Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Thanks for the help. Sounds like I just fail at counting then. I'm sure I have the right SID, got it from two sources. I think I'll give it one more try after my two midterms on Tuesday.

If it has >2000 taps (Or even >1000 imo) you should just reset and catch another Pokemon. It's easy to screw up counting, and it sucks when you've finally done all those taps and then find out afterward you messed up.

3 questions:
1. Do i need to extract all the files from RNG reporter?
2.Can i save on a patch of water? I don't have rare candies and using AR is not an option either so i'm just going to catch the magikarp at the resort area.
3.Say i catch a high level magikarp, if i go to the Hidden Power guy who says what type it'll be, will that affect anything? or can i just advance normally and go there without messing up the RNG?
Hello?

Hmm, is it just me or does Diamond and Pearl have a higher delay than Platinum?

Maybe it's just me, but when I first bought Platinum I noticed the start time difference immediately. In Pearl after pressing a button on the Palkia screen it takes a second to go to the menu. In Platinum after pressing a button on the Giratina screen it goes to the menu much faster, i.e. a shorter delay by about half a second.

Your settings might just be different. Iirc isn't there a way under the game's settings to mess with the talking speed of people?

EDIT: Speaking of which didn't someone post a link to an online timer you can use? Would someone mind linking me to that?

Anyone? I really thought I saw something like this in here.

If it doesn't say there is a problem assume that there is not. If you discover something new that messes things up then report it.

Emloop has a timer that people seem to like. The emerald thread links it, but I can't really give any advice on how to use it as I never actually have. Also, if you are trying to calibrate you're really only getting to the second so I would use your computers clock or any wristwatch with a seconds display/hand.

Personally I use a real (although cheap) stopwatch for resetting that I got at a sporting store when I need to time things.

@ All above seeing time differences in Plat / DP -- Interesting stuff. Makes sense they would be slightly different, too. Is a good case for why calibration phase is necesary.

I have had problems with trading shiny eggs. When they hatch in other peoples games, they are not shiny anymore. They appear as the animation as a shiny, but when you check its stats, it lost the red star and its normal...

When they hatch, they take on the ID and SID of the game they are traded to. If they are shiny on your ID/SID, they are not going to be shiny on anyone else's.

I now have an international ditto. I know that I use the international PID option when using the RNG Reporter and I get better chances to get a shiny. What I'm wondering is if my chances increase anymore if I use an international ditto and int. eevee?

Would my chances stay the same using two international pokemon as when I just use one international pokemon and my own or are the chances any better?

They will stay the same.
Also, when using 2 int. parents of the same region, 2 japanese parents on a US game for example, it doesn't count as international.

Using two international pokemon will actually hurt your chances if they are of the same 'nationality' Stick with one pokemon the same as the language of your game and one different.

EDIT: Beaten

That clears things up! I just got a shiny absol with the help of the international ditto. I might have tried with the Ditto and the eevee but they are from the same country and that wouldn't have worked as well. Thanks!

So I was reading that this will work if I have a non-chained Shiny. I have a Shiny Pidgeot from FireRed, transferred into my Diamond version. If it was transferred again to Platinum, would it work for the research?
