Pokémon Champions - releasing April 8, 2026

Honestly power creep has felt suffocating over the last few years I think it's great that some things have been nerfed and the new megas aren't game breaking. Some things like leech seed nerf are sad but you take the good with the bad I guess
TBH, yeah.

A lot of the Megas getting just regular abilities alongside no Band/Specs or Life Orb suggests to me a sidegrade esque approach to a lot of these Megas. Which I don't mind. Or well, that the choice is focused on Items Clause or these items not being available ATM in mind.

no idea if this was relevant to the mechanics thread since Ive never really posted there but Incineroar lost access to not only Knock Off but U-Turn as well

Please tell me there is a way to battle 6v6 singles in this game?
there is not

the amount of like move changes and moveset changes, as well as status changes is pretty nice

Unbelievable blunder from GF. Like just make 6v6 in private rooms. What the fuck man. Maybe a patch one day?
no 6v6 singles is a bummer but like, nothing is really stopping Smogon OU from making their own format based on the changes just with 6v6 right? that or just waiting until Gen 10 releases

presumably 6v6 will still exist in Gen 10 it just wont be in Champions, since its never been an officially supported format and Gen 10 will probably still have like unofficial format support

The new Megas would be very underwhelming even in Gen 7. Like Tough Claws would have been a modest ability for Emboar and Skarmory, then they end up with do nothing abilities. And then compare them to Mega Lopunny, Mega Charizard, and Mega Venusaur that all got really great abilities and good stats too.

I found a Garbodor with Corrosive Gas, nice to see that move back after its technical absence in SV despite being usable and Metronome-callable.
I have spotted Burn Up on (Johto) Typhlosion as well, returning in a similar manner.

Also Garbodor is the first mon I've checked that has Attract in its movepool for some reason despite not being a natural learner.

Infatuation is still 50%, if anyone was wondering after every other RNG status seems to be toned down.

6v6, Triples and Rotations would be awesome stuff to have even if without a ladder.

Dragonite didn't get Dual Wingbeat back smh. Haven't checked for Feraligatr's Ice Punch, but lad will be throwing draconic nukes anyway.

Quite annoyed at how we are once again getting a new incomplete set of menu icons, as home didn't update. The BDSP ones have always been great.
