Quick question about encountering perfect/near perfect pokemon. Say I was in a cave and wanted to encounter a pokemon on frame 17. Would I walk 10 steps for 10 frames, then sweet scent for an additional 7 that would total 17? Or would I walk 8, then sweet scent for an additional 9 (I remember reading in the guide that sweet scent advances 2 and 7, something I didn't quite understand) to get 17? Or am I doing something fundamentally wrong? Also, just something I wanted to confirm. Even if I follow instructions perfectly, I still shouldn't get the desired pokemon simply because of variations in the delay, right? Thanks!

This needs to stop being confused for in the original post. The SS advances by 1, so if you SS as soon as you start, you will land on frame 2, and when you SS after you battle, its +7 to previous monsters method 1 frame.

This is what you should do for frame 17.

17-2 (SS) = 15
15-1 (turn once without walking) = 14
14/2 = 7 (flip pages in the journal with caught pokemon on it 7 times, hopefully you know what I mean.)

I am just starting to try and rng abuse and I have a question. To gt my initial seed the guide says I should catch a lv. 50 and over pokemon. Is this necessary if I can IV check a pokemon I catch that is less then level 50?

i am attempting to shiny abuse but i have a small dilemma when it comes to the tapping whats a reasonable amount i should aim for only asking because i am naturally lazy seeing anything about 300 seems ridiculous and i also have another 2 quick question is there any good way you have of keeping track of tap? & also does tapping the happiness screen w/out any movement affect the final result?

@ agiyr: I can't believe it takes you 30 seconds to hit continue. Are you resetting on the minute and then mashing the A-button as fast as possible until you hit continue?

Yeh, that's the problem. My screen does turn white for about two seconds ( should it do that rigth after the reset?), but I'm sure that it won't take 30. I'm going to test right now using both the rng and another clock for the exact time.

Got the seconds down to 20, but I can see that it's only taking 15.

Oh my, grats&thanks :D I haven't gotten around to calculating the species and encounter percentages of some of my good spreads, but that will help a lot.

A few new hidden power dittos would make all the difference in breeding .-.
Thanks! Well I'm creating a small program that will claculate and tell you the Slot you need, the only thing you have to do is enter the PID =)

I've been able to teach myself to RNG for shinies. That's fairly simple, although tapping that stupid happiness checker is annoying beyond all recognition.

When it comes to RNG for IVs, however, I just can't seem to get it right. I repeatedly come up with spreads that are not even on the chart for adjacent spreads. If I were getting something close, I would know that I'm doing it right and just not quite hitting the proper delay, but with this... I don't even know.

Are there any common mistakes that I might be making which would throw it off? I've carefully gone over every step in the original post and I don't see anything obviously wrong.

Also: How would one go about abusing the PRNG for shiny and IVs at the same time? Specifically, once the initial seed is found, taps are made, egg is created and you save before picking it up, can you use the same initial seed for calculations on the time finder? Or do you have to catch another initial seed after that in order to start the IV RNG process?

Depends on the person raratta. Since emerald is based on timing and the seed is set, where as in DPPt we can change the seed and get spreads emerald can't get without leaving the game on for over days. I would say DPPt is easier.

chev4 - I wouldn't do anything more than 1000 taps especially if you can get a international parent. Do like 20 taps at a time and add them up or subtract them from the total on a calculator after you do 20.

Euthanasia - The easiest way to find out what you are doing wrong is after you get the egg, go catch a wild pokemon and calculate the seed from it and find out which frame the egg was on. Getting the seed will tell you your Delay and seconds you hit, while generating the Breeding DPPt list will tell you what frame the egg was. These should normally tell you whats wrong.

The abusing at the same time question you have is stated wierd and doesn't make sense. You have to save after you get your egg. Then you turn it off and find a spread you want in time finder, and change to the date and time.

where would i find info. on how to emerald rng. because the thread that it says to go to didnt really explain how to do it.

Hey this may be a dumb question, but is the delay, seconds, and frame dependent on the game, the DS you use, or both? Like will the frame change if you switch DSs. Im asking this because I have a DSi and regular DS, and I can take the DS places, but bot the DSi...=/

Yeah, I realized that the question about seeds and abusing both at once made no sense after I posted it. It was like 4 AM. =(

I just can't figure out why I keep hitting spreads that are not even remotely adjacent.
