Mega Basic has Sharpness?
Wait
Glaive Rush is now a Slicing move?!?!?
Dragon Claw is a Slicing move, but we don’t know if it will get Sharpness or if Glaive Rush is also getting the same boost.
Some Dragon type getting Sharpness is likely, either being Mega Bax, Haxorus, or both.

+1 252 Atk Sharpness Baxcalibur-Mega Dragon Claw vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Avalugg: 169-201 (42.8 - 51%) -- 3.9% chance to 2HKO
+1 252 Atk Sharpness Baxcalibur-Mega Glaive Rush vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Avalugg: 255-300 (64.7 - 76.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
I don’t see this thing remaining OU for longer than a week if it gets Sharpness with the Dragon Claw change.
This is honestly amazing yet scary. I can name a few OU Pokémon who can't even Ohko Max Def Avalugg at +6, only needing one Dragon Dance to 2 shot is crazy work.

Outside of Magearna? What really qualifies? Especially ones that negatively impact Feraligatr.

Also, Champions is doubles based and have access to more viable checks to it. I fail to see what y'all talking about, especially if you guys are arguing for Dragon Dance (ass set)
Nvm I guess I am wrong but I feel Like mega Zeraora, Lucario z, Garchomp z and absol z have a chance to get banned too

There are actually quite a lot of moves boosted by Sharpness that aren't on any Pokémon with the ability since, theoretically, you can steal the moves or the ability or whatever.

Glaive Rush's Japanese name also seems to more directly translate to "Giant Sword Assault". That very much falls in line with the intended flavor.

I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Mega Bax got Sharpness, but they just slapped Multiscale onto Mega Dragonite so who knows.

Has any other move changed categories before the category was introduced?
Like Dragon Claw is now a slicing move, but the slicing category was introduced in SV.

I also think this could mean there is a new ability related to slicing moves that makes the user immune to slicing moves or reduced their effectiveness.

All Wind moves

Question, for the new abilities that were already revealed, it didn't changed on this metagame because they're yet to code it in the server, or just because we'll stick with the old speculated abilities?

:absol-mega-z:
Absol-Mega-Z @ Absolite Z
Ability: Sharpness
- Night Slash
- Shadow Claw
- Sucker Punch/Shadow Sneak
- Swords Dance/Psycho Cut/Aerial Ace

With Shadow Claw getting reclassified as a slicing move, I'm thinking Sharpness is now the most likely ability for Mega Absol Z. That and its Pokedex entry being: Using fur that it has made into sharp, clawlike shapes, it cuts down foes with a single blow. This is an act of kindness to keep them from suffering.

Tough Claws would be too much because while the boost is only 30% compared to Sharpness's 50%, Sharpness would also boost moves like Shadow Sneak and Sucker Punch (its priority moves), as well as coverage moves like Close Combat.

Technician is just really ass for this mon and doesn't fit it. As is, it has major Kartana syndrome where its Attack may be high, but its moves don't have BP high enough to really take advantage of it.

I agree with both of these takes, Tough Claws boosted Close Combat reaches 156 BP, and Play Rough would become 117 BP. Even it's stab moves would be absurbly strong, it's picking up ko's it really shouldn't:
+2 252 Atk Tough Claws Absol-Mega-Z Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Corviknight: 328-387 (82.2 - 96.9%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Tough Claws Absol-Mega-Z Play Rough vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Multiscale Dragonite: 300-354 (92.8 - 109.5%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO
Having the chance of ko'ing Dragonite through Multiscale is all the info I need to know, it would be crazy

On top of that, all Technician really does is make weak moves more middle range. It's good for Pokemon who can survive attacks since they mostly need to survive an attack and answer back like Mega Scizor with Bullet Punch (my beloved). Absol Z doesn't live a good amount of unboosted moves from some NU Pokemon:
252 SpA Delphox Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 8 SpD Absol-Mega-Z: 246-289 (90.7 - 106.6%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
(8 SpD assuming the new EV system)
Sharpness is most likely imo, I hope this confirms that the Z megas aren't getting shared abilities, but then again, TPC is unpredictable so we'll see

Honestly I much rather have all new mega evolution get legalised in national dex ou then champion ou since 3 mega will be not allowed Zeraora, Magerna and Darkrai
