Counter Destroyer
Team at a Glance:
Intro:
It has always been said, how Garchomp has to be moved to Uber because of its apparent "brokenness". Well I made this team, with the sole purpose of attempting to demonstrate how dangerous this beast can really be, with the proper team to help it. This team got me to a respectful rating of 1647 on Shoddy, but I stopped laddering because I got a bit tired of it. Now I'm back, and I wanna make this team better than before.
Game Plan:
As the team's name says, the idea si to destroy all the counters of one pokemon, said pokemon being Garchomp. Everything on my team does an amazing job at supporting Garchomp and slowly opening up his way for an awesome late-game sweep where it seems unebeatable. The team can range fron the standardness of SDYache Chomp, to the surprise factor provided by ScarfTar. I now present to you,Team Counter Destroyer.
In Depth:
@ Lum Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/152 Atk/8 Def/96 SDef
Sassy nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Hypnosis
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock
- Explosion
Description: Bronzong is by far one of the best pokemon D/P brought for the metagame, capable of walling hits from various pokemon, such as Garchomp, Tyranitar, and Weavile. Along with its awesome typing, Bronzong is not scared to switch into many things.
EVs: EVs are pretty much standard. 152 Atk has a very nice shot a OHKO'ing Gengar, while Lum Berry allows me to absorb sleep. The rest of the EVs provide bulkiness.
Team Work: Bronzong provides an early SR, gets pokemon to sleep, takes out Gengar, and can take out one pokemon with Explosion. I don't normally run Explosion on this guy, but seeing as how I have a bulky Gyarados, I think this guy can just go all-out offense on anything he sees. He can counter the likes of Garchomp and Mamoswine and Weavile, but honestly I prefer that he packs an early KO with Explosion.
@ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/ 6 Sp Atk
Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
Description: Tyranitar is a pokemon that at the same time providing offense, can provide excellent special walling thanks to its Sand Stream ability. The one stat it lacks (Speed), will be boosted by the Choice Scarf surprising the opponnets in many moments of the game. This set was created by Kirchinator from Smogon, I do not take any credit for making it.
EVs: The spread allows it to out speed all base 115's at their max. OHKO's Infernape and Lucario with EQ. 2HKO's Starmie while surviving a surf. Most importantly, this spread allows a OHKO with crunch on the common CBdugtrio
Team Work:This set takes care of all hindrances that outspeed and stop a Chomp sweep. The fact that nobody expects this guy to be scarfed is a major plus. Takes care of all the pokemon mentioned above. Only pokes that this guy can't stop are Weavile and Mamoswine. But that can be taken care of by another one of my members.
@ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 172 HP/190 Spd/148 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Substitute
- Magnet Rise
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Description: Ahhh Magnezone. I always wanted to use this guy, because he is friggin awesome, and I finally found a place for him on one of my teams. Magnezone is without a doubt the best steel killer in the game thanks to its awesome Magnet Pull. Resisting a lot of types including the ever so common BoltBeam is great for my somewhat offensive team.
EVs:The EVs are only different from the standard one in the form that they prevent the Standard Agiligross spread fom outspeeding and will eventually end up to its death.
Team Work: This guy takes care of all those pesky steels such as Zong and Skarm that stand in the way of a Garchomp sweep. This guy can only pack a few KOs on non-steel pokemon with its amazing amount of resistances. When a choiced user is identified using a move that would be not very effective against this guy, he can easily score one or 2 KOs with ease.
@ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 212 HP/ 8 Atk/184 Def/104 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Waterfall
- Dragon Dance
Description: Aaahh yes Gyarados. This guy can help against a bunch of common physical threats thanks to its wonderful ability in Intimidate. He is strong enough to take hits, can attack, and can absorb status due to the set I'm using. The main problem Gyara has, is its lack of recovery. With ResTalk, this guy can be a pain.
EVs: Max HP to fend off hits from both Physical and Special side (though it isn't meant to), and the rest of the EVs are just meant for bulkiness.
Team Work: This guy helps against Weavile, Mamoswine, Heracross and Lucario, fending off anything they have to dish out. The most important ones he stop, are the first two mentioned, which can stop a Chomp sweep, but this guy prevents that from happening.
@ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 160 HP/220 Spd/128 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin
- Recover
Description: Starmie has been in most of the teams I've had, and I must say, it has never let me down. Spins those Toxic Spikes and Spikes which could hurt Garchomp while it attempts to sweep. Excellent Gyarados and Mixape counter and takes care of weakened opposing SDChomps with Surf.
EVs: The EVs are pretty standard. 220 Spd + Timid nature allow to
outspeed Gengars and Infernapes as well as outspeeding other Starmie who are at 216 Spd ^__^.
Team Work: Takes care of two big threats, Infernape and Gyarados. Spins away Toxic Spikes, as well as other Spikes and Rocks, and is fast enough to revenge kill some pokes.
@ Yache Berry
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang
- Swords Dance
Description: The star of the show. Every member of the team, is based to help ths guy start a sweep, and end the game with one. SDYache Chomp takes 2 pokemon to take out, but after its counters being taken out by my other 5 members, there's no stopping this guy.
EVs: As you can see the EVs are very carefully placed.
Team Work: He is the team. Everyone opens ways for him, letting him do his job and finish things up.
Alright guys, this is my team that worked with a lot of success. If you find any flaws or something I could improve, don't hesitate to post. Also I didn't add a threat list because its your job (the rater), to find problems with my team ^__^.
P.S: No I did not just use husk's format xD.
