[UU] Please Rate! :D

This is actually my second UU team, but I'm still newbish at battling, and randomly threw some pokemon together in hopes of creating some synergy.. >_< UU is my favorite tier, and I want to be a good battler at it :P.

Venusaur @ Choice Specs
Modest - Overgrow
236 HP / 252 SpA / 20 Spe
~Leaf Storm
~Sludge Bomb
~HP Ice
~Sleep Talk

My special attacker, designed to hit as powerful as it can with Modest nature + Choice Specs. It can also function as my team's sleep absorber.

208.png

Steelix @ Leftovers
Impish - Rock Head
252 HP / 120 Atk / 136 SpD
~Stealth Rock
~Earthquake
~Stone Edge
~Roar

Physical wall of the team, and sets up SR and Roaring out to scout/phaze physical attackers setting up.

334.png

Altaria @ Leftovers
Mild - Natural Cure
112 Atk / 252 SpA / 144 Spe
~Draco Meteor
~Outrage
~Fire Blast
~Earthquake

Wallbreaker/mixed attaacker of the team. Needless to say, Draco Meteor will severely cripple any pokemon that doesn't resist it when combined with STAB + Life Orb boost. Fire Blast is there for Steel types that resist it.

197.png

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Careful - Synchronize
252 HP / 92 SpD / 164 Spe
~Wish
~Payback
~Yawn
~Protect

Team supporter. Can pass Wish to Altaria, who will be quickly worn down by SR/Life Orb recoil, and generally supports the team. Also can p-haze with Yawn, or cripple one of the opponent's team member. Umbreon can also bounce back any paralysis, burns, or sleeps.

160.png

Feraligatr @ Life Orb
Adamant - Torrent
28 HP / 252 Atk / 228 Spe
~Earthquake
~Ice Punch
~Waterfall
~Dragon Dance

Main physical sweeper for the team. Comes out at late game when most things are weakened by Altaria/Venusaur. Stat-ups, then proceed to sweep the opponent's team.

171.png

Lanturn @ Leftovers
Calm - Volt Absorb
40 HP / 136 SpA / 252 SpD / 80 Spe
~Surf
~Thunderbolt
~Ice Beam
~Thunder Wave

Special wall for my team. Lanturn can absorb special attacks quite well, and when Feraligatr is out and an electric attack is predicted, I can switch to Lanturn to absorb the hit, then T-wave the attacker/switch.

Any comment would be appreciated, please help me get better :)

Hi,

looking at your team I see some problems, here are some advices:

1) You lead is too slow and will always lose 1 vs 1 against common leads like Crobat, Ambipom, Arcanine, Roserade. If you really want to keep Venusaur as your lead, consider using a scarf set. I suggest this one:

Venusaur@choice scarf
nature: timid
EVs: 80 HP / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
-sleep powder
-sludge bomb
-hidden power [ice]
-leaf storm

With these EVs you'll be faster than Crobat and will be able to put it to sleep before it taunts you. You'll still retain a decent bulk and will be able to come on Shaymin's seed flares quite easily, scaring it off with your stab sludge bombs. It also works as an awesome revenge killer late game. Definitely give it a try.

2) I really suggest that you make your Altaria more bulky: you're very weak to fighting attacks, and between stealth rock and life orb damage, Altaria won't last long. Definitelly give it roost and consider a more defensive EV spread, with leftovers over life orb. Altaria also serves as a second check for Shaymin (if it lacks hp ice, obviously).

Another option would be using a Crobat in this spot, the standard Crobat would work nicely on your team, considering its 4X resistances to fight and grass (you have 2 weaknesses to fight and 2 weaknesses to grass), and the ability to outspeed Shaymin, so give it a try if you like the idea:

Crobat@leftovers
nature: jolly
EVs: 104 HP / 152 Atk / 252 Spe
-brave bird
-roost
-taunt
-u-turn

Crobat is probably the best Shaymin counter in the game and is extremely useful for every UU team. The set is pretty self-explanatory.

I would probably replace Lanturn, but I don't want to twist your team much, so keep it. I'm sure that with these changes your team will be a lot more solid.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!

Ooops.. forgot to include that I have no idea what to use a a lead. I want to keep Venusaur as it is, Modest + Specs'd to hit as hard as possible. Would that Crobat work as a good lead too? If so, what should I replace it with? Fighting/Grass resist sounds good too. Wouldn't I need to keep my Altaria there for the mixed attacker role?

