Pokémon Mega Chesnaught

Mega Chesnaught

Grass / Fighting

Bulletproof

88 HP / 137 ATK / 172 DEF / 74 SPA / 115 SPD / 44 SPE

Main STAB Options
Grassy Glide, Wood Hammer, Body Press, Close Combat, Drain Punch, Low Kick

Useful Moves
Belly Drum, Bulk Up, Crunch, Curse, Earthquake, Gyro Ball, High Horsepower, Iron Defense, Knock Off, Leech Seed*, Pain Split, Payback, Poison Jab, Roar, Spikes, Stone Edge, Substitute, Swords Dance, Synthesis, Taunt, Thunder Punch

Champions Changes that benefit Chesnaught
Significantly lower power level from the removal of Choice Band but more importantly Choice Specs and Life Orb limits the amount of Pokemon that can threaten Chesnaught for a 2hko to mostly just mega evolutions like Charizard, Gardevoir, and Floette
Removal of Heavy-Duty Boots makes Flying-types significantly worse as answers, especially if Chesnaught is running Stone Edge
Paralysis nerf makes Chesnaught far more likely to survive being paraflinched

Potential Sets:

SD + 3A or 2A Synthesis, CC WH SE as likely attacks, best set for Trick Room, Hammer Arm as an option in TR
Bulk Up with Bpress > CC, trades small amount of power for being significantly harder to take down, Curse as potential for Trick Room
Iron Defense with Bpress / Knock Off / Synthesis
Support sets with Bpress / Synthesis / Pick of Roar, Spikes, Taunt
^ All sets are likely best running spdef, natural physical bulk and attack are already high enough and speed is irrelevant

Checks / Counters:
Special Megas (Charizard, Clefable, Dragonite, Alakazam, Dgleam Meganium, Gardevoir, Froslass, Delphox, Glimmora, Floette)
Will-O-Wisp (Dragapult, Skeledirge, Msab)
Volcarona

*Leech Seed's description describes a nerf but it functions normally iirc, if nerf gets implemented Leech Seed is likely not useful

Honestly with all these monsters running around it's good that we have mega chesnaught to keep some of them in line. Fat breakers who are great defensive presences, are great to have, especially right now.

This Mon is definitely slept on by people who may not be as tapped in, but this Mon ran blunder's tournaments for a reason, and it should absolutely be something to look out for
