The Fan Fiction Thread

Hi everybody.

About two and a half years ago, I got into writing and reading fan-fiction. I write all sorts of stories, mainly Final Fantasy, Pokémon, Runescape and Harry Potter ones. I realise many of you may write/read these, so I decided to make this thread for us fan fic writers to discuss what we have read/written recently.

If you've never heard of it before, but are interested in it, then check out www.fanfiction.net, which has many in all the different sections.

The most recent story I've written has been one about Runescape, and going through Monkey Madness as if it were real.
My most enjoyed one in the past weeks has been either "One half human, one half Pokémon" or "Ace of Hearts". They were both well written, about Pokémon and Harry Potter respectively.

So, here, I leave you to discuss. Have fun!

I am also an avid fanfiction enthusiast, with my hobby of sorts going back about 5 years now. I've never written anything as I'm a horrible writer but through my many years I've read a variety of great and not so great stories. I read mostly Naruto now with a bit of Harry Potter when the mood strikes me, and very rarely I'll venture back into the DBZ archives which kept me so occupied during my first 3 or so years of fanfiction.

In my honest opinion, the greatest work of fanfiction I have ever read is a Teen Titans novel, yes novel, called These Black Eyes, written by the author Post. Sadly, Post removed the story and the two sequels a few months ago and his account is now inactive, but I'm sure its out there somewhere in the sewers of the internet. Seriously, go read it, even if you don't like Teen Titans, it is the most compelling, deep, addictive story I have ever read, and most likely will ever read. With over 200 chapters, each at least 10,000 words in length, its a story you'll be reading, and enjoy doing so for a long long time.

As for stories that are still easily accessable from the Fanfiction.net site, Never Cut Twice, http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2292009/1/, is a must read for any Naruto fan. If anyone here is also a Harvest Moon fan, be sure to check out Harvest Moon: The Valentine Conspiracy, http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1345847/1/, I can easily say its the best Harvest Moon story on the site, and one the best stories overall.

I feel I should also mention my reading taste, in that I refuse to read a story under 20,000 words in length as I prefer not to spend my time on a story that I can not read for a good long while. Also, stories over 20,000 are more likely to be either completed or enough of the plot done that I'm sufficiently hooked enough to wait for the next chapter.

I read one today:

Pokémon Periwinkle: Its Real!, and thought it was great. Just check it out in the Pokémon section. If you bother reading really long stories, and like FFVII, then take a look at "Sephiroths Other Side", which I felt was rather good.

Man, this takes me back. I thought about not posting here, but I think a real "lol" moment is in order. Let the ridicule commence!

You see, back when I was big into Yu-Gi-Oh!, I was a frequent visitor of the Pojo boards. One of the things I really enjoyed was the fanfic section. Some of those fanfics inspired me to write my own.

The fanfic was based on the epic excuse for an anime that is Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. Oh god, just thinking about that makes me sick. Anyway, I had this story spin off from a storyline that occurred towards the end of the first series. (The good one--which isn't saying much.)

Surprisingly, the story is still up on Pojo since I posted it last year. I had at least 52 episodes planned, but I abandoned the project after 6. (Yeah, I know...)

Anyway, take a look:

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monster Battle Quest

(How original...) XD

I'm not one for fanfiction, as I am not a very good writer. (I also am vastly unmotivated to create a fic of my own) But pretty much anything written by this man is pure gold.

All of this is absolute genius. So many of his fanfics have been machinima'd and put onto Youtube. Makes me wish I'd played more of the games they're written on so I can get the most out of it. I've only played Half Life and Halo. Still Full Life Consequences is hilarious. In part due the the great voices acting on that video... I've seen others with different voices and it just doesn't work...

I can believe My Immortal hasn't been mentioned yet. Also, try and google "worst fanfic ever" for a laugh.

On a more serious side, as an aspiring writer, I've tried my hands on fanfiction too (mainly video game related, most notably the FF-series), but they always ended up being too much of a spin-off and derived so much from canon, they were more or less my own stories with stolen names.

Uh purg sanjay posted my immortal earlier

And yeah I was going to mention it too, god it's hilarious

This is an amazing chapter: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2828044/7/My_Immortal "we started frenching passively" also "VAMPIRE POTTER YOU MOTHERFUCKER!!!" and "“Abra Kedavra!” he yelled at Snape and Loopin pointing his womb"

edit: For those who havent read it, heres an example:

I was really scared about Vlodemort all day. I was even upset went to rehearsals with my gothic metal band Bloody Gothic Rose 666. I am the lead singer of it and I play guitar. People say that we sound like a cross between GC, Slipknot and MCR. The other people in the band are B’loody Mary, Vampire, Draco, Ron (although we call him Diabolo now. He has black hair now with blue streaks in it.) and Hargrid. Only today Draco and Vampire were depressed so they weren’t coming and we wrote songs instead. I knew Draco was probably slitting his wrists (he wouldn’t die because he was a vampire too and the only way you can kill a vampire is with a c-r-o-s-s (there’s no way I’m writing that) or a steak) and Vampire was probably watching a depressing movie like The Corpse Bride. I put on a black leather shirt that showed off my boobs and tiny matching miniskirt that said Simple Plan on the butt. You might think I’m a slut but I’m really not.

I used to be really into Harry Potter fanfiction back in 2005. I'd make a ton of bookmarks to my favorite stories and even took my hand at writing two of them (posted on FF.net). A lot of it is trash, some are interesting. I got into something calle "My eternal Curse" but haven't checked up on it for at least two years.
