Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

When using Metalkid's, you need to level it up a bit with Rare Candies, recording the stats each level, to make it worth using (with a single level, all calculators have the same accuracy. Metalkid's just lets you input multiple levels to narrow down the IVs wuicker).

Very interested in learning more about this.
I don't know the method you'd use to do this, I just know it's possible. Someone would probably have to write a program to reverse the shiny formula to go from PID and ID to SID, or there may be a way to do it by hand. I haven't really taken a look at it, but I recall that X-Act's article on PID creation (accessible from the main page > articles) contains the formula. You will still need RNGReporter or X-Act's applet or Pokesav in order to input the IVs/nature of something you catch and get the proper PID.

EDIT: Apparently, X-Act's guide on how shinies are calculated never actually made it on-site. It can be found here.

dang. I guess I'll have to make sure I have a set of paretns for every usable nature. still want to know about the second question. thanks for answering
The nature of the parents has no bearing on what you'll get; the nature outputted by RNGReporter along with your shiny spread is the one you will get. Using an Everstone will not change this, rather it will more than likely cause you to overshoot the target frame.

I used a caught shiny to find my Platinum secret ID. Here's how to do it.

Once you've caught a shiny, you'll want to find its nature and IVs and plug them into X-Act's applet. You'll want a Method 1 ID that matches the gender/ability of your shiny. (If you're unfortunate enough to get more than one viable ID, you're going to have to test one of them and hope it's the right one)

Take that ID and load up Emloop. Click the button on the right that has "ID" among the Japanese characters. Put your visible ID in the ID field and the PID you got from X-Act's applet in the field below it and press the left button below that.

You'll get 8 different secret IDs that are equally viable for getting shinies (There are 65536 ID combos, but shinies are 1/8192, 63356/8192 = 8).

I've used the ID from a wild-caught shiny Bronzor to at least be able to spit out a shiny Skorupi on demand.

I want to hatch a Japanese ditto. So does a ditto hatched from a Japanese Platinum with the english patch still qualify as Japanese?

If it is the jap rom with the patch where most of it is english, it should still be japenses because the person just put text over the words. I'm not sure but trade one and check its nationality.

@ Syberia -- Thanks for the link that is very helpful. One thing that is puzzling, though, is that the PID correction algorithm looks like it would scramble the nature. So I wonder how synchers effect this whole process. Would like to find out before I start writing chained IV to PID calculator.

Not yet, no. I am finishing up the thing for eggs and then probably adding an SID finder before next release and then I will start on that.

Its nationality will still be Japanese; its name will just be in English.

Any of those 8 possible SIDs will produce the exact same shinies, correct?

Can't you just use a chained shiny?
I have some people asking me how to find their SID and they don't have wifi, so...
You would have to reverse the chain shiny formula to calculate a PID from its IVs and nature. The only program I know that contains a reverse implementation of the formula is SCV's PID generator, but it requires knowing your SID beforehand to work. Sorry, it looks like you're out of luck on that :(

Looking at it, I am not sure that it is possible deduce a SID from a chained shiny at all. Well, I say that, but I think it could possibly be deduced from a large number (at least) 10+ IV/Natures from chained Pokemon. I'm still thinking about it, though. I'd be really great if there were an easy way to get this one.

Guys, to keep us all within the site rules I would appreciate it if the public requests for codes and acknowledgments for sending them could stop. It's also terribly spammy and makes it hard to get to the research information which is still flowing in.

I just got my first platinum flawless shiny

31/31/31/x/31/31 Impish w/ ice-shard

I locked a shiny egg and then manipulated the NRNG to get perfct ivs. Unlike the pid manipulation it's quite hard to accomplish. It took me 3 days to master the procedure but then this came out. I bred Donphan because it was my first competitive bred-pokemon in DP back then.
Explanation on how to do this will come soon so please don't spam asking

Congrats. Good job on finding out how to manipulate the breeding.

Awesome, I just scored a shiny Piplup with this.

Question: After you catch a Pokemon, put it in the calculator, breed, and get your shiny, can you do it all again without restarting your game?

I only ask this because when using an Action Replay, if you soft reset the code doesnt work anymore (IV check code) so I have to go through the unload and load Action Replay/codes procedure every time.
