Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

bummer, looks like my dreams of a completely flawless Modest HP Ice Zapdos went down the drain. Thanks for the info though Mingot. : D

I'm guessing the seed given in the IVs -> PID is the monster seed...

You'll have to put up with enormous frame numbers or delays, but you might want to try some of these seeds for Modest flawless HP Ice (31/10/30/31/31/31) (courtesy of the Time Finder):

33040263 (manageable delay, but at frame 9839)
21170393 (low frame [~370], but high enough delay you'll have to wait a bit at the title screen)
35040326 (higher frame [~1300], lower delay than the above)
B0160319 (higher frame still [~5100], but even lower delay)

That first one would work. I'd rather an easier time getting the delay than a lower frame. so, I'll take 4500+ Journal Flips and a consistantly obtainable Delay than lower Journal Flips and a harder to obtain delay.

Thanks a bunch though, Flawless HP Ice Zapdos just became possible. : D

I'm in the same boat - getting the right seed is the tricky point for me.

Timid HP Ice (31/22/30/31/31/31) isn't so lucky with delays (also from the Time Finder):

600103DE (Frame 1608, ~892 Delay minimum)
F012030D (Frame 2695, ~682 Delay minimum)

I'd much prefer something in the 596-598 range.

I was wondering since I am pretty much done with questions and have a pretty good grasp of this. is there anything like research needed to be done? If so let me know I would like to contribute

Use th one I bolded, but I suggest this little trick I've been using (if possible) Sweet scent at the beginning to check your seed, if your seed is correct then you use a repel and run through grass over and over again to increase your frame, then sweet scent again to check your frame and do your flips from there. Obviously this won't work in some situations with NPCs and stuff around, but just an idea.

Okay, my delay is around 600-610, 15 seconds. But some spreads I've found (using Xtreem) have a delay of 670; how do I work out how much longer to wait?

Also, since I didn't search for the spread (instead getting it from the excel sheets), how do I find out how many coin flips I need to do to check that it's right? I'm using Method 1, for roaming legends.

Eck, typo'd. Still, my question stands. The formula for the delay is 60 * number of seconds, yes? Which equals 900 (15 seconds), not 600...

I tried that trick to attempt to make a Uxie SR more manageable, but I haven't been able to get a consistent amount of frames after the method 1 frame of the thing I get when Sweet Scenting (like M1+6 frames one time, M1+0 frames another time, etc. - tested in Lake Acuity where there aren't trainers around to mess up the RNG), so that it probably will not be helpful for me. I figured it would be faster just to brute-force the taps than figure out what on earth was happening with the Sweet Scents. To each their own, I guess...

Getting a Zapdos with those frames will also be tricky since you won't want to leave Oak's house and enter the NPC-loaded Eterna.

Ah, ok well then it would be useless for Zapdos, but I have found it to be very useful in catching good Heatran. I have been ble to make what should've been 2000+ taps in 200ish, so I'll be sticking to it when I can.

Like usual, I'm having a lot of trouble with SR'ing. This time it's for my own jolly azelf.

Azelf
Frame: 1
Testers: 2 (Syberia, LightningFusion)

Does this mean that talking to azelf advances the RNG by one? If so, does that mean talking to cresselia/mesprit will advance the RNG by 5? This is really important to me =o

Also (sorry for the crude image, I created it to make my question more clearer than by using text)..

Yes you need to take their starting frame into account so that if you're aiming for frame 13 you'd do 6 journal flips and then talk to Azelf.

Yes the coin flips will be exactly as your target seed say they will be.

There's an added time delay between the time you start the DS game from the home menu and when the delay counter starts.

So 600 / 60 = 10, 680 / 60 = 11.3*, I would wait an extra second?

Also, as I've mentioned, I can't get the seed I want to appear from RNG Reporter's generate function. I'm using CC0502A9. I found an identical one, with PID, 61150C96, by searching; is this the same one, should I use this one? I need it to figure out the required amount of coin taps...

Is the bolded the seed that you want? If so I was able to find a time using the seed->time function (I assume this is what you were trying to do.) It was: 2009 03 29|05:58:59|672

You can decrease the delay by increasing the year.

Sorry if I'm misunderstanding.

Not quite. The OP mentions that by using coin flip, you can check whether you've hit the right delay and whatnot. But I can't figure out how to get my seed (CC0502A9) to show up in RNG Reporter. I've found it by searching the same frame, with the same IVs, but isn't there anyway to simply search by seed?

Although, I think I've got this figured out now though, thanks for the help everyone! Let the good stuff roll...

Well, I'm calibrating, and I've gotten 593, 599, 607, 609, 611, 613 (not in that order, obviously). Seems a bit of a wide range; how long should I keep going to narrow it down, or should I just go by the standard 600-610?

I'd calibrate until you are comfortable on reaching at or as close as possible your target delay. To date, I've now been successful with those of delay targets ranging from 640 - 701.

Oh boy....oh boy, oh boy... >>

Hi all. I'm relatively new to Smogon (been lurking around 3 years or so) and have loved breeding Pokemon for the past 2 years or so. I'm the sort of person who'd hatch 25/31/15/x/20/31 on a physical sweeper and call it a great day's work.

I wanted to try my first Hidden Power breed (Lucario) and got one that seemed decent-ish, but wasn't sure. So I was looking through the "Showing off Pokemon" thread and saw people saying things like "Hey, should I toss this Shiny 30/31/25/x/20/31?" and was thinking "WTF, why the hell would you?"

...then my eyes caught the word RNG...

..then I looked it up and read the articles...

Guh...

Well, I was thinking that I would be hopeless at it, but after the program first managed to correctly predict the contents of a random egg, I was reassured, and I kept at it.

But now I've hit a roadblock. I found that I was consistently getting a Frame of 6 on every egg I hatched. So I looked up a spread I wanted with a Frame of 6, but realized that in changing the time to the correct day, the Journal would come up. Yadda, yadda, I resaved, tested some more, and was stunned at my luck in my Frame being 6 again.

So I went for my spread, and was ecstatic to see that I landed the right delay. I celebrated early though, because when I hatched the egg, the Frame was wrong. Confused, I just kept at it (figuring I had hesitated by a split second before picking up the egg after the game had loaded.) I got the right delay AGAIN, but the Frame had again changed (but was closer).

So I'm stuck...I don't know what to do. I figure I should probably just leave Solaceon to shuffle the Frame, but I don't totally know how to control it.

Just re-save in front of the old man and hope you get 6 again. It's ok if the journal comes up as long as it doesn't have caught/defeated a pokemon.

Really? Closing out the journal won't alter the frame if no Pokemon is listed? If so, then that's good to know, cause I've been really limited on which spreads seemed viable because of the Journal.

As long as caught/defeated isn't listed. Pokemon received from the GTS or trades are alright to be on the journal page.
