Final Fantasy 12 1 and 2 (spoilers contained)

I was deeply saddened when I saw there has never been a thread made for FF12. I enjoy the complexety of the game. They have a superior dialogue and a compeling, original story line. The focus on politics is so compelling to me. If you have any coments on the game, please post them here. I enjoy all things related to FF12, positive and negative. I find this game to be a basis of all the FF games after it. It displays the deep storyline all FF games should have, has some of the best graphics of its time, it also has compelling and interesting characters and a large range of spectacular and sublime land scapes awaiting exploration. What is not to like?

i voted ashe. she is hot. more than that, she had a pure goal, and the endurance needed to be a leader. she lost her husband(after about 3min of marriage) her father, and her kingdom. most of all, she always stuck to her dream of reclaiming her kingdom and never did the wrong thing to accomplish it.

In the last few days I have been getting annoyed that I have not yet finished this game. At some point during the time I was playing it I just lost interest. And yesterday instead of pulling this out I found myself playing 10 and even though I have finished that one I would rather start it again than play 12 at the moment.

What is the reason for this? I'm not quite sure. One thing that annoys me about these games is if you don't know about a one-shot item and then pass by its location and miss it, you are stuffed. The whole zodiac spear thing was just annoying me. Otherwise I'd have to say the story wasn't really that thrilling. It's been a while though since I played so I could be mistaken.

Ill probably play this again one day in the future but for now its gathering dust in my cupboard, sorry.

well, i dont remember the last time i played it either. i got most of the best items, got to omega and yiazmat(not beat them)and reached the second level going downward in the pharos light house. i have achieved all things actually possible. i enjoyed the game, but it is a one time thing were you just go for the ride. now i just play the number two. the first one just has no replay value, but i found it so perfect that i decided to make a contribution to its greatness.

I guess 12 is the most disappointing FF game ever? I think so, anyway.

The Gambit system had so much promise, but you could set your Gambits so that you'd never have to do anything in battle. Combined with the vast environments, numerous enemies, and various side-quests, the game just turned into one big grind.

I haven't beaten the game yet (I'm in Archades), but I don't feel like finishing it. It's just too damn long and boring.

BTW, why don't we have SPOILER tags in our vB code?

because i sent submit new pole too early and dont know how to edit it. and i am sorry, i will figure that out. and one of the reasons i love ff12 is because its one big grid. i enjoy tactics, planning, military, adventure, analysis, prediction, and all that kind of genre.

I do like to grind, though; don't get me wrong. It's just that here I felt forced to push the story along because it went so slow, mainly because I spent a lot of time on hunts. If grinding wasn't so necessary in this game, then it wouldn't be a problem, but hunts were the most effective way for gaining Gold and LP early on and they took too long, slowing the plot down. Grinding wasn't necessarily fun in this game, either.

I'll take Disgaea over this any day. It was fun to grind there. The story was funny as hell, too.

this is exactly how i feel about the game. i played for 100 hours, got to the final boss, used all of my quickenings on the sub-boss before him, and still managed to beat the final boss with absolutely no magic. if i had known it would be that easy i would never have invested that much time into the game.

the first few hours of it are amazing but you just dont feel like dealing with it after you have to start completing the objectives to move the storyline

Complete disappointment from start to finish. If I wanted to play an MMORPG I would've gotten one, I bought this expecting Final Fantasy and what I got was an online RPG ported to a console. The battle system was really fun but the gambit system took all the control out of it.

The story itself was boring and uninteresting. There was no main character, therefore there was no one to connect with. Vaan was boring, Ashe was annoying... I guess Balthier was the only "main" character worth getting behind, and even he was a bit too smug for my liking. Characters came and went and you really never had a chance to get too attached.

Add in the fact that there'd be 5 minutes of story followed by an hour of traveling and mindless battling, and it was just a bad game. I was completely detached and uncaring the entire time.

All that's been said itt is so true. And I thought I was the only one who didn't enjoy FF12... I stopped caring once I got to uhhh Mount Bur-Omisace I think, my attention span is small and the game was boring. Combine those two and this is what you get.

An RPG revolves around story and character development, and 12 had neither.

I'd be hard pressed to come up with an RPG with a shallower story. The 'main character', Vaan, had the unfortunate combination of being both unbearably annoying and completely unessential. If this was a story about Balthier and Fran, it would have been interesting. Vaan ruined it for me.

The endgame hunts were epic, though. They were the only part of the game I enjoyed.

Penelo was my favorite character, although I really don't know why. Balthier and Fran were of course awesome, too.

Remember to state when you are posting spoilers. I haven't played any Final Fantasy believe it or not but FFXII has most of my attention after FFVI (which I keep hearing is the best). I'm not a huge fan of random battles or turn based combat so this game looks really interesting >.>; I can see the complaints about being too MMO-like though.

Actually I guess I'm looking forward to FFXIII most. I'm such a graphics whore.

I choosed balthier, but, the truth is that the plot of FFXII was the worst plot of the FF history(yeah,i think the plot of X-2 is best than XII).
I played the game through getting 100% of completion every time, and as i played,i realized i didn't even new the history of each character!
When i played FFX(To name the other PS2 game, not to say PSX) i was very happy at the end...but in FFXII,i cant even say i enjoyed the game :|
