Making Empoleon sweep....my first RMT

Hi! I'm not new to competitive battling, but this is my first RMT here at this forum, and I could use a little help to make it very good :)

As said in the title, the objective of this team is to make a good Empoleon sweep.

The team in preview:

GUNSnROSES @Focus Sash
Hasty
[Pressure]
EV's: 252 atk, 252 speed, 6 hp
IV's: 0 def

Ice Punch
Fake Out
Taunt
Counter

My lead. The anti lead set works miracles if facing someone that doesn't know how to battle it properly. First Fake Out to eliminate sashes, and then Ice punch them into oblivion. If the lead is a slower one, like bronzong or metagross, the lead is taunted and then forced to attack, making a succesful OHKO with counter from a 1 hp poke.

Vlad Tepes @Leftovers
Impish
[Sand Veil]
EV's: 252 atk, 220 speed, 38 hp

Earthquake
Stone Edge
Rock Polish
Baton Pass

This pokemon is an excellent option when playing alongside Empoleon, as they work covering all the weaknesses they face, so I can lure a water or ice attack to switch to Empoleon and start seting up. The speed EV's are for outspeeding standard Luke and everything that Ev's for that. Empoleon also works great when getting a +2 speed so it won't waste a turn using Agility. Other members of the team also greet a speed boost.

machamp.png

ErickMusic @Life Orb
Adamant
[Guts]
EV's: 252 atk, 62 speed, 196 hp

Cross Chop
Payback
Rest
Sleep Talk

Named after my music teacher that used steroids xD
One of the biggest problems of Empoleon is that special walls such as Tha fat ones (Bliss, snor) block his sweep completely because they have a lot of special defense, but their physical defense is somewhat fragile, and Machamp excels hitting that way xD
It is also a status absorber.
I chose Guts over No Guard because it is asleep almost every moment in the match, so a 1.5x attack boost is always nice :D
Payback is for hitting the omnipresent Dusknoir, Starmie, Gengar and Cresselia.

latias.png

Latias @Choice Specs
Timid
[Levitate]
EV's: 252 spatk, 252 speed, 6 hp

Draco Meteor
Surf
Thunderbolt
Trick

Specstias is a beast. A very brute one. She outspeeds all Sally combinations (except the one that has already used DD in the match xD) and OHKO with Draco Meteor. Everything else is hurted a lot except Blissey and Snorlax. If Salamence and other Latias are dead when this beast enter, she can Trick the specs to a slow physical sweeper that resides in Life Orb or a wall (such as, again, Blissey xD). I'm not really sure if Surf has a place here, since Tentacruel and Empoleon already play with it...

tentacruel.png

Squidward (what an original name xD) @Black Sludge
Calm
[Liquid Ooze]
EV's: 252 hp, 200 spdef, 58 def

Surf
HP Elec
Toxic
Rapid Spin

A very good sp wall and spinner. I chose this pokemon as spinner because this pokemon absorbs the T-spikes. The reason I'm not using them? It is because they are spinned easily and I lack an anti-spinner (though I really don't have the need for a Ghost xD). Toxic hits Vaporeon effectively, and it assures that he can't be healed except for Aromatherapy or Heal Bell. HP Elec is for hitting other tenta, Vapo, and other bulky waters.

Empln King @Petaya Berry
Modest
[Torrent]
EV's: 252 spatk, 232 speed, 12 hp, 14 def

Surf
Grass Knot
Substitute
Agility

The soul of the entire team. My game i splanned so he can sweep the opponent without its threats around. I think you know how this sub petaya set works....Normally, he enters the game with a +2 speed boost from Gliscor.

I know this team is a bit lame, but it is giving good results in shoddy. I really would like some recomendations for Latias' moveset, though...

I don't have a threat list yet, but everything is pretty well covered.

Thank you for reading all of this complete, and please rate :)

Golden Empoleon

Just some nitpicks, Empoleons evset should be 12 HP / 252 SpA / 12 SpD / 232 Spe, and the moves should be surf, ice beam, sub, agility.

