I've been battling on shoddy for a while now, but this is my first RMT. My team may be entirely constructed out of BL or UU pokemon, but this team, in all seriousness, is meant for OU. Constructive criticism would be helpful. :D
Here it is:
Rotom @ Choice Scarf
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 sp. atk/ 252 spd/ 6 HP
Ability: Levitate
- Shadow Ball
- Will-o-wisp
- Thunderbolt
- Trick
Replacing Drifblim, Rotom seems to be a safer starter. It can still will-o-wisp, but double stab allows it to take on gyarados, togekiss, non-scarf/sash gengar, and more. Will-o-wisp also allows it to cripple garchomp if predicted properly. Trick is to take care of walls my team may have trouble with, like Bliss.
Steelix @ leftovers
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 252 hp/ 252 atk/ 6 sp. def
Ability: Sturdy
- Earthquake
- Gyro Ball/ Ice fang
- Roar
- Stealth Rock
Steelix is a standard on nearly all my teams, and he's virtually irreplacable.
He's the physical wall on my team (obviously), and the water bird covers all his weaknesses. Also my pseudo-hazer. It's not really meant to take special attacks, kecleon's there for that.
Hitmontop @ leftovers
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 hp/ 252 atk/ 6 def
Ability: Technician
- Mach Punch
- Fake Out
- Endeavor
- Stone Edge
Hitmontop is the reason why most of my team can afford being slow. Fake Out provides some free damage, and mach punch destroys many faster that have been slightly weakened. It doesn't have rapid spin, since most of my pokes can handle stealth rocks. Sweeper killer. Endeavor helps it take care of walls.
Slaking @ Choice Band
Nature: Naughty
EVs: 252 atk/ 252 spd/ 6 sp. atk
Ability: Traunt
- Return
- Earthquake
- Fire blast
- Pursuit
Absolutely destroys most things with it's enormous attack stat. It can switch in on many things, with that base 100 defense, but it can also serve as a decent revenge killer. Not much to explain here, just attack, and switch out.
Nidoking @ Expert Belt
Nature: Timid
EVs: 6 HP/ 252 sp. atk/ 252 spd
Ability: Poison Point
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Earth power
- Toxic Spikes
Another wall killer, it can take care of steels and gyarados(if it switches in on a taunt). Toxic spikes is the last guard in my team against persistant walls, and it absorbs toxic spikes.
And finally:
Pelipper @ leftovers
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 252 HP/ 126 def/ 126 sp. atk
Ability: Keen Eye
- U-turn
- Roost
- Air Slash
- Surf/knock off/Ice Beam
I find pelipper more useful then gyrados is many situations. Roost, u-turn, and access to one of the best double stabs (imo), makes pelipper a beast. Walls many pokes, including many fighting types lacking thunder punch, and fire types that threaten steelix. If toxic spikes are in play, it can take care of some bulky waters too.
Threat List: (underline = no real counter)
Tyranitar- Hitmontop and steelix can both switch in on stone edge, take very little damage from earthquake.
Gyarados- Rotom.
Infernape- If no thunderpunch, Pelipper can take it on easily.
Azelf- Rotom, if it comes in on a nasty plot or unboosted flamethrower.
Electivire- Steelix walls it with ease.
Heracross- Nidoking...
Salamence- Slaking, if swithing in on a physical attack.
Togekiss- Rotom
Gengar- Rotom, switch in on focus blast.
Garchomp- Slaking has the best chance.
Lucario- Hitmontop + Mach punch, before it can stat-up for a first
Starmie- No counter.
Weavile- Steelix & hitmontop.
Dugtrio- Threatens nothing but nidoking.
PorygonZ- Rotom.
Machamp- If guts, pelipper. If No Guard, Rotom.
Snorlax- Rotom, in most cases, with trick.
Zapdos- Steelix can roar it out.
Suicune- Rotom can either trick, or thunderbolt.
Breloom- Would sleep any of my slower pokes, but nidoking and rotom handle it easily.
Ninjask- Steelix for sure.
Metagross- Steelix.
Heatran- Pelipper.
Celebi- Partially weaken with pelipper + u-turn, and finish off with slaking.
Jirachi- Steelix.
Dragonite- Slaking is my best bet if it's physical. If it's special... ...
Mamoswine- Pelipper.
Gallade- Pelipper, if it doesn't have thunder punch.
Yanmega- Rotom.
Kingdra- Pelipper could stall until rain is over, I suppose. Dragon dance versions don't pose much of a threat.
Roserade- After it sleeps something slow, rotom.
Scizor- Steelix.
Changes Made:
- Drifblim --> Rotom.
- Hitmontop earthquake --> Endeavor
- Kecleon --> Slaking.
Summary:
Overall, I don't see any glaring weaknesses in my team except in terms of sleep, which Drifblim could sacrifice itself to absorb, I suppose. The dragons could also hurt my team if I don't predict well enough. Anyway, that's all, feel free to post any suggestions or helpful criticism. And thanks for taking the time to check out my team. :D
