I heard somewhere that when you soft reset for a good IV legendary, you can somewhat control what kinds of IVs it has by talking to it at the exact mini-second or the exact "frame." Is this true? If it is, is there anything similar when IV breeding?

Also, I've heard that the IVs of a Pokemon change each time it hatches. As in I save right before an egg is about to hatch and every time I hatch it it will have different IVs. Is this true?

Once you take the egg, the IV is determined. Before you take the egg from the man, the nature/gender/ability is already set, but IV's are not. So you can lock yourself onto a certain nature/gender, then just SR for the IV's.

It's because Lonely decreases Defense, and that kind of lessens the usefulness of Intimidate. Naive, on the other hand, hinders Special Defense and this helps Salamence retain his Defensiveness, thus allowing him to switch into strong physical attackers and take less damage than normal.

Thanks, but what is it specifically about Lonely that makes it worse then Naughty. Unless there is a surefire 3HKO turned into a 2HKO or 2HKO turned into a OHKO (after factoring intimidate) on a crucial pokemon that salamence should switch into, Lonely and Naughty should be a wash when it comes to covering other pokemon.

Yes, it is true. There are two separate threads about this argument: one about Emerald, and one about Platinum, though the latter is still a reserch thread.

There is no sure counter for Jirachi. If you can predict a trick, then switch to another choice pokemon or to a pokemon with the ability sticky hold (though they are rarely used in standard). I usually find the new rotom formes a decent switch into Jirachi because of their good defence, resistance to iron head and access to trick.

Correct. Nidoran-m only produces other nidoran-m eggs when breeding with ditto.
 
where can I look up, which pkm are in the battle factory ( this one, where u get 3 random pkm ).. is there any thread on smogon which shows which pkm can appear ?
 
Hi can anyone help who has the jap/import of platinum. I've been busy lately breeding and i never got round to getting darkrai in the game, i downloaded via wifi the members card needed last year but today i went to canalave city but the door to the locked inn wont unlock. anyone have any ideas i have national dex but i've only caught 41 pokes ( is it like in lf/fr when you needed 60 pokes). Can anyone help everyone as to why door wont unlock? thanks to anyone who replies

Did you pick up the Member's Card at a shop? If not, do that. There should be a guy that isn't usually there.

If you've done that, then I have no idea.
 
Well, I'm soft resetting Shaymins at the moment (I have 4 carts with the shaymin card on it).

I'm currently looking for Bold/Modest/Timid (shaymin analysis).

If I was looking for Shaymin-S, what nature would I be looking for?

Timid - 31/x/25+/31/25+/31

A lot of offensive teams rely on Salamence to switch into physical attackers such as Lucario and Scizor so it makes sense to preserve his physical defence. On the other hand Salamence seldom switches into special attackers as quite a lot of them carry Ice attacks.

Another selling point (especially on DDMence) is the extra protection against priority attacks - many opponents will try to throw Bullet Punches and Extremespeeds at your dragon so it can often come in useful.