Maybe dragon pulse > thunderbolt, if he is your last guy, dragon pulse has much better coverage and STAB, as you dont want to be using draco meteor.

Gliscor seems rather useless on your team, its only role is to pass +2 speed to empoleon, who can use agility anyway. And btw, standard SDluke usually runs jolly, so >.<.

One other thing, toxic spikes have become somewhat useless unless in stall. It doesnt hit jirachi, metagross, heatran, skarm, etc etc, most of which are very popular, and many more levitate / flying are used now. Not sure what to change him to, maybe a stealth rock / spikes skarmory or something?

But overall, this team is quite nice, very good synergy.

One thingh I noticed is that your team lacks stealth rock. This is extremely important when empoleon is sweeping, as it means that every poke should have about at least 10% damage taken, this could easily mean the difference between win or lose. I suggest put it on gliscor, your team (besides empoleon) doesn't need speed to much, latias and weavile are already fast as hell, tentacreul and machamp are more of walls/bulky sweepers, and empoleon can use agility. Thats all for now.

My Tentacruel is not using Toxic spikes, it is using Toxic, LoL.

And my question was if to take out Surf, not Thunderbolt.

I corrected the thing about my Empoleon's EV's, it was a mis-typing xD
And I don't want Ice beam, surf already kills sally, so what?

Someone that can give me more advice?

The flying fuck is your Gliscor doing? o_O

We're going to remodel this slightly.

First off, we want Empoleon to sweep, therefore let's add in the residual damages. Tyranitar here would be great, and perhaps an even better starter, even if you still want to do that gay Counter shit. The thing is, Weavile just has to predict way too much to try to successfully pull that off, and would still lose to Heatran anyways. Well Tyranitar leads off, causes a lot of havoc and a Sandstorm.

Now, we can keep the Gliscor, but we're defensively tuning it. This team is probably goin to have a shit load of fighting weakness (I don't know yet, I'm doing this as I go along. It's fun, kind of winging it, although not necessarily advisable in all aspects of life, but when you just don't really have a mandatory way to do things, just wing it, and you know what else has wings? GLISCOR! LOL) Okay so Gliscor is going to add Stealth Rock, making more damages to Pokes.

Now Latias could help weaken shit for you, so we're going to keep that there, might help with Blissey etc.

Now, let's add some physical damage, to hurt shit about. Garchomp would be very useful here, but we can't use it because 'society' dictates that. Instead we'll use the 4th next best thing, Scizor. Scizor can just scout all day and what not. There's a reason that it's on one out of every few person's team. Now depending on what # you're thinking of, that can be A LOT OF USAGES.

So now we're stting at Tyranitar, Gliscor, Latias, Scizor and Empoleon. What are weak to. NOTHING BECAUSE IM AWESOME, but yeah just pick a random last poke and see how it turns out. I'll probably use something cool like Uxie (and because DDMence could get silly....)

This team is... different.

Hmm ever considered Roserade/Dugtrio/Empoleon. That is an amazing offensive combo which works to counter just about all of his counters and allows him to sweep. Toxic Spikes wears down Blissey for Dugtrio to trap and kill. Just replace Gliscor with Zapdos...lol. You need a Scizor counter. Sorry for the poop rate... can't think of much else to say.

Tentacruel resists BP and empoleon takes .25 from BP...

If a DDer(pretty much any) gets a DD. They will make your team fade to black like metallica.

Seriously you have no priority moves and no scarf users.

Oh yes I forgot that the standard Scizor doesn't carry Brick Break/Super Power and that Tentacruel has enough defense to take repeated Bullet Punches.

Thank you all for your rates, they might help later.

Aeroblacktyl, I'm interested in that crap you said earlier (xD) so I might walk with it. Just please tell me what would be a good movesets for the leadtar and the "new improved" Gliscor. I think a good moveset for Scizor would be U-turn, Brick break, SD, BP...

Can you please re-post?
