OU/BL Team, not really standard (RMT)

Hi there. This is my first post too.

I just recently got back into battling. The last time was over a year ago on NetBattle. Needless to say I'm still new to D/P. This is the team I am currently using on Shoddy, and any comments/suggestions are appreciated. I'm trying to stray away from the standards, because, well, I think they're kinda boring. Most of the sets I used are from Smogon database. I've done a little testing, but I still get my butt kicked once in a while.

Maggy May (Mismagius) (F) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 116 HP/252 Spd/140 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Will-o-wisp
- Thunder Wave
- Substitute

I think a good starter is important. I like Mismagius, Wisp and TWave can cause a lot of problems on teams. The Lum berry is for Hypnosis.

Cloverfield (Tentacruel) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 204 HP/38 Spd/96 SAtk/172 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Toxic Spikes

I'm using him because I want to see how effective Toxic Spikes are. I also needed a spinner. He is also useful in drawing out an electric attack for...

Brilliant Dynamite Neon (Electivire) (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Motor Drive
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Thunderpunch
- Ice Punch
- Cross Chop
- Earthquake

What a monster. I was so happy Electebuzz got an evolution. Switch in on a TBolt and sweep away. Again, a set from Smogon. He seems to be doing his job well.

Mr. Snuffleapagus (Mamoswine) (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 64 HP/252 Atk/192 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Ice Shard
- Peck (was Ice Fang)

From what I understand Garchomp is a popular poke. This guys also counters Salamence. Ice Shard is a great attack.

dpmfa146.png

Simurgh (Moltres) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP/148 Def/112 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Will-o-wisp
- Flamethrower
- Roost
- Substitute

This was at one point Heatran. I'm still up in the air about it. He is good against grass, and can draw an electric move as well.

dpmfa134.png

King Neptune (Vaporeon) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 188 HP/252 Def/68 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect
- Surf
- Hidden Power [Electric]

Protect is great. I can see if they use a Tbolt or a Leaf Storm against Vaporeon. Then I can switch into the proper counter, and might even get a wish off in the mean time.

So I guess my main strategy is to exploit Electivire's ability. I seem to have issues with Blissey - if Electivire goes down I really have no way to deal with her.

Thanks! My name is Thelonious Funk on Shoddy if you want to battle.

You may want to put Peck on this seeing as if you accidentally burn an incoming Heracross or Machamp, you can Peck it with a CB'd Flying attack, helping you out immensely.

Oh my god I love your shoddy nickname. That is sheer brilliance.

The rest of your team is actually pretty good.

Hi there. This is my first post too.

Ohi.

Maggy May (Mismagius) (F) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Levitate

Good Call, but I think you'll need something to take on blissey. She switched in, and it's pretty much a GG. At least put focus blast / shadow ball on there, unresisted combo is cool. Blast > Sub, maybe?

dpmfa073.png

Cloverfield (Tentacruel) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 204 HP/38 Spd/96 SAtk/172 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Toxic Spikes

Fine.

dpmfa466.png

Brilliant Dynamite Neon (Electivire) (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Motor Drive
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Thunderpunch
- Ice Punch
- Cross Chop
- Earthquake

Also cool. Try a lonely nature and some special attack EVs, so you don't get walled so easy by skarmory.

Mr. Snuffleapagus (Mamoswine) (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 64 HP/252 Atk/192 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Ice Shard
- Ice Fang

From what I understand Garchomp is a popular poke. This guys also counters Salamence. Ice Shard is a great attack.

Bullshit. Mamoswine cannot counter salamence to save his life. Flamethrower, Fire Fang, Fire Blast, Draco Meteor..

dpmfa146.png

Simurgh (Moltres) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP/148 Def/112 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Will-o-wisp
- Flamethrower
- Roost
- Substitute

This was at one point Heatran. I'm still up in the air about it. He is good against grass, and can draw an electric move as well.

I'd go with heatran, but whatever. You have a spinner, so It's all good.

dpmfa134.png

King Neptune (Vaporeon) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 188 HP/252 Def/68 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect
- Surf
- Hidden Power [Electric]

Good.

AWESOME NICK.

Well Mamoswine can't switch into Salamence, but it can revenge kill. I would reword that since a counter must be able to switch in to any or most of the other pokes attacks and force it to switch or deal immediate heavy damage to it.

Probably the best pokemon nicknames and shoddy nick ever. 10/10 for that. Now on to the rating

I agree with above poster, EDIT: Hidden power fighting > substitute, it'll come in mroe handy to deal with those pesky normal types that resist SB.

@above poster: He doesn't really need to make those edits to Electivire, as with his current EV spread and nature, he shouldn't get walled by skarmory so bad, he'll at least put a dent in it without too much reciprocal retaliation.

Mismagius can't learn Focus Blast, the next best thing it has is HP Fighting.

Anyway, I'm really not sure about the status moves on Missy and Moltres when you have Tentacruel laying down toxic spikes and poisoning every grounded non-steel type. You could give Mismagius a sub+calm mind set so it can actually beat Blissey while boasting a kick-ass move combo.
