1st Step:
I checked the TOP 35 of UU Leads and added 1 point to the Pokémon if one of the moves from the "common moveset" of one of these 35 Pokémon would hit the Pokemon for SE damage. 2 points it was was 4x effective. -1 if it was immune. Pokémon with over 10 points got removed.

Camerupt: 8
Rotom: -14
Drapion: 9
Noctowl: 2
Mantine: 3
Banette: -4
Blastoise: 8
Castform: 4
Froslass: 9
Hitmonchan/top/lee: 5
Lanturn: 8
Sableye : -19
Weezing: -7

2nd Step:
Take out all Dark-weak Pokémon, as I dont want to be trapped in the very first round. Rotom and Banette stay as it can WoW the Dark-type Pokemon

Camerupt: Water² Ground 8
Rotom: Ghost Dark -14
Drapion: Ground 9
Noctowl: Electric Ice Rock 2
Mantine: Electric² Rock 3
Banette: Ghost Dark -4
Blastoise: Grass Electric 8
Castform: Fighting 0 1 2 3 4
Hitmonchan/top/lee Psychic Flying 5
Lanturn: Ground Grass 8
Sableye : -19
Weezing: Psychic -7

3rd Step:
As I dont want to have a suiciding lead, take out all Pokémon weak to SR ( I am not intending to use Rapid Spin btw)

Camerupt: Water² Ground 8
Rotom: Ghost Dark -14
Drapion: Ground 9
Banette: Ghost Dark -4
Blastoise: Grass Electric 8
Castform: Fighting 0 1 2 3 4
Hitmonchan/top/lee Psychic Flying 5
Lanturn: Ground Grass 8
Sableye : -19
Weezing: Psychic -7

4th Step:
Take out all non-bulky Pokémon, since I want to have mine be bulky enough =)

Rotom ( can set up screen effectively or run the STalker )
Camerupt ( stays cuz of Solid Rock, reducing the damage it takes )
Drapion ( can be used nicely defensively )
Banette ( isnt really that bulky imo, so its removed ) --- > OUT !
Blastoise ( good overall defenses )
Castform: ( his stats arent good enough =( ) ---> OUT !
Hitmonchan/lee: ( gets outclassed by Hitmontop ) ---> OUT !
Hitmontop: ( stays thanks to Intimidate )
Lanturn: ( well, its pending but I gotta let him stay )
Sableye: ( too weak on the defensive side ) ---> OUT !
Weezing: ( OK defenses overall )

5th Step:
Take out all Pokémon not being able to support the team

Rotom ( can set up screen or wow/twave the opponent )
Camerupt ( can use SR / Yawn / Toxic / Burn with Lava Plume )
Drapion ( can set up TS, use Taunt / Knock Off )
Blastoise ( I already stated I dont want a Rapid Spinner, making only Yawn and/or Toxic viable ) ---> OUT !
Hitmontop ( see Blastoise ) ---> OUT !
Lanturn ( Confuse Ray and Twave are its only option, but theyre enough, as Paralysis is alot more reliable than sleep )
Weezing ( WoW and Haze are the only way of supporting; together with Pain Split, that leaves just one slot for an attack) ---> OUT!

6th Step:
Rotom
Camerupt
Drapion
Lanturn

Take out the Pokémon that can beat the less out of the Top 5 Leads

Rotom ( The Screener )
vs Electrode: Its common set just runs Thunder and it cant explode, I'd say that Rotom would win.
vs Froslass: Froslass is faster but mostly weaker on the defensive side, a bulky Rotom would win.
vs Primeape: TB does 52,4% on avarage, while Punishment does around 60 %. Rotom could win if Primeape would be Adamant I guess, but it loses otherwise
vs Claydol: With Light Screen Up, Rotom wins.
vs Drifblim: With Light Screen + Leftovers, Rotom wins. Otherwise it loses.
--> wins against 4 of the Pokémon on avarage.

Camerupt ( Support )
vs Electrode: Thunder is useless, while Earth Power OHKOs 92.31 of the time. Electrode would switch though.
vs Froslass: Lave Plume nearly OHKOs; Ice Beam on the other side isnt even a 3KO, Specs has a chance to 2KO though
vs Primeape: Lava Plume has a 80% chance to 2KO; with Solid Rock and the probability of burning the opponent, Camerupt will most likely win this.
vs Claydol: Earth Power wont do enough damage, just can use Exploud, while Lava Plume will easily wear it down
vs Drifblim: Camerupt should win this as nothing Drifblim will do ( unless it uses Hypnosis and Baton Passes ) will kill Camerupt. Hypnosis + some Shadow Balls will though.
--> wins against 4-5 of the Pokémon

Drapion ( Defensive one )
vs Electrode: Thunder would hurt, but EQ easily takes it out.
vs Froslass: again, its STAB could damage Drapion abit, but Night Slash / Crunch will take it out.
vs Primeape: Speed tie will maybe decide the outcome, but Primeapes EQs will hurt alot more than any of Drapions attacks ( except Aerial Ace ) will
vs Claydol: Night Slash/Crunch/Pursuit would beat Claydol, though Earth Power would hurt abit.
vs Drifblim: Night Slash again hits hard, while anything Driftblim uses to attack would take quiet a bit of the damage
--> wins against 4 of the Pokémon on avarage

Lanturn ( Special Sponge ):
vs Electrode: Absorbs Thunder and hits back with Surf.
vs Froslass: None of its attacks will hurt that much, while Lanturn hits back with Surf.
vs Primeape: EQ and CC do lots of damage to Lanturn; it would win after Surfing the -1 SpD Primeape though
vs Claydol: Earth Power will do abit, but Surf should hurt Claydol more, since its more based on physical defense.
vs Drifblim: Thunderbolt should easily take it out.
--> wins against 4 Pokémon
hmm, Camerupt stays, I decided whom to take out of these three, and I decided that Lanturn should go due to its less options of support moves.

