Prom

So senior prom is coming up soon and I was just wondering if anyone had some advice on creative ways to ask a girl to prom.
I have never gone to any school dances (probably due to my lack of dancing skills) but I do not want to miss my senior prom.
I know that my girlfriend is waiting for me to ask her but I am coming up with a blank on how do it. So if anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

Decorate the locker? If you have access.

does she play any sports? Does she do any certain activity? You can incorporate something with that.

Why do you want it to be creative? You have a girlfriend. It's prom, not a proposal, just ask her if she wants to go to prom. If she says yes, say k cool let's go together. Done? It's not like you're asking out a girl you aren't already together with.

Girls love being asked to prom in ridiculously elaborate fashions apparently. Buy a bunch of tea candles and light the up at night to spell Prom? out and see where it leads!

I did a scavenger hunt of sorts like I started with a note in her locker and continued on through her schedule. Each note lead her to the next like "under your chair" or what not. Obviously, you can only do this if you know the girl would like to go with you. You can have a lot of fun with this depending on her personality as I had her asking staff members and making her do other awkward things. She had a good time telling me about her adventure and she really enjoyed herself. My clues were all in a riddle form as the girl I'm went with is pretty sharp and I knew she'd like that. Obviously, the last note should direct her to an empty room (you can even spruce up that room a bit) with you in it where you'll ask her. A good place to put the last note is in her backpack/lunch as even if she somehow gets lost with your other clues, she'll find it eventually anyway.

EDIT: Granted, if you're already dating I suppose you could extend this a bit and have her come to your house where you'll ask her and then you guys could "celebrate".

EDIT2: Don't "just ask her". You really only get one shot to do something like this. Make it special.

She's already your girlfriend, it's not like she doesn't know you have a crush on her. :p
Just ask her, casually. I mean, she won't refuse. Girls love being asked to things like this.

I know that my girlfriend is waiting for me to ask her.
I reccommend not waiting too long so that she doesn't get the wrong idea, other than that I can see why you're nervous but it seems a tad unfounded.

EDIT: Also make sure how you ask her doesn't outdo the actual prom itself >.>

Booooooo, you're no fun!

I asked my date for Senior Prom out by jumping out of a tree dressed as a ninja when she opened her front door, doing a somersault forward, throwing a throwing-star shaped invitation at her feet, and then leaping into the open trunk of my passing friend's car.

Junior Prom saw me dressing up as a full-blown mariachi, writing a complete love song/invitation and serenading my then girlfriend in the middle of class with a cardboard donkey.

Just enjoy yourself, whatever you decide on doing, and make it memorable. Prom shouldn't be taken seriously anyways. :-p

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I know I could just ask her but I already know what the answer is going to be so I want to make it more fun.
Our school not having lockers does somewhat limit the possibilities but I do like the scavenger hunt idea or something along those lines.
If I don't come up with something by the end of the week I think I'm just gonna go with some flowers or something as I don't want to put it off to much longer.

lol i'm lame i asked my date to prom over facebook ;-;
but we've known each other for 10 years or so, so it SHOULD be fine.

anyways, write your question on a piece of paper, cut it up into a few pieces (not too many or it'll be lame), then put them in a(some) balloon(s), and make her pop the balloons to get the invitation out and then she has to put it together.

i disagree - prom should be taken seriously. if prom isn't taken seriously, then why do guys spend like 130 bucks on a tux, and why do girls spend more than that + a lot of time looking for a dress? Plus, there's all the other expenses and stuff and a few weeks of planning and a few hours of getting ready the day of (for girls at least)

also, i might try the ninja thing for my senior prom. how'd it work out?

Holy shit Americans take prom seriously. Around here, half the people didn't take a date and just went with some friends to goof off and dance with the rest of the grad year.

Same as Firestorm: it is prom, just ask what you are doing for prom. Do not even ask 'are we going to prom', she is your girlfriend! Just say 'so, what do you want to do on prom night?' or 'how do you want to plan out our prom night?' or whatever.

I would highly advise against getting a tuxedo (if you already have a suit) or being in a 'prom group' if possible!! If you are in a prom group, then your girlfriend is probably going to want to go in a limousine, and you will end up wasting like $300 on that and a suit for no good reason!

HOLY CRAP

You're my hero.

Just ask her. In normal conversation. Seriously, she's already your girlfriend, you know she's going to say yes, so it's like the easiest thing ever to do.
