Encore Raichu is the perfect counter to the hordes of Curse Pokémon that plague G/S/C. The idea here is simple, switch in on something as it uses Curse and then use Encore. If they try to keep using Curse until their Encore wears off, then you can just use Charm to lower their Attack stat faster than they can raise it. It also helps stop Mean Look / Perish Song users, as you can just switch it in on the Mean Look and then use Encore to trap them in that move.

Hidden Power Water is a useful secondary attack to have as it can take care of Ground-types such as Rhydon or Donphan after an Encored Rest/Sleep Talk/Curse. Using Reflect or Light Screen is also an option to support the rest of your team, however both moves are fairly common on many other Pokémon, so use them only if you don't have screen coverage elsewhere. Thunderbolt is there for STAB and to clean up weakened Pokémon.

Attract is there to mess up the switch in. Seeing as the majority of Pokémon in G/S/C are male, it is fairly effective. Using Reflect or Light Screen is also an option to support the rest of your team. Thunderbolt is there for STAB and to clean up (remove 'against') weakened Pokémon.

Don't use "screwed over".

As far as I'm concerned (heres me not knowing much about the GSC metagame), Screens are always a better option over Attract. I'd like to see this set changed to "Support", with the inclusion of Toxic to hit an incoming Pokemon.

I'd like hp: water (can raichu surf in gsc?) to have a mention in the third slot over attract or light screen as it allows raichu to actually take care of stuff like rhydon and donphan if it can encore it cursing/resting/sleeptalking late game.

Fixed Grammar (thanks Epidemic) and I've added surf as an option in slot 3. It is perfectly legally obtainable via stadium IIRC. It's certainly in the netbattle database.

Although screens are fairly common in G/S/C so you may well find you have enough screen coverage with your other Pokémon. Toxic isn't really an option due to the commoness of rest and cleric moves. At least with attract it gives your counter an easier switch in.

You need to put spaces between your slashes... (Surf / Attract)

I'm not liking the major slashitis on this set, though. Take off a move, but mention it in the Set Comments.

Since you are switching out, doesn't Attract wear off on the switch, thus not making the switch any easier for your teammate?

as far as I'm aware, it keeps going as long as you switch to something of the same gender, so that would mean something with no physical moves. I'm tempted just to remnove it all together. 90% of the time you'd probably be better off with screens or HP Water. I've added a bit about foiling Mean loook/Perish song too.

Don't bump threads just to ask what is being done with it (I did not forget about this). We've had other priorities (namely platinum updating) as of late and that takes priority over GSC sets. I'm going to throw in a note about Surf + Encore being illegal.

I'll move this thread since Twash said he added it.