7th Step:
Rotom -14
Camerupt 8
Drapion 9

I cant get any further here, so here I am asking, which lead should I use ?

My other team consits of
Noctowl ( 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe )
Gastrodon ( 212 HP / 252 Def / 44 SpA )
Probopass ( 252 HP / 168 SpD / 88 Spe )
Vileplume ( 244 HP / 136 Def / 128 SpD )
Walrein ( 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD )

Like u may have guessed, its a attempt at stalling with some poison, leech seed and entry hazards thrown around...

I hope u can help me with my "lead problem"

Rotom-C
Calm
252 HP/200 Sp Def/58 Def
-Discharge
-Leaf Storm
-Will o' Wisp
-Light Screen
Light Clay

Hey, so I was thinking of starting to build a team up for Platinum wifi for when it comes out in the US in my Diamond version. However this guy ^^^ that I've been testing on Shoddy can't be used, of course. Any suggestions for a similar annoyer/wall type thing?

Thanks...

Bronzong works well as a Dual Screener, Spiritomb is a good spin blocker.

lol. "up for Platinum wifi ... when it comes out in the US in my diamond version."

You know it's a whole who game right?

lol yes... lazy typing. I meant to say I'll be training the pokemon in my diamond version, to be transferred later. Does tomb learn WoW?

I think this is the right thread for this...

I'm trying to download shoddy on this comp and i hit download, open, and a window pops up about what program i want to open this file with. I have no idea where to go from here(sadly). Can anyone help me?(i run windows, but not vista if thats relevant at all)

nope, this comp just got wiped due a to certain little brother looking at some sites he shouldn't have been on... where can i find the java download?

Hi all, a few questions...

This being my first post in 2 1/2 month, I am a bit out of sync with what is going on, so can someone inform me on that? (I.E. Metagame changes, Platinum, etc) Also, does anyone have some breeding codes for Action Replay, I seem to have erased them accidentally during my hiatus. Help would be appreciated, thanks!

It's against the rules I believe to discuss AR codes, but it shouldn't be too difficult to Google them. For metagame changes.. That's not such a simple answer, I'm afraid. Your best bet would be to get some hands-on experience at Smogon's shoddybattle server. I'll try to see if I can find links to the Platinum tutor moves, which are the biggest changes impacting the metagame.

EDIT:

A link to the Tutor moves research thread.

Another link, the thread covers the tutor moves as well as the new pokemon forms.

looking for best of smogon battlers to join my battle frontier. see second post of my thread for more details. there is something in it for you. anyone want to join?

can the Ev reducing berries work when a pokemon already has the EV ribbon?
and I remember there being restrictions on how far they reduce... what were these restrictions?

Does Psych Up copy the effects of Imprision?

Ex: Dusknoir uses Imprison and know Protect, Trick Room and Fire Punch. Metagross uses Psych Up on Dusknoir and knows Protect, Earthquake and Bullet Punch. Dusknoir faints.

What, if anything, would be Imprisioned.

Hmm, just some quick questions involving breeding, eggs, etc.

1. If I save right before I take the egg from the Old Man, then hatch but don't like what I get, can I SR and be right at the Old Man with a "new" egg with different IVs, or will it be the same as the one I just hatched?
2. Would it be easier to do this, or just keep hatching until I get one I like?
3. When using Synchronize to find specific natures of Pokemon, is it always 100% that the Pokemon will have the same nature as your Sychronizer?

Thanks a lot!

It is possible to get a different egg every time if you SR in front of the old man: an eggs ivs and nature and determined when you recieve the egg.

2. Would it be easier to do this, or just keep hatching until I get one I like?
Easier to hatch more, it's quicker hatching 5 at a time instead of one.

3. When using Synchronize to find specific natures of Pokemon, is it always 100% that the Pokemon will have the same nature as your Sychronizer?
50% chance I believe.

Thanks a lot!

When breeding a pokemon with an everstone for nature, does it replace the nature from the IV, nature, ability, shinyness and gender set or does it skip to the first set of stats with the "correct" nature (assuming the everstone nature chance activates).

I know synchronise skips to the first "correct" set and am asking if everstone breeding works the same way.

And to do my part here's an answer to someone else's question:
can the Ev reducing berries work when a pokemon already has the EV ribbon?
and I remember there being restrictions on how far they reduce... what were these restrictions?
Yes, the berries work when they have the ribbon for max EVs, the ribbon disappears and you will need to speak to the woman when at full EVs to get it on the pokey again.
Each berry reduces the EVs in the corresponding stat by 10, or sets EVs in that stat to 100 if over 100.

uh...the nature is determined when the egg is MADE, the only thing that is "created" or "made" when you actually recieve it is the IVs

A simple question: Why is Arceus banned ?

Cuz its too strong for Uber ? Or cuz it didnt get released officially ?
