New and "creative" moveset/EV spread thread "Mark 2"

Gengar isn't even the best even the best PerishTrapper. Mismagius and even Lapras can pull it off better due to their higher defences. You are better off using them since PerishTrap takes many turns to come into affect. Also, Ghost-type Curse is a very unreliable move. Cutting your HP buy 50% and doing 25% in damage every turn is kind of pathetic when the opponent. Even if you have Hypnosis and Mean Look, that's still a lot of setting up with Gengar. You'd need 2 turns for Sub+Sleep. And then 5 more turns for Mean Look + Curse. Gengar can do way more damage in 7 turns using another set.

wouldn't perishtrapping work better?

Depends on who your trapping... I personally use..

Dusknoir (M) @ Leftovers/ Chesto Berry
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/6 SDef
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Shadow Sneak
- Rest
- Curse
- Mean Look

Mean Look and Curse is the main offense. Rest and Shadow Sneak are essentially fillers. The general point being that Dusknoir is alot better at CurseTrapping Due to his defenses.

Name: Garchomp Counter
dpmfa245.png
@Choice Scarf
Bold
128 hp, 100 def, 212 spA, 70 speed
Pressure
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-HP electric
-Extrasensory/Shadow ball

This set is designed to counter most forms of Garchomp, the only one it can't counter is the bulky salac sweeper set.

Yache Chomp: Switch in on pretty much anything and 2HKO with ice beam. The EVs on this set allow it to survive a Swords Danced Adamant Outrage approx 97% of the time. Most are Jolly anyway though, so don't let that 3% chance discourage you.

LO Chomp: Same as above. While this can't survive a +2 LO outrage, it won't have to as long as you switch in on the turn it swords dances. KO with ice beam.

Band Chomp: Switch in and take a maximum of 75% from Adamant Outrage and kill with Ice Beam.

Scarf Chomp: Switch in on any attack. This will survive 2 of anything Scarf Chomp has to throw at it while you kill with Ice Beam.

Chain Chomp: Survive any attack, KO with Ice Beam.

Bulky Salac Sweeper: Unfortunately, you can't counter this set. Garchomp will beat you to the 2HKO and you can't outrun it after Salac activates. The best you can do is get it's health down low enough so something faster or something with a priority move can revenge kill it.

SubChomp: If it subs while you switch in, break the sub while it either attacks or swords dances. If it swords dances you can survive an outrage and KO with ice beam the next turn since you're faster and it won't have a chance to sub again. If it attacks you after you switch in, simply kill it. Just hope you get lucky if Sand Veil is in effect though, since this set is mostly used with sandstream support.

Shadow Ball/Extrasensory is filler because Suicune doesn't have many other options as a scarfer.

EVs: As explained earlier, 269 spA lets you OHKO Garchomp with Ice Beam. The HP and Def give you bulk to survive a +2 Adamant Outrage about 97% of the time. 70 speed EVs grants you 334 speed, enough to outrun Jolly Garchomp.

Nature: Modest is chosen over Bold because with Bold you need to invest a ton of spA EVs to ensure a KO with Ice Beam, limiting your defensive potential.

128 hp, 84 def, 228 spA, 70 speed Bold gives the same Defense but 4 more special attack points.

Remember, when deciding on a nature the largest base stat is more often than not the one to boost, unless either the stat with the lower base requires a + nature to reach the right number, or it overshoots the required stat.

EDIT: Or for this set you'd probably want to use 128 hp, 100 def, 212 spA, 70 speed Bold, which gives 269 special attack and five more defense points.

Thanks for the help, I changed it to Bold with the EV spread you listed. Now Suicune has about a 97% chance of surviving +2 Adamant Outrage instead of an 85% chance =)

You posted a set that has already been made in a "new and creative" topic just doesn't make sense, gamefaqs is just where the set came from.

I doubt many people here keep up with every set that gets posted on gamefaqs.

I'd appreciate it if you'd give me constructive criticism on why my set "doesn't make sense" instead of telling me about how you copyrighted a set posted on gamefaqs over a month ago.

There is no problem with posting it, but credit should be given where it's due. And he posts on Faqs, and probably did see it there in the first place. He even made a topic about this set, where people told him he copied the moveset.

The set doesn't, and never will work with stealth rock and sand being so common.

Also, don't call if your set when you didn't make it. Posting it's fine, calling it yours isn't.

I don't even know you, so why should I give you credit for a set I created in my own time.

I'm not denying that you made a set like mine, but what difference does it make if I give a member with 7 posts credit or not.

Also, I'm aware that stealth rock and sand give this trouble, there really isn't anything I can do about it. Suicune only has so many EVs to work with. It just isn't possible for it to be able to retain it's ability to OHKO chomp, outspeed it, and survive +2 adamant outrage PLUS SR damage.

I know it isn't possible. That's why the set is never going to be usable.

So fucking what? Look at the last post I ever made on the D/P forum, it was a long fucking time ago, so how could I have known you made that set, too.

So... you didn't make the set. And on gamefaqs I can't check when your last post was, or where it was. The site just lacks nice features like that.

Yes, I remember Bosgoed posting a set similar/exactly like that on Gamefaqs. I lurk there a lot since I got banned and came across the set a month ago or something like that.

I don't quite understand why you think arguing with me is going to benefit you in any shape or form. Nothing is going to change, get over yourself. It's a fucking video game.

I'm not arguing, just pointing out you aren't the first to make it. Ideas being stolen is never a good thing. But, leaving, etc. I don't want to start a flame war on a forum I don't regularly post on.

I'm sorry if I was a bit harsh and overreacted in my other posts, however, putting a choice scarf on something isn't a new idea. Having EVs that allow it survive Garchomp, outrun Garchomp, and kill Garchomp is only common sense when making a moveset like that.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jumpman wasn't the first to create a specsmence moveset but I doubt he purposely or knowingly copied anyone.