Then use Crobat as your lead and replace Lanturn with your specs-Venusaur.
I don't think that Altaria is really that useful, but if you like that set, then keep it.

If I remove Lanturn, I wouldn't have a special wall for the team. Would Umbreon be fine without Toxic? Or if Altaria isn't that useful, should I replace Altaria with Lanturn?

Personally, I wouldn't. Lanturn is good. But looking at your team right now, it only covers your Feraligatr's weakness to elec, which can also be done by a simple Steelix switch-in. Maybe add a second flying pokemon (since you can deal with electric moves pretty well)? Maybe a Swellow? It's up to you.

Mixtaria is basically the UU equivalent of Mixmence so definetly keep it for wall breaking.

I also agree with Haunter, putting Roost on Altaria over Outrage is probably a smarter move. I'm not so sure about the defensive EV set he suggested, but it's always a possibility, I guess.

Other than that, your team is pretty much fine. ^_^

Venusaur @ Choice Specs
Modest - Overgrow
236 HP / 252 SpA / 20 Spe
~Leaf Storm
~Sludge Bomb
~HP Ice
~Sleep Talk

My special attacker, designed to hit as powerful as it can with Modest nature + Choice Specs. It can also function as my team's sleep absorber.
- Like Haunter said, You need to lose the specs as all this thing as its just not a good lead for this Metagame. Venusaur is cool and all, but I think a roserade would work better since you mentioned a sleep absorber and it has natural cure.
Roserade @ Choice scarf
Modest/ Calm
252 Hp/ 200 spe./ 56 sp. atk. or sp. def (depends on nature you select)
Spikes/ Sleep Powder
Rest/ Sleep Powder
Sludge Bomb/ Extrasensory/ Hidden Power Rock
Leaf Storm/ Extrasensory/ Hidden Power Rock
-this helps you in many ways. First you can hit most common switch in's to Roserade fairly hard. Take for instance Honchkrow and Crobat... They both are nailed by HP Rock, or Extrasensory and Sludge bomb. You can easily revenge kill Blaziken with Extrasensory as well. Rest adds to the longevity of Roserade, but is not really a requirement for the set, but she is a bit more fragile than normal especially if you go with the modest set. You outspeed Crobat and scarf'd Magmortar and Cause a 2hko quite easily with HP rock. Moltress can be hit if not behind a sub etc. etc. Sleep Powder is better for a lead, but spikes is generally more helpful. I like it better than scarf'd Venu, but either way you need to lose the specs. on your current lead.

Steelix @ Leftovers
Impish - Rock Head
252 HP / 120 Atk / 136 SpD
~Stealth Rock
~Earthquake
~Stone Edge
~Roar

Physical wall of the team, and sets up SR and Roaring out to scout/phaze physical attackers setting up.
- Okay, this is something I dont get... When are you going to need your Steelix to take a special hit? The only scenario I can immagine is a desperate one, and one you want to generally avoid. Magneton is not something that runs rampant in UU so its not like you need to worry about taking a hit from it. You can put more EV's into its defense and attack that way. Those EV's look helpful, but think about it... You dont generally ask Steelix to take a special hit he cant do it well even with EV investment...

- This thing just looks like it wouldn't help that much... Cant hit either of the common Regi's hard enough to kill it before it can kill you... Seems like something better could go in this spot to be honest.

-Explain the speed ev's plx. I dont know what you need to outspeed with that spread. It seems to me a bulkier spread would fit this team MUCH better as it is a solid counter to sub cm missy. Yawn is meh, and you already have a phaser toxic works better, especially if you use sleep powder on your lead.

Feraligatr @ Life Orb
Adamant - Torrent
28 HP / 252 Atk / 228 Spe
~Earthquake
~Ice Punch
~Waterfall
~Dragon Dance

Main physical sweeper for the team. Comes out at late game when most things are weakened by Altaria/Venusaur. Stat-ups, then proceed to sweep the opponent's team.
- This looks alright.

Lanturn @ Leftovers
Calm - Volt Absorb
40 HP / 136 SpA / 252 SpD / 80 Spe
~Surf
~Thunderbolt
~Ice Beam
~Thunder Wave
Lanturn doesnt do it for me... Shaymin and Missy both are huge threats that beat it soundly, so beyond covering Feraligatr(which steelix and umbreon with a modified ev spread could do) it seems like a wasted spot that doesnt do much for you. Blaziken kills it, Shaymin kills it, Missy kills it it doesnt wall much anymore and grass attacks are so much more common than electric in UU you would be better off with a Crobat or something in this spot tbh.
