I believe the pokémon you are trying to train will gain the EV's no matter who holds EXP Share. If so, then yes, another pokémon should hold it while the pokémon intended for EV training holds the appropriate "Power" item.

But 20SpA isn;t enough...can I use 252Atk/66SpA/192Spe? There isn;t any point even saying in against Heatran considering most are Scarfed...

20 sp.atk EVs are enough to 2hko Skarmory and Hippowdon, and not every Heatran is scarfed, so unless you need more sp.atk to score some important ko's, I'd suggest to use the standard EV spread.

Sorry to ask again but...

Thanks for the advice earlier about the max happiness level...

... but I thought that was the "trick" to getting the move tutor to teach the elemental hyperbeams to a starter.

What is the trick to learning the elemental hyperbeams? What am I doing wrong? My Typhlosion has 2 big hearts?!?!

Thanks a Mil!

The last thing of interest is the elemental hyper beam tuitor in a house on
this route. You can find him after the grass by going to the upper right
and you will find it. The man inside will teach Blast Burn, Frenzy Plant,
and Hydro Cannon to your starter's final evolution from each of the
generations (Such as Venusaur, Feraligatr, Swampert, Torterra, and the
rest). However, the starter must have max happiness before you can do that.

I would just run around with the Soothe Bell on them for like 5 minutes.

I am playing through platinum, and have hit a bit of a snag, that i can't remember how to get through.

i got to vellstone city, and went up to the gym(fighting one) and my rival comes out and talks forever(i stupidly didn't read it, and just pressed a through it thinking it wasn't really important) and now i have no clue what to do, when i enter the gym, i can't fight anyone, and the gym is like blocked off by weights and punching bags.

i went on to pastoria, or whatever it is, where the great marsh is, and can't challenge that gym leader either

so i'm kinda freaking out, because i don't remember this happening in d/p

i looked at my d/p strategy guide, and it says that i should just be able to challenge the fighting lady, then the water dude, then chase the grunt, get the kay and do the galactic thing, but right now i can't challenge the fighting lady,

can someone please help me? i am kinda freaking out as i can do pretty much nothing, and i have no platinum guide book.

Is an event pokemon considered hacked if I use an AR to give myself the event item and then catch it myself, without actually going to the event?

Well, that would be considered hacked but the problem with hacking is proving its hacked
If you was to use a AR to catch a flower paradise shaymin on a english pt/d/p game then yes, that would be a hack

Exactly what you do

Uh...I'll ask again. I'm just curious where you read this information. I wasn't denying you in any way, I was just stating what I knew at the time.

Follow these steps and you'll be able to get rotoms new formes on a english platinum
1. Get a japanese platinum that has the secret key in it, according to most sites, it dosen't matter what country your in, as long as you have the japanese platinum, you can get the secret key mystery gift
2. Get your english platinum and choose "mystery gift" in the main menu
Choose "get from friend" and then do this
3. Usin the japanese platinum, select "wonder cards" and then "send to friend"
Follow what to do on the japanese screen and after that, you'll have the secret key wonder card on your english platinum
To get the key, get it from the man in green in any pokemart
If you need a detailed guide on this, go to youtube and input "How to get secret key on english platinum" on the youtube search
Thats all their is to it
Hope this helps

Ice Shard or Ice Punch for SD Weavile? Weavile is really dast already, and the likes of Hippo won't take much from Ice Shard, but priority is of more help against fragil, fast Pokemon such as Aerodactyl...

Not completely useless

those moves are next to worthless.

you will score more damage over two turns with another move.

The 2 turn moves are worthless on wifi but their is 2 ways to use them without a downside
1. Use the "Shift" strategy in the game, you know, when your opponent sends out another poke and it says "Will so and so change pokemon?"
Sadly, you can't do this in wifi
2. Use them as a final attack in a match but to me, thats not really worth it
I suppose the 3rd 1 would be to combo it with hypnosis but thats also, not very tactical

I do like both ice punch but I think ice shard is better cause of so many dragons in the metagame

Can the L50 Heatran in Platinum be EV trained without levelling up above L50?

those moves are next to worthless.

you will score more damage over two turns with another move.

That's not relevant to his question. Besides, in 4v4 or 3v3 it could have uses as a finishing move.

Yes, by using the box trick; EV train it on low-level Pokemon to make sure not to level it up and then place it in a box. Close the PC, open it up again, withdraw Heatran, and it's stats will be recalculated, with the EVs factored in.

Well, apparently, you can ev train a pokemon without leveling up
you do this (this may be wrong as I have not tested it)

Lets say you wanted to ev train your heatran in speed
so you faint a load of magikarp until you have 255 ev's in speed
then you simply place it in the PC and according to trainers, the stats will go up to what the ev's put them to
According to people, this is the way to ev train the event level 100 regigigas

Darn, you beat me to it
but does this trick work?

...not on Level 100 Pokemon. To gain EVs, you have to be gaining experience. Since Level 100 Pokemon can't gain any more experience, they can't get EVs from training; the box trick won't change it. The only EVs Level 100 Pokemon can get are the 100 in each stat from vitamins; beyond that, they can't get anything.

major bummer

Yes, but...

Thats a major bummer, I sure wish that wasn't true
Although, I do have a event regigigas that has max atk so obviously, its hacked but it works just fine on the PBR wifi
Aern't non-legal pokes forbidden on the PBR wifi?

Thanks for the replies

Looks like Regigigas slips through. Probably alongside pokémon with full EVs but 0 experience for their catch level.
