CAP 6 CAP 6 - Art Submissions

Looks a bit more like a saturday morning cartoon supervillain than a pokemon (ignore the fact that pokemon is a saturday morning cartoon as well XD)

i also cant tell which way the head is facing

Seababoon works, though to be honest, I thought just doing a straight seamonkey was a very original idea and that I would have liked to have seen you explore it further.

nardd, that's actually an interesting bit of information. I'd work on the design aspect a little seeing as how it is now, it seems to be just a literal interpretation of an octopus carrying around weapons.

Okay, even though this doesn't really add much to the argument for my submission, this animation was a lot of fun to do and carried on for a bit longer than I'd intended.

haha cartoons that animation is classic :D

and yes I'm working on a better implementation that I think should pokemon it up a little bit after a few suggestions from another user.

BTW I really like your submission

Wow cartoons I love those animations, very spiffy. I like your thing a lot, but it sorta looks like a starfish to me haha

Yeah, I like the seamonkey idea a bit more too, but I recieved no feedback whatsoever so I thought maybe it was too cute; hence seababoon was born. I'll elaborate with the seamonkey and post up tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback and awesome animation, man.

my main complaint with the seamonkey was that he seemed a little too frail for what my understanding of CAP6 is supposed to be... so maybe some armor? I dunno it is a good idea though.

updated idea, changed shells to actual pokemon fossil shells and changed the colors around to accompany shellder better. I almost put kabutop's scythe in place of the shell, but I thought that might be a little overboard. What do you guys think?

Here's the design I plan to submit for this CAP. I call this guy "Scuba Wrestler"...

There are so many water pokemon in the game, it's difficult to come up with anything that hasn't been done before. So I got inspired to do a pokemon based on scuba diving. As I sketched various ideas, one of them was kinda bulky and the hands and feet looked like they could grapple well. That led to the design you see above. I hope you like it!

Oh dear, what on earth is it doing to poor Omanyte?
tentacle raep
I hope it won't be too emotionally scarred...

Hi, people!

Here is Atlantimon colored. It isn't blue! [Like others Water type: Krabby, Kingler, Psyduck, Politoed, Staryu, Octillery, Pink Shellos, Slowbro, etc]

Any comments?

This is my favorite so far, not to take anything away from the other awesome designs, but i just like the feel of this, it seems the most unique to me. The only thing I'd change is the tail doesn't seem to have a very organic wrap. Instead of wrapping it just make it stretched out and super long

Atyroki's second design looks great, the best of the three, although I'd remove the shell shield on the hand that holds the pad. The new face looks great.

Caladbolog's design... It's good, but I liked it a bit more when it was less bulky than the last design. Also, it still has something that I can't describe that it lacks to make it go from "good" to "great".

Cartoons! has an amazing design there... Definitely on par with Atyroki's after seeing the last still pose (the body slam one). Also, as always, the animations are super awesome. I'd keep the mask details as they are now.

Finally, Doug's design is pretty cool too, but like Caladbolog's, lacks in my opinion something to make it complete. Maybe the hands look too much like feet? I don't know, but there's something that just doesn't make "click" in me when I see it.

Caladbolog's looks brilliant. Personally, I'm not sure about the warpaint under the eyes, but other than that it's great.

Aragorn's pirate octopus is, however, my current favourite. I just think it's a fantastic idea and one that fits Water/Fighting very well. Can't wait to see it coloured.

Atyroki's uncolored design is my favorite of his. If that one doesn't get chosen (by Atyroki I mean), then the only thing I suggest is to get rid of the shoes/sandals and give it webbed feet...or more defined webbed feet if they already are.

Caladbolog's design is another top-notch design like he usually has submitted in the past. Maybe change the face paint a bit to look more natural. It looks a little...forced.

Cartoons! has a great design. Not that it matters, but I think it works better as a starfish than a squid based on the fact that the other 5 tentacles are missing. The animations are awesome too!

Doug's design is awesome. I think I'd agree with Time Mage that the hands and feet look a little too similar.

Aragornbird's pirate idea is marvelous. I can't wait to see which one you choose to color. My personal favorite would have an eye patch (or the idea of one).

Last but not least, I really like Cyzir's Sea Anemone; and I would love to see that one developed more and colored.

I can't decide which of them I like the best. Damn, this is going to be another tough vote when the time comes.

Chaoscrippler, I like the crown, ears and tail, but I think you could push the monkey aspect a little further in another direction as it's giving me some Monferno vibes at the moment. Monkeys have all sorts of crazy faces and body types, so you could probably look some pictures up for inspiration.

I actually rather like the Scuba monster, Doug. It's a simple, efficient design, with a body type that isn't a retread. The lower lip irks me a little as the shape of it suggests an anatomy I'm not used to seeing in Pokemon (that and it looks a little like Cartman). Perhaps you could try giving it the classic fish/seamonster cartoon lips?

OK this Pwns also where is Rev getting de-bandaged

The scuba wrestler is psychic to me with one eye.
I really like Hazmat's Lobster, I think is underrated, and Chaoscrippler too.

In the other hand, I think that Cartoons Luchador is a little bit overrated, I know that Cartoons can make it better.

This or the old one?

Edit: @Solstice: I don't get how that's a water type :S

I love the new head but 'no' to everything else I'm afraid. I think it looks too busy.
I think a design with the head of this design but with everything else of the old design would be kickass.

EDIT: It would look something like this (forgive me for my bad MSPaint-fu sensei)

Dang, I'll just wait til next CAP to try and make a design. meanwhile...

Atyroki, I have to start this out with saying your kappa design is superb. The second design seems more in place with Water/Fighting though.

Cartoons, your Luchasquid is awe inspiring, and proves that a pokemon doesn't have to be pure serious to beat down the opponent. I could see an easy Blooper reference in the shiny. To be honest, after seeing that animation. I have to feel bad for the little guy, thief on choice band and whatnot.

On second though, I'll post something later.

Thank God I was not too late to the party with this one. You guys have no idea how much of the drawing bug I have now. Sadly, my phone is having problems viewing any of the posted designs so far, so I'm kinda going at this in the dark, which isn't terrible when you think about it. My only problem is that my home computer lacks internet so I'll have to scramble to a library to post the finished designs. Regardless of all that, I already have a bunch of ideas to get down on paper and hopefully I'll be able to show in a few days. Also, is there anyhing in the rules about showing WiP sketches inthe form of phone pics?

Here is a rough sketch of an idea I may develop further:
It's based on the Siamese Fighting Fish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siamese_fighting_fish)
*pic*
The fins are meant to be curled up as fists.

I also had the same idea with the Siamese fighting fish. Probably not that strange though since Water/Fighting --> Fighting fish :/

Heres what I have so far. No colours yet though.

I also drew a pic with it just swimming which I may post tomorrow.
