Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Hooray, classes are almost over so now I'm ready to start breeding some shinies.

Do AR codes like IV check and fast hatch work when trying to obtain shiny eggs? I tried the process with those codes on and could not hatch a shiny.

When IV abusing for legends, what needs to be on a journal page for it to count as a journal flip?

Should I go catch a pokemon and save before I do a reset, so I have a page to flip with? Does flipping forward or backward affect them different? When I flip TO a page is it counted, but not if I flip FROM a page?

I'm just a little confused, and want a break from this crap Tangrowth I've spent nearly a week on and can't hit my spread. -_-

Reposting from yesterday, anyone know the answer?

Yes.

Directly from the OP...

- Opening the Journal, or having it automatically open, when there is a caught Pokemon on the first page will advance the RNG by 2 seeds.

- Flipping to the page in the journal where a caught Pokemon is listed will advance the RNG by 2 seeds.

Yes.

Thank you. Also, is it normal when I right click a spread in the DPPt Time Finder, and choose Generate Times, to see thousands of results for the same Seed? Usually all in the same hour, but, many different ones on the same day for every day in the same year?

Ok, I don't think this question has been answered for me yet: I've found a seed and time for the IV spread: 30/30/30/10/31/31 (Adamant) according to Syberias' spreadsheet(physical), I need to press "A" at the continue screen at 4:56:59 am on 5/29 to get the seed 404028e with a delay of 645. My question is, do I just find out at which seconds to click "Start" on the AR code enhancer screen to have enough time to make it to the continue screen, and have enough of a delay to get 645?

i have a few questions about soft resetting ivs.

Will it work if your using an AR?

You don't need to find your initial seed right? Because it only lists it for callibration so that means if i find a spread i should be able to redo it if i fail right?

Im not getting any of the adjacent ivs and i would appreciate it if you took the time to answer my questions

Edit: this is for breeding if it matters

I've spent 2 hours on this and need help deciding.

I had a Japanese Shedinja with a ditto.
Shedinja x/x/x/x/x/x
Ditto x/31/x/x/x/31

I thought I might as well do an easy Shiny Hasty Shedinja.
A 1/17 chance of nincada having x/31/x/x/x/31

I've been hatching in Old Chateau for a while but this time I miscounted my steps while I was typing so I knew had no chance of making it to Eterna Forest even with 20 steps left.. so I aimed for Pastoria Marsh and was 1 step away before it hatched so it hatched in "Pastoria City".

Should I Reset it and try again for Old Chateau??

Here it is;

Hatched at Pastoria City
Preferred hatch location: Old Chateau

Yep.

If you're interested in knowing why check out the bits at the front of the OP about initial seeding. The long of the short is that you can hit a seed with a large number of target times.

Yes. And it's been answered many times and is explained in the OP.

Yes, you can try as many times as you would like. Change the time on your DS and try again. That's the whole idea, really.

If you're not getting anything on the adjacents list then collect and egg and get your initial seed to figure out how you messed up. Was the start time correct? Did you miss your delay? Etc.

I'm sorry I am not sure what, if anything, this has to do with DPPt research. It's not even asking a question about the research.

This is DMP, please post there, it is annoying seeing these here.

krabs - yes it works with AR, you have to hard reset, turn game off. You have to do things differently and your timing isn't the same as without the AR.

Shelcario - adjust the year +/- 1 to change the delay to one you can get. Adding 1 year lowers the delay by one. You need to choose a seconds you can get from calibration phase and know how long it takes to start. For example, If you hit start on 30 seconds and the time at continue is 46, that is 16 seconds, so whatever seconds you aim for, you have to hit start 16 seconds before it.

DP - Yes it is. If you notice, the main difference is the seconds. It is for people who can get constant seconds and allows you to do whichever one you want, whichever one you're best at. I can hit 46 seconds everytime so I always choose that.

I did re-post it there.
I didn't realise I posted in this thread.. I looked in the DMP thread to find it wasn't there so I searched my posts and found it for some reason here.
LOL

well i got a time that was 15:1:22

i know you can change the seconds so i picked 22
but then i realized i that 22 seconds is not enough time for me to get to the game so i did this.

set it to 15:00:00
went before one minute
Paused at the the part when you click the game data
Waited for my other clock to hit 22 seconds and got the egg.

This is the steps i have been using and i think the waiting is messing me up but im not so sure. You must get the exact delay right?

Er. The whole point of calibration was for you to know how many seconds you need to add to your start time to hit your target time ... and yes delay has to be exactly right. The delay, the seconds, and the frame of your egg. Like I said, get an egg and go catch something to find an initial seed to find out how far off you are.

And re-read the OP.

i reread it and i did the same thing but now i adjusted my delay to 27 seconds. I did it and got 27 seconds exact based on the seed finder but the correct frame i needed was frame 607 and i had 606 that means my result should be close by but it wasn't even there:(. Sorry for being a pain but can you tell me common mistakes that might be happening to me?

After RNG abusing for all my legendaries in Diamond other than Dialga (which I caught ages ago), I believe all Method J legends have a starting frame of 1, and the Mesprit/Cresselia have a starting frame of 5. The only one not yet recorded on the list that I've abused is Regigigas, which does have a starting frame of 1.

Also, is there anything that doesn't involve interpreting the game code that I might be able to do to help investigate for Wonder Card exploiting?

Extremely minor RNG Reporter nitpick: While running a large search (in particular finding a flawless Timid HP Ice 70 spread, which I know will have either huge delay or frame number), the number of seeds searched will overflow and go negative. I don't think this affects the functionality at all, but I might as well bring it up anyway.

Odds are you got a seed not in your list. If you checked the initial seed, then just generate the dppt breeding list and see what frame you got.

Even with some of the success I've been having as of lately with soft-resets, there's one thing I'm still having problems with. How can I advance just one frame without doing any walking? For example, I'm stuck at frame 76 and I want to reach my target frame of 77.

Sweet Scent? I think that was it anyway... (It's in the OP iirc)

EDIT: No, screw that theory.

Did you account for the starting frame of the pokemon? Heatran for example is 1. Say you wanted Frame 522,

522 - 1 = 521 (odd - 128 steps)
521 - 5 = 516 (even)
516/2 = 258 flips

Unless you brought only 2 or 4 pokemon with you, in which case you can't make it even... =/

Weird, mine was frame 8 and caught on Platinum =S

Uxie was 1 for me also, so that is weird for you.

EE: Tortured Soul is right about the calculations. Sweet scenting may advance it also, not sure if it is 1 when you are just standing in cave. If you want, you can try a test, other wise just walk.

Thanks LightningFusion, and also, thanks to Mingot for clearing up the OP for me. Thanks to you two, I was able to get my HP Fighting Azelf.

Also, EE, I had a similar issue where I messed up my math on my first try. I had 5 pokemon in my party however, and, I accidentally waited to do my walking until after my Journal Flips, and missed my target due to bad math.

While the walking seems to work when I'm in a cave with azelf, I can't seem to get it to work when I'm trying the same thing with a wild pokemon that requires fishing as I keep getting an odd number instead of a desired even number. I also believe that fishing and each "not even a nibble" consumes a certain number of seeds, not sure if its odd or even when it does that.
