Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Oh sorry I tough it might be better cause I thought my post was too long or something.

Oh no no! I did not skip the frames, actually that's what I got right XP!

I skipped the calibration process...finding the right delays...you see at first I was testing out for shinies and I had to do it many time because I had the wrong nature or to much happiness checker thing...when I finaly got the egg. I reread the IV's but noticed you had to do the callibration process before hand...but I kept my note of Delay's so I tought I was gonna be fine..but..D<

So if my second was 36...I would have to soft reset a 36 second before the target time?

Okay so if I selected a spread that indicated 04.40.36
I would have to restart my DS clock at 04:39:00 to get accurate results? And soft reset at 4:40.00? But the probleme is...my seconds are always out of range...I tought the sec. followed the external clock....=o

The other thing is if the frame, for example my egg hatches at 2,00,00 steps...but all the walking I do brings it up to 7+...Oh nvm I think I got it...when you ctach the Pokemon to check the frame, it gives you the time and delay you need to hatch your pokemon, and THEN you soft reset and try to get the delay and time! You don't have to worry about the frame when you ACTUALLY try to hatch the egg! Is that right?

The frame has nothing to do with when you hatch, it's when you collect the egg.

And the only time that time/date/delay matter is when you press "A" on the continue screen.

36 seconds seems like an awful long time, but I have no idea on the AR front, so maybe someone else can give you a tip there.

Oh! Okay the frame is only important at that instant! Tks!

Yes well I have been trying it with and without the AR, maybe that's what's messing up my seconds anyways I think....0______o

Anyways tks alot, I greatly appreciate it! =D

It doesn't matter; you can try again with another Pokémon. Don't take too long, though, since the seed finder only works if your current frame is 1000 or less...

Alright, so If I do all of the Flips for Shiny Cress, when I first see her on the Island, will the picture of her be shiny?

Ok, I'm resetting for a Palkia but keep missing the delay. How can I find out what delay I hit using coin flips if they don't match?

generate the list of the seed your aiming for +-2/4/6 delays higher and write down those coin flip sequences. Or you can catch palkia and check with the initial seed checker.

Before NPCs actually move (say if they were JUST about to), do they still advance the frame by making the calls necessary to the RNG?

Sorry to post again so soon, I'm just quite frustrated. For the past 3 days straight, I've been trying to hit my spread, to no avail. I even kept calibrating until I got results for my seed. In calibration, I started on frame 7 when hitting my seed. I'm aiming for 17, so I did 5 journal flips (starting from 7 of course) and collected my egg whilist hitting my seed. Of course every single time I hatched the egg I STILL have the wrong frame, even when calibrating for that specific seed. Suggestions would be great please.

Okay, we got to make one thing clear to not only you, but the other people new to RNG abuse as well. In "busy" (NPC inhabited) locations, YOUR FRAME WILL OFTEN NOT BE CONSISTENT TO THE FRAME YOU FOUND IN CALIBRATION.

When you save, NPC positions are saved, along with the frame given by their movements. For the sake of explanation, I will refer to this as "being saved on a frame". From this save point, the frame will stay the same, so long as you collect the egg before an NPC moves.

Odds are, you are currently not saved on frame 7, as you think you are. I suggest saving in front of the day care man, reset, collect your egg as fast as you can, then get your initial seed and check frame. If it turns out to be 1,3,5,7,11,13, or 15, use journal flips to get to your target of 17. When you know what frame you're saved on, you can proceed to change the time to your target time and try to hit your spread from there.

If this is confusing, just ask for clarification.

Okay. When I re-save and collect my egg, should I still forward 2 days so the journal pops up? Or should I just collect it and gtfo? xD

Thanks for the help again.

Whoah, let me give you step by step directions so you don't lose your egg.

1. Save in front of daycare man.
2. Without changing the date, reset and collect egg as fast as you can.
3. Catch wild pokemon to check initial seed
4. Generate list under Breeding DPPt and find your egg on that list. That is your current frame that you're saved on.
5. If it's right, do not save and proceed to collect egg on target date and delay.
6. If it's wrong, reset and create a new save point without collecting your egg and start over from step 2.

Also, on a nonrelated note, I have made a video regarding RNG abuse for legends or wild pokemon. You can see it at the following link:

Alright, thanks for clarifying that bearsfan :). I've heard that at different seeds NPCs have different actions though, which may change your frame. Is this also true?

Sorry for being a bother :P.

Dude...that is an awesome vid, think it'll work w/the Turnback Cave Giratina? Don't have any wanders just yet, but if and when I talk to Oak, the birds WILL be released, right?
P.S...WHERE YOU WHEN THIS WHOLE THING START4ED?? lol :O :)

What do you mean will it work in Turnback Cave? It works, I caught a Shiny Giratina...

Yes, this will work with Turnback Cave Giratina. I wrote the formula in that video. Just find the necessary information and the process is identical. When you talk to Oak, that's when the birds get released, which will be three wanderers, so account for that. You don't necessarily need wanderers if you can reach the frame with just the journal flips and the frame of the legend itself.

Where was I? I've been RNG abusing since near the beginning (I was fairly early on). It's just I'm getting more active in helping now.

Can poke-radar pokemon be used with Method J calculations? I've found a spread I want to use for a Ditto on my Diamond, but I don't know if it's possible for me to use the radar to get it. If so, does it start on frame 2 like the one normal in the grass?

Radar has wacky behavior. I tried running tests on the radar's effect on frame. I got wild and unpredictable results. I tracked everything I could think of that could affect frame but couldn't get anything consistent. They all fell within Method J, but I couldn't find a pattern.

Okay then. I'll check and see if I can get the same spread on my Platinum game, since I finally got the nat. dex so I can now get daily pokemon in the Trophy Garden. Also, can someone PM me about how to determine which pokemon appear for each spread (I'm really confused and don't want to spam the thread).

COKTAL, a spread that exists in one game exists in the other (unless it's shiny, which is ID determined). And I'll give you the bearsfan092-CliffNotes version of how to manipulate encounters.

1. Find target Method J frame
2. Take that frame number minus one. Find that frame number under Method 1.
3. In the PID, note the last four digits (it's in hexadecimal, so there may be numbers). Don't get intimidated by the hex. We're gonna take the brainwork out of that, even though it's not hard to do it by hand.
4. Go into Windows' Calculator and turn on scientific mode. Click the hex button, type in the digits, then hit the dec button, which will convert it to a standard number.
5. Divide this number by 656. Cut off any decimals. Do not round up or down.
6. This number will be between 0-99. Use the encounter tables on the front page from here on out to compare what you will get.
