega: In practice it has no ability most of the time. From experience, this 700 BST behemoth is scary even without a good ability, because of its bulk with pre-mega Intimidate and generally good 95/130/90 bulk. That being said, it doesn't have Dual Wingbeat or any Flying STAB other than Fly, Aerial Ace or Air Cutter, and 100 Speed is fast but not that fast pre-DD. Should be balanced.
