Um..
Yeah. I just found a huge hole in my team. Not a type weakness, but a Pokemon: this newfangled Bullet PAWNCH Scizor.
Question in case you don't want to read the below: What are good counters for this new Scizor?
I could see Bullet Punch being ran with Pursuit. Those moves screw over a bunch of my Pokemon. My only priority move is Ice Shard, coming from you-know-who, Weavile. Sciz will just merely Bullet Punch afterwards and IMO it should be an OHKO..
Pursuit OR Bullet Punch will get my Gengar.
And then there goes most of the rest of my team. The only Pokemon I have that can stand up to it is my Bronzong (pseudo-lead so it's kinda null), and Gliscor, but I don't know how sturdy Gliscor's going to be. It's the Jolly variant.
Offensively, I can't do much against Scizor. My team has always been a work in progress, so I'm still thinking about swapping stuff in and out. I needed another wall of some sort.
I have a Roserade (no HP Fire so can't do jack-squat to Scizor) which I was thinking about swapping for a Calm Mind Slowbro to keep a Special Attacker on my team and some of the coverage, but seeing as that will not fix my newfound problem if Scizor is carrying X-Scissor...
My other Pokemon is Staraptor, but since it's sorta frail and takes recoil, it won't last for long especially if it takes a Bullet Punch before it attacks...
I'm not sure which Pokemon I need, and I really don't want to turn this into a RMT. In fact I like keeping my team a secret but I'm just too afraid Scizor will plow through most of my team and then I'm left with hardly anything to take on my opponent.
I was thinking Weezing, but then I haven't got hardly any Special Defensive Pokemon...
I think I just had an idea.
I actually have a Magnezone... but then I might get drilled by Brick Break. =\
I'm going to use my Magnezone in place of my Roserade for now.
The reason why I asked this here is because the analysis page for Scizor hasn't been upgraded with counters for the new set yet, and we may not have clearer counters until later.
But seeing as my team just isn't fitting to take on this Pokemon much, I'm sorta worried now.
The new Bullet Punch Scizor is a major pain for everyone's teams, and should be considered pretty high up on the threat list when making or adjusting a team. From what I've heard of your team so far, it seems fast and fragile (Gengar, Weavile, Staraptor...).
Scizor eats these pokemon for breakfast. Beating fast frail foes is what a Technician Bullet Punch does best.
I would suggest adding some decent bulk to your team. It doesn't have to be many pokemon, just enough to fall back on in case Scizor gets a Swords Dance against your team. Scizor does to full on offensive teams what Deoxys-E used to do to them not so long ago, i.e. completely nullify them by outspeeding and killing frail pokes.
Scizor can be tanked quite easily with pokes like Zapdos and Heatran. Zapdos resists all of its common moves (Bullet Punch, BB/Superpower, X-Scissor/U-Turn), and can OHKO it back with Heatwave, or 2HKO with Thunderbolt. Heatwave is a guaranteed OHKO no matter what.
Heatran can be an effective counter if it can switch in on anything but a fighting move. It x4 resists both of Scizor's STAB moves and can easily toast it with a Flamethrower.
Swampert, and bulky waters in general, are also really good at taking hits from Scizor's Bullet Punches. With a bit of SpA investment, you can EV a Swampert to always do more thatn 50% damage with SUrf/Earth Power, so that Scizor cannot just Roost off the damage.
By happy coincidence, the first two pokes I named also make great switch ins to the new threat of Skymin. Zapdos resists Air Slash and Seed Flare, is immune to Earth Power, but needs to watch out for HP Ice. Likewise, Heatran must be wary of Earth Power, but resists everything else.
Needless to say, Swampert isn't quite as effective a Skymin counter... =p
Hope I helped.
