What's up with the Smogon server? It's never there anymore and the official always says 150/100 no matter what time of day it is.
Click on Advanced on the servers list, you can get to it that way. (go to the Shoddy section of the main Smogon site)
Colin's probably deleted all the servers except the Official one from the main list again.

edit: beaten.

But the host name is 'smogon.com' and the port is 50000.

Colin probably got tired of only having 15-20 people that he can treat like shit.

Ideal special walling EV spread for Regice

I'm currently using a Regice on my main team for the purpose of special walling. Current build is as follows:

Regice @ Leftovers
Calm
EVs: 254 Sp.Def, 128 HP, 128 Def

-Ice Beam
-Charge Beam
-Amnesia
-Rest

Forgive me if I've missed out any important details.

Basically, I wanted to know an ideal EV spread for a calm regice that improves its ability to be a special wall while still being able to take a hit, physical wise. I understand that the more you invest into a defense stat, the less effective it becomes, so dropping max EVs into Sp.D and splitting the rest between HP and Defense may not be the best idea.

What I want (I think) is Max HP and then split the others between Sp. Def and Defense, but I don't know a magic number that I'd want in order to effectively maximise my Sp. Def while still being able to take the occasional well powered physical attack when at high or at full HP. Barring the likes of STAB'd close combat and stone edges, of course.

Unless of course the best option is simply to max HP and Sp.D, and I'm just underestimating regice's defense, but again, I want to know if there's any magic numbers I want to hit for a special walling regice.

And yes, I know there's an article on regice, but none of that gives suggestions for one that is highly specialised in taking special attacks, nor does it give an ideal EV investment for Sp.D.

Is it possible to use the Union Room / Local battles to have your own guys set to level 50 / 100 for IV checking purposes? I have a WPA2 code on my computer and can't get my DS to connect using the USB connector, so Wi-Fi is out of the question for now.

I don't think so unless you want to take it to PBR.

And by that I assume you mean the computer my friend has been letting me use to run the metaserver stopping working, right? (As in, it doesn't turn on it anymore.) It's midterms now so give him a chance to set up another computer.

I don't know where you idiots come up with this shit.

By the way, it specifically says how to get to smogon in the official server welcome message, and it has since the metaserver computer died.

Gengar is also immune to EQ which it is equal to Skymin in that area.

But like MetaNite says, there isn't a "best" one. You can make it the best though, if you can wrap good teammates around it. :)

The way I did it was just pick one of your favorite Pokemon out of the bunch and then pick a good one to go with it, and just experience it. Win some, lose some. See what works, see what doesn't. And then fix it and see if it made it for better or for worse.

Well Gengar has always been one of my favorite Pokemon due to the coolness factor, and i generally dislike all Diamond/Pearl pokemon except for a select few because I feel Nintendo went overboard in creating 500 pokemon

anyways, Gengar just doesnt have enough power with Shadow Balls and no Life Orb, but he does prove to be useful in the psuedo boltbeam combo, also his Ground immune helps out Heatran

but on a whole, does Skymin do more damage with Seed Flare/Air Slash, because they dont really hit alot for supereffective, or Gengar with Shadow Ball/Focus Blast which has a wide range of type coverage?

The reason Gengar is usable over skymin, for me at least, is explosion. If you sleep something, kill something with shadow ball/focus blast, then explode on something, that is potentially a 3-1 deal.

Also, no sr weak, no ice shard weak (which does matter sometimes, even with gengar's low defenses) and much better switch-ins with normal and fighting immunes.

@ Metroid: Don't run amnesia on a special wall. Once someone sees regice, they aren't keeping their special sweeper in there, and that amnesia will go to waste. You are probably better off with a resttalk moveset, or maybe even curse with avalanche and um...thunderpunch? In general, either have rest and sleep talk or don't bother, their close combat pokemon will just switch in otherwise... You could just abandon rest altogether and run something like ice beam, charge beam, thunder wave and toxic to hit most switchins with something they won't like.

Are Platinum moves acceptable on Wi-Fi? Also, if they are, could someone please link me to a post/thread detailing changes from D/P to Platinum?

Thanks,
Fatality

Is it posiable to migrate a porygon from LG/FR with Tri attack and have it carry on through breeding? I tried with a ditto and Tri attack didnt pass on...

Hey, does Meowth's Technician turn into Persian's Technician upon evolution or does Pick-up? I saw in someone's thread that Pick-up turned into Technician and i got confused.

You should mention which pokemon is going to have that moveset, you know, to make your question clearer.

So, anyway, I used Serebii's moveset searcher and found that only Corsola and Smeargle can have that moveset, so I'm assuming you want your Corsola to have that moveset. In this case, definitely 252 HP, and the rest of the EVs probably a split between the defenses, since putting EVs into Sp. A wouldn't help much anyway. In fact, using Water Pulse or Ancient Power over Surf wouldn't be too bad either as those at least have possible secondary effects that are beneficial. Toxic would also be ok, and actually might be the option that does the most damage (other than mirror coat).

Why are their no official movesets posted on the strategy pokedex for all of the NFE pokemon? And would it be ok if I created some movesets for them and have them posted on the strategy pokedex?

I'm pretty sure it's because there's like 200 of them, and that would take like... forever. What would be the point? You basically use the same set as the fully evolved ones, and if they are different then they probably already have an analysis page. (vigoroth, trapinch, scyther)

Well it doesn't hurt to try right? And anyway what's the point of including their list on the tier list if no one even puts any movesets for them?
