In Emerald, through trading the 200 National Pokemon to it, can the Johto starters be obtained without having to travel past Oldale the third time (first and second pass being without the Pokedex).

I posted this question in the BT thread but have not yet gotten any answers, so I thought that maybe this place would be appropriate.

In the Battle Tower, when you send out a level 1 Pokémon, will the opponent attack, or have a chance to go with a status move/weather move/something else like that?

Edit: .05K lol.

I'm looking for a link to any good weather based teams. Hail, Sandstorm, Sunny, Rain, any. OU or UU please. PM me the link(s).

Substitutes take less HP to create, and you restore more % HP from Leech this way, so you can actually Substitute for longer than if you had more HP.

I see, so for a jumpluff, would 0 be best or is there a particular low # thats the best?

EDIT: And the life leeched from leech seed is dependent on the foe's max hp, and not yours?

You should probably aim for the IV that creates the lowest number that is divisible by 4 + 1. And yes, life leeched from leech seed depends on the foe's max HP.

Ok so here's my question, I know that it is impossible to soft-reset the XD birds without whatever... but is it possible to do a sort of speed check thing, you know like how you attack one of the birds and if they go first then that means they have a 28+ Speed? There's also the Endeavor trick to check what their HP IV is. Because you can just soft-reset before the battle's over right? Will it work?
Yes.

But you'll still have no idea if the pokemon is hasty/timid/naive or it you've got a 0/0/0/0/0/31 timid zapdos.

Anyone know where the ravaged path is?

So since jumpluff's min hp with 31 IVs is 291, I should go for 261?
No. You should just have 31 HP IVs if you can.

People are mis-understanding this. HP is not BAD for any pokemon to have, regardless of having the move leech seed or not. It's just that leech seed will regain a higher PERCENTAGE of your pokemon's health because HP is so low, since the amount of HP leeched depends on opponent's HP. This means, regardless of what your jumpluff's HP is, leech seed will still leech the same amount of HP from your opponent. So, when we say we shouldn't invest EVs into HP, we're really saying, it's just BETTER to invest EVs into Def/Sp. Def instead of HP, because it's more beneficial to be able to afford taking more hits (while recovering HP from leech seed) rather than having more HP but not being able to take any hits (while recovering the same amount of HP from leech seed).

@Chinese Dood, I said the same thing months ago but I was told by a more experienced battler that the lower HP is infact good to use. If you have 31 HP you wouldn't be able to sub as many times. That's what he told me anyways when I said 31 HP was ideal. lol I think we need a article on subseeding.

Oh... actually yah, that does make sense. If it's just for leech seeding, then yah, no problem with more HP, but for sub-seeding, lower HP does make it better since you regain a higher % of health back. My bad :(.
