What's the best level to get a pokemons IVs besides 50 or 100? I'm just curious because I don't want to ask for IV battles or Rare Candy them up to lvl 50.

Level 100 is the best, and there's nothing special about 50.

It's just the higher the level is, the more accurate the IVs are.

Questions about Ranch..

1) Is Happiness affected by depositing/withdrawing from it?
2) If I make a backup of my game's save file, then something happens to my game card (getting lost, stolen, etc.)... Can I restore the backup save to a new game card and be able to access the Pokémon I've deposited?

If You use Belly Drum and then use Baton Pass, does the effect of belly drum get passed too?

I don't know how else to answer this but with, "Yes." Stat gains or lowerings and extra affects like Leech Seed and Mean Look are passed with Baton Pass.

Okay, my question. I'm trying to prove to my friends that there were no EVs or EV training in RBY, but they're asking things like why trained Pokémon have higher stats than Rare Candy Pokémon and why things like Calcium existed, etc. So, the question is this: Were there EVs in RBY? And if not, how can I prove it to them?

There were EVs in RBY. The difference is that you could max all stats. Oh and Lv. 100 Pokémon still gained Effort Points, so you can prove EVs exist by getting a Pokémon to Lv. 100 with Rare Candies, then battling for a bit, and depositing the Pokémon in a PC Box. Upon withdrawing, its stats should have raised a bit.

Also, because you could max out all stats, people didn't care for EVs back then.

[EDIT: OK maybe I was wrong, and Pokémon still gave only 1, 2, or 3 points to one stat in RBY. Or so Bulbapedia says.]

Lv. 50 burns me.

Why? Because at Lv. 100, my Magnezone has 1 point faster Speed than my Tyranitar. So in Doubles, I can Magnet Rise, then my Tyranitar uses EQ.

At Lv. 50, they're both the same speed........ Ruining that strategy. Which sucks since my friends don't care about the level thing, and love Doubles. =(

K. Just wanted to mention that.

How much are the chances of Focus Band helping the Pokemon hold on for 2 turns? What about 3?

Cuz I got "haxed" in the Battle Tower. >_>
They use Double Team, too!! D=
lol

In order to purify Lugia, you need to put it in the purification chamber. All of the rooms within the chamber must have maximum tempo. Lugia will be instantly purified once you put him in.

The other day I was playing on Shoddy. I lead with an Infernape against my opponent's Hippowdon. I go first (obviously) and use Taunt as he uses Stealth Rock. Then I use encore, encoring Stealth Rock, but then, when he uses Stealth Rock, it doesn't fail because of the taunt! Is this a glitch on Shoddy perhaps?

bump

Can someone explain the way the darcare peeps add/delete moves? do newer moves just replace older ones? What about Egg moves?

If you keep your pokes for breeding, they just delete its first move to make rooms for a new one. For example if a Pokemon has

-Move A
-Move B
-Move C
-Move D

And learns a Move E at a certain level, Move A will be deleted because its the first in the queue. To prevent this from happening you can switch around the order of the moves, or alternately go and get the irrelevant moves deleted by way of the move deleter.

Keep in mind that if egg moves are deleted in this fashion, they can't be relearned by the Pastoria Move Tutor.

You need to have a nature that does not reduce attack and at least 136 EVS and 31 IVS for Attack.
Okay, but when I do damage calcs on that, it only comes to ~350 damage, so I don't see how its going to OHKO. Can someone damage calc it and show me how they did it or screenshot it.

@MALR:Did you add in the halved defense part? and Sandstorm gives a 1.5x Def boost to Rock-types
Oh I had no idea it reduced defense, so if i use regirock, he will actually have half of his normal defense when SS is active?

I think he was referring to Explosion halving the foe's defense.

All SS does is raise Sp. Def 50% for Rock types. It doesn't lower or increase any other stat (except for Sand Veil pokes, whose Evasion rises).

Okay thanks. I didn't know it halved opponents Def. Never saw it mentioned in the game hehe.

I figured I'd BUMP. Because my post was on the other page, so.
Strict Damage Clause means that any damage that would do over 100% will show as 100%. It is used to not give away items like a Choice Band.
For example, you Earthquake a Lucario at 43% and you would do around 250% damage, with Strict Damage Clause it would show that you did 43% damage.

And no, Ocktazooka isn't banned due to evasion clause because it lowers accuracy, not boosting evasion.

Wait... you taunted, and then he SRed? WTF? I reccomend posting this kind of question on the shoddy forums since Smogon is not really affiliated with them.

Hyper Beam on Specs Jolteon?

I mean, it sounds really crazy, but Dry-BP just seems like a waste...
Jolteon is not very bulky, so it can't take hits well and better off using thunder, which would have a higher BP with no recharge turn.
Hyper Beam on ANYTHING (barring Porygon-Z) is a bad idea.

Okay, what exactly is the Strict Damage Clause? And does the Evasion Clause include moves like Octazooka?
Strict Damage clause restricts extra damage being shown. For example.. if an attack does 200%, it would show up as 100%, or however much damage the opponent has left.

And evasion clause only affects moves like double team and minimize, not moves that have a secondary affect that would affect evasion.

When one of your Pokemon learns a new move, the day care couple delete the top move on your list to make room for the new one.

Egg moves are passed down from the parents to the newly Hatched Pokemon, if they happen to be on the list of the hatched Pokemon's egg move list.

There is nothing illegal about SRing for breeding.

For the rebattle codes, just google them. You can find them easily enough.

Does yache berry activate if an ice attack hits a sub?
