Hi Haunterfan, confirming that such a guy exists. I might be able to check each 'potential level' later, but later is around 6-7 hours from now.

I just got to testing this and here's a very rough, very preliminary list of results. The guy in the Battle frontier tells you three things in your pokemon's IVs: overall average, highest stat, and the value of the highest stat. I only tested this using a very limited pool of pokemon so take this with a grain of salt. But more or less, this is the list of things that he will say:

If the average of IVs is ~30 he'll say the pokemon has outstanding potential
average is ~25, relatively superior potential
average is ~20, above average potential
average is ~15 or below, decent potential

He'll also say which stat has the highest IV. If the pokemon has multiple stats of that value, he'll say one of those stats in random

If the value of the highest stat = 31, he says "it can't be better in that regard"
value of highest stat = ~30, "fantastic in that regard"
value of highest stat = ~20-25, "very good..."
value of highest stat = ~15 and below, "rather decent..."

More research needs to go into this for more accurate data, though.

whats all that about the alternate formes of shaymin etc dont work on wifi or something? i didnt follow the plat news really >_>

New formes (Rotom-A, Shaymin-S, Giratina-O) do not work over wifi.

They will work on a local connection between two Platinum versions though

On pokemon Platinum, Tentacruel, I am trying to breed her to get rapid spin, but what if she has Clear Body ability, will it be pass down too or random with Liquid ooze? BTW What pokemon does Tentacruel breed w/ to get rapid spin?

For item Share experience, if I'm battling Starly (1 atk ev) w/ different pokemon, will my pokemon w/ share experience gain that 1 atk ev?

If the mother has nature of Adamant, will it be pass down or random no matter what?

Thanks in advance.

Any Tentacool will still have a 50% chance of having each nature, regardless of its parents' natures.

Also, you have to breed a male Blastoise with Rapid Spin with a female Kabutops and get a male Kabuto with Rapid Spin, which you then breed with a female Tentacruel to get a Tentacool with Rapid Spin (any Pokemon in the evolutionary line will work, I just stated names, e.g.: Squirtle, Wartortle, Blastoise, etc.).
There's no Pokemon that learn Rapid Spin by level up that can breed directly with Tentacruel.

Starly gives 1 Speed EV, btw. The Pokemon fighting Starly will gain 1 Speed EV, and the Pokemon holding the Exp. Share will also gain 1 speed EV.

Females holding an Everstone have a 50% chance of passing down their natures to their offspring.

Pearl to Platinum transfer over GTS with 1 DSLite?

Is it possible to transfer pokemon using the GTS from say Pearl to Platinum using each cartridge and only 1 DS Lite?!?!?!

I've tried a little before by offering a lvl 4 male Starly and asking for a turtwig on my Platinum (I just started) and then looking for my Platinum character through the GTS on my Pearl, but I never seem to find myself. Even when it shows 5 matches!!!!!

Do I just need to maybe offer rarer pokemon on Platinum so I will be easier to find, or is this not possible. I REALLY hope it is possible!!!!!

Two quick questions:

1. If a Pokemon has all the EVs it needs, can you Rare Candy level it to 100 without it being weaker than a regularly-trained Pokemon?

2. Where can I find a Life Orb in Platinum? Diamond? And where can I find the Platinum Orb that makes Giratina stay in its Origin Forme?

I'm pretty sure they can still be hazed. The example was just to get the basic gist of how Mist works, not say their mechanics are practically identical.

I see, thank you.

1. Absolutely.

2. Life Orb is found in Stark Mountain (not to be confused with this forum) in Diamond, and I believe it is the same for Platinum. As for the Platinum Orb, if memory serves me right, it is found in the Torn World. I could be wrong about the last one.

I usually battle ubers but since there arent that many people who play it I'm trying to make a team for standard. My teams don't work well though so I was wondering if there was anybody who could help me with team building. I have tried to get into apprentice but new rounds always seem to be posted at midnight so I am unable to participate. You can PM me if you see it later or for whatever reason.

1. Dr. Eyepatch answered correctly, it won't affect it's maximum stats at 100.

2. Yes, Life Orb is found lying around Stark Mountain (outside, not the interior). The Griseous Orb (Platinum Orb) is found in the Torn World accessed from a portal at the end of Turnback Cave.

I suppose you could possibly ask around Shoddy to see if anyone is willing to donate their time (I would help you myself if I was more than halfway decent). Otherwise, I am afraid the apprentice program is your best bet.

Reading warstories, watching battles, reading about teams... basically researching and lurking are also recommended.

You could always try to devise a team around a central strategy, test it out, make some tweaks, and try to cover all your bases/weaknesses/necessities, then post your tested team in the Competitive Team forum for additional advice and help.

Awesome, thank you. Oneee last thing, where do I find a move tutor and do I need to give them an item to teach my Pokemon a move?

In Platinum, I believe the move tutors are found in the Battle Frontier. They are reuseable and require Battle Points for each use.

Hikers living in a house in the marshy route West of Pastoria, one up in Snowpoint, and one East of Survival Area (requires Rock Climb). On the back wall on the inside of each house is a list of moves they tutor and the number of shards each require. It's usually different colors that add up to 8, like 4 yellow shards and 4 blue shards, for example.

Battle Frontier only sells TMs, you're thinking of the Battle Frontier in Emerald.

Why did the average Blissey go from being Bold to Calm?

Even Blissey needs investment to go "lol specs." Bold gives your defense a whole 11 points too, which is relatively meh, especially at the cost of risking a special attack breaking THE special wall.

so is Latios Uber or OU?

Uber
