Fiddled with the leg configurations. By the way Gothic Togekiss, try getting a hand into the backsprite without making it look as if it's view is blocked. I would remove it but somehow I think people prefer to have at least one in. *cough*

I'll try a few of these suggestions on hand positioning later. I've already tried (and failed) the "aha" hand from the right, two hands in prayer and a chopping hand.

It's funny, I thought I'd brought these up. But I didn't, I just thought of them in my head but forgot to post them.

Dejavu. And I'll see how putting the hand over the head looks later. Then move it out to the side if it doesn't look good.

I understand what you mean by that. People seem to really like things with big hands to have at least one of those head crushing palms to be within the backsprite. Personally, I could care less if you remove it completely or not, as long as the overall sprite look great I can live with it. My only concern at the moment is that hand and to find a better position for it.

So much better! Excellent job. Unless someone comes out of nowhere, you're getting my vote. :)

I personally don't mind if none of the hands are in the back sprite. But if you want to keep trying, why not shift the body to the right, and put the hand on the left? You could cut off as much of it as you want that way, just put enough in so that it looks like its next to it.

Gah, I know I said that I was going to edit the sprite into my post a few posts ago, but I didn't expect the place to get all chatty. >_<

No, I didn't rip the shading from NP. Though, his was basically a shading 101 for me. I'm not sure if I fiddeled around with the spike in a later edit or if you did there, but I did modify the middle spiky/drill. I love how he shaded it. I wish I had known how to do that before.

As I mentioned before, the colors have been darkened slightly. I fixed small things like the armband things on the arms. I had actually forgotten it on the one picking up sludge, so I added it in.

On the shiny, I took out the red for gold because the original was red. It's kinda gaudy, but I think it fits the pokemon. I may darken them, the lighter shade of brown is too light while the blue is very bright.

I will posting my final sprite tonight. I have all the arms colored I just need to color and reposition the hands.

2 down, 6 to go U_U;

With respect to anyone who's tried to sprite our friend DLL, I think it'll be a match between Elevator Music and Wyverii. They have both been the best by far!

I'm continuing to work on this sprite, but mainly because I've sunk my teeth into it and I'm enjoying playing with it. I still have no plans to make a back sprite, therefore I won't submit it into the competition. I think this thing will end up being my new avatar, just like my current avatar was a Syclant sprite I worked up back during CAP 1.

Absolution gave me some great feedback. This latest revision gets rid of the "baby legs" that were a forshortening attempt gone awry. I've replaced and reworked four of the hands. I've also come up with two different facial expressions -- one smiling and one serious. I'm not sure which I prefer.

I really like them Doug. I wish you'd do a backsprite, but if you don't want to you don't have to. Nobody should be forced to do something so annoying *shudder*.

Speaking of which, I'm continuing to work on the outline for the backsprite. I'll have an update posted soon.

Does anyone know how to make a transparent background? =[

This is the female sprite, I decided the male would have the bottom spike which I am still working on, ha.

Here is the (almost) final outline of the backsprite. I'm going to start shading in a sec, so any comments better be fast.

The hand is more or less out of the face now. Only the thumb is behind the ear, but the way I invision it it's not really that close to the head anyhow.

Lawman, I use photobucket to make things transparent since my photoshop trial expired. It works well enough, though it leaves some spots if you look closely.

Good job on the front pose Wyverii, that makes soooo much more sense, it looks great. Just one thing though: where did the arm for the centre-rightmost hand go? It seems as if the hand is just floating above the "standing" leg below it, disconnected from the body. :S

I'm agreeing with GT and Absolution about the hands; I don't really think it's necessary if it looks awkward otherwise. Anyway, we've already got eight arms worth of hands on the front pose...

EDIT: Although my first preference is no hands, I do like how you positioned it, EM. I don't think it looks awkward anymore --- almost like it's waving. If I have one more thing to suggest ( I actually wanted to say this before but forgot ), the little purple band-thingy around the middle is kind of flat, making it look more like a stripe than a "bulge". Maybe make it more "puffy"? That's all I can think of if you're looking for things to do before shading.

Fixed it sorta GT. I had it widedned by a few pixels before, but the arm going out on the right cut into it, making it look less puffy.

I also fixed a tiny mistake I made with the left ear. I'm going to start shading as soon as this is posted. I'll update when I'm done.

When I'm done finishing my back sprite, could someone do the transparency for me? I have GIMP but I can't figure out the backgrounds, and I don't have photoshop.

I have finished my front sprites and I'm working on the back pose right now. I don't think my back sprite will have a gender difference, so I will have only 6 main sprites.

Wow Doug, I absolutely love your front sprite! I like the newest one with the smirk. It just looks so perfect; it represents the typing so well, but I can't really put my finger on why... Also the big, top left hand should be shaded like it was in your first one (much better imo).

It's really a shame that you won't do a back sprite, as yours is currently my favorite. If you won't, isn't there some way we can use one of the others (possibly recolored to match) back and your front?

Speaking of back sprites...
This is my favorite so far for the BACK SPRITE. It was done by flygon493. Great job!

This is pretty much the final stuff now. I addressed the few issues with the front sprites legs which I hope look nice and uniform now and hand positioning in the back sprite. Many thank yous to the nitpicky people who keep getting me off my butt to fix mistakes. ;p I hope you're all satisfied with the results you've helped bring me to. This was a fun sprite to do and I enjoyed it.

Now that i'll be paying less attention to my own stuff now i'll focus on other people.

DJD: Your sprite is certainly very different from my own so i'll try and look at it from a detached point of view. It has a lot of foreshortening which adds a dynamic to the sprite but you have to watch the balance of this thing. I suggest having the two back arms in the air spread out from each other a bit, they look cluttered back there and though the two hands on the ground at the front are very well done the ones in the air feel very one dimensional and out of proportion which is probably due to the palms facing directly forward and yet having the fingers bend at an odd angle despite that. I'd say more but then i'd start imposing my own techniques on you and that wouldn't be fair. Feel free to disregard this advice. :3

Lawman: If you really want transparency just send me the finished sprites via PM (preferably as one image) and i'll do it for you.

Thanks for the compliments! I may do a full submission if there's some interest in my front sprite.

If I do a full submission, instead of choosing between serious and smiling versions, perhaps I can make one male and one female? I plan to increase the shadow on the top left hand. Considering my light source, it's the technically correct way to shade it. I may not make it quite as dark as before.

I like Nasty Pass's backsprite the best so far.

Me *starting* to color my backsprite, to show I haven't up and died. The head was easy and imo looks great, everything else overwhelms me. >_> I haven't started the center ring or the thing below it (Handiman's butt?) or the arms attached to it. I've barely started the hand and the wrist thing connected to it, but I'm looking to change them. The elbow is decent at best. Well, here's my progress:

For the reference, anything I haven't touched is all one color.

Beautiful sprite overall and shiny colors which are very suitable for a poison Pokemon. My favorite sprite so far out of the thread.

I actually like it a lot, and I think this has serious potential. It's an original pose, and I like the style. Also, If you're going to change your avatar, can I use that Syclant one?

Also Tauros, KoA has been and will be away for a while.
