personal.txt seems to indicate that some Pokémon have an Alpha move that I guess can be obtained on them as an alpha but would otherwise require a high level or TMs. Bulbasaurs is Sludge Bomb which is otherwise a TM

Mattyoukhana started his data mine and came to the same conclusions regarding returning pokemon/new megas for the DLC

So I guess we really aren't getting Mega Hoopa, huh? Weird...

Seeing the full returning Pokemon roster like this only makes me more curious what Hyperspace Lumiose is going to look like. The Legendary and Mythical deluge is doubtlessly gonna all be portaled in but I'm also really vibing with how many Paldea Pokemon they're adding after the base game had a fat nothing

I wonder what made people so sure it's Golisopod and not Palossand. I mean I can believe it, but jsut going but scrubbed stuff it seems to me like it could be either.

I also think it's interesting people think Original Color Magearna gets accounted for because if I was reading the form listing right, the Original Color entry wasnt scrubbed at all.

Official confirmation I guess!

You know, you coulda’ just put Kleavor in the base game, GF…

Edit: As a thought, I wonder if Absol, Garchomp, and Lucario getting new Megas will be lore-ified by tying these forms to this hyperspace dimension. As in, it’s not quite the same as an X/Y Mega pair like with Charizard or Raichu, but with perhaps a more drastic contrast compared to their regular Mega forms. Hell, maybe all of the DLC Megas could be extradimensional weirdos.

I do have to say, giving 2nd megas to mons that already had them isn't something I'm much a fan of, but at the same time a lot of the other choices seemingly are ones that are quite ballsy. Giving super forms to mons that are generally weird/underpowered to begin with. Is Mega Tatsugiri gonna incorporate Dondozo influence in its design? The two are tied to the hip in Paldea to the extent one has an ability to tagteam with the other, so it'd be odd if they just left it out.

And a bit off the DLC topic but:

Mega Starmie to me does kinda come off they wanted to do the Alolan Exeggutor thing yet again with comically elongated body part though not realizing that you need to make it look actually practical for the joke to truly land.

It does show a lot of personality through its animations and I do like that but the concept's kinda bit too flawed to work generally.

Interesting that Zera, Heatran & Darkrai are indeed DLC mons. I guess they just had more work done on them at the time the final snapshot was taken for items? Or they just overlooked them when doing clean up.

I look forward to, once again, not being able to actually evolve Scyther into Kleavor.

Tasugiri is also interesting as a mega concept because its movepool is pretty barren. Water moves, dragon moves, support moves and a couple other rando moves like Icy Wind & Lunge. Probably the mega I'm most interested in seeing just for what it'll even do.

Would Champions give it Giga Commander that makes Dondozo basically a make-shift mega lol

So the thing about Starmie is its basis appears to be in something that is patently silly looking (Ultraman and various goofy alien designs from old Tokusatsu media, and/or games paying tribute to said media like Earthbound's Starman). Exeggutor is an exaggeration of a real-life flora phenomenon, as opposed to deliberately silly and fictional, which colors my evaluation of the design. Like there's a clear point besides "LONG" that the animations also bear out.

I also enjoy the spread we have in the DLC. All the Gen 9 ones are a pleasant surprise and I love the Alola love too so.

But I am surprised there's no other Gen 8 ones! It's just poor little Falinks. Figured we could have gotten at least one more. Grapploct might've been cool, or Toxtricity. Or leap into Hisui with Kleavor or Overqwil.

i think we should force pokemon fans to watch tokusatsu before ever saying a pokemon has no basis for its reference
Related but I've been absolutely floored at how lukewarm the response to Mega Zygarde has been, even in this thread. Look I'm sorry but if you can't understand why Dynamicpro Super Robot With A Gigantic Fucking Cannon isn't the coolest legendary Pokemon of all time* you're just not in the zone. Getting designs this maximalist and hot-blooded is something that doesn't happen, like, ever in this franchise. I wanna say Mega Rayquaza and Ultra Necrozma were the last ones?

*I mean I didn't really get it either until like 2 months ago but shhhhhhh

I think the giant missile is ok but the actual body is just kind of. Lame? Its lacking something to me. And the really thin strands holding up the rocket dont do much for me.

For whatever it's worth, I think if Galar really only had to get just one Mega then Falinks was about the best pick they could've gone with. It's one of the most popular Galar guys and its Mega Evolution literally uses a sword and shield
